We were there during the "Covid 19" in June of 2020. ***. I cannot fairly review their free breakfast because it was limited to dry cereal, hard boiled eggs & yogurt. **** Myself & 4 friends stayed in two rooms for a couple of nights. One room was a suite & had a pull out couch so we all had our own beds. The rooms had a microwave & mini fridge. The pool area and pool & hot tub was very clean. The pool can be used for a fee for non hotel guests, so when 5 younger children (maybe one teenager) came without any supervision and proceeded to get out of hand while we were playing cards, I told the hotel & they immediately asked them to leave. The rooms were very clean & prior to our arrival, had been thoroughly sanitized. Cindy & the manager Michelle were very friendly & helpful when we asked about kayaking on a nearby lake. We arrived at noon on a weekday and they let us into our rooms right away, which most hotels do not let you do that. The bar & Grill "Beezers" is connected and was so convenient to order pizza or dinner. This is an area & hotel I would definitely go back to.

Took scenic route from hotel on Hwy 33 up into Wildcat Mountain State Park. Going further then on 33 you tackle twisting and curvy roads with beautiful scenery. Go up to the observatory look out and you can see for miles and mile. Great ride on a bike! Hit Hwy 133 and there are places all over to rent canoes or tubing on the Kickapoo river. Bring swim suits or clothes you don't mind getting wet...lol

This is a nice property. It does have a slight hint of a smell which made us think in the past it was a smoking allowed hotel. The blanket had a bit of a smell vs when staying in a big named hotel. Breakfast is a light continental, cold cereals, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, rolls, bagels, etc. Coffee was ok and never very hot. Tables were not kept clean. My comments reflect staying in many chain hotels with many more staff and updated beds and linens. For a small town hotel, we were happy with our stay and recommend if you plan on Hillsboro as your base point if you are biking some of the many fantastic rail trails in the area (yes, we were allowed to bring your bikes into your room at night!). And, have some delicious pizza at the Hillsboro Brewing Company!
