Surrounded by small towns, beaches, state parks, cherry orchards, wineries, lighthouses and art galleries, the Somerset Inn & Suites is close to all the things that bring tourists to Wisconsin's Door County, a "quaintly all-American vacation" destination (Wall Street Journal). The Somerset Inn & Suites is a small, 38-room inn in Ephraim, a town that's "a picture of perfection" (Travel +Leisure). The inn sits on five acres of woodlands just minutes from the waterfront, and room types range from double queen rooms up to suites with fireplaces and whirlpools. Somerset Inn and Suites has 38 rooms and suites set on five acres of woods on the north end of Ephraim, right in the heart of Door County. Our goal is to provide you with a room that is clean and comfortable, with friendly attentive service at a value conscious price.

Detailed Reviews
This Inn is owned by people who really care about hospitality.
The pet friendly rooms are perfect for people like us who travel all of the time with our dog.
The beds and pillows are super comfortable ,
There is a great little area for kids to play outside with swings and small sand toys .
A newly constructed outdoor firepit is just the place to relax in the evening with a nice glass of wine.
Two grills are ready for use.
We love the outdoor enclosed patio that allowed us to sit and relax with our dog safely .
You can help yourself to free tea and coffee.
If you are too tired to head out for a meal you can purchase a pizza, snacks and ice cream
on site. There is a nice selection of board games to borrow and books to read as well.
The indoor pool , hot tub and outdoor pool are meticulously cared for .
The Somerset Inn is located in a quiet setting close enough to get around to other areas of interest .
We always make this our home away from home when we want to visit Door County because the owners really do care about your experience while staying there.

My boyfriend and I stayed one night in a whirlpool suite on our first trip to Door County. We specifically stayed here because of the price for a room with a whirlpool tub and the room did not disappoint! Since we were only there one night, we didn’t take advantage of either the indoor or outdoor pool but definitely would have if our trip had been longer. We also didn’t bring any pets but appreciated that one of the buildings was pet friendly! There was ample parking, the room was clean, nicely decorated, a comfortable temperature, and quiet. The whole suite seemed spacious and we appreciated having a kitchenette area, plus two televisions. The bed was a good size and was comfortable. All of the staff members we interacted with were friendly. The only thing I didn’t love was the smell of the soap.
A few things to consider if you’re planning on staying here: I did not see an elevator to the second floor so if you are disabled or have a lot of heavy luggage you may want to request the ground floor. Also the outlets near the bed were limited so if you like to charge your phone next to you during the night, you may want to bring an extension cord. Finally, most of the suite was lit by lamps. If you like really bright spaces and lots of overhead light, you might feel the room is a bit dark.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again in the future!

We were willing to sacrifice a water view for a good value. Apparently by design there are no chain hotels in Door County (M'ott, Hilton, etc.). So you have to dig through the reviews and weed out all of the perpetually miserable people from NY and NJ. We're a retired couple from the Midwest.
We stayed here 3 nights. It's a great central location to the best part of upper Door County. Everything we wanted to do and see was minutes away. We "upgraded" . to a fireplace room. We got the corner one on the second floor at the west end of the hotel.
Two rooms. Big living room with bar and fridge. Fridge had a freezer, very rare. Bedroom very small, bathroom had sink outside, old tub shower combo. One window in the living room, one in the bedroom. Very dark in the living room, lights on during the daytime.. Two decent TV's. Wi-Fi was fine. Furniture was old and dark But it wasn't warn and it was clean. Room was clean. Better place for families than couples.
We got the "basket service" for housekeeping which we liked, who needs people in your room while you're gone?

We were a little disappointed with this place. We were only here for one night, thank goodness. While it looked like they had done a little updating (new floor in bathroom area, new carpet), the overall feel was dark and dated. The furniture was old and rickety. Everything was beige and the wattage of the bulbs couldn't be more than 40 watts. If they invest in some better furniture, paint the rooms white and increase the lighting, it would be much better.

We’re not sure how this property had a high rating because when we got to our room we were very disappointed. The room was old, dated, & worn. Not sure what the rating was based on. We use Trip Advisor in making our decisions for rooms & restaurants, but this was very disappointing. Won’t be going back to this property.

We stayed for a second time at this resort. Some of my favorite things here are Angie, the owner... she is constantly cleaning and her flowers. They are fantastic. Plants EVERYWHERE, grounds are immaculate!
We got a deluxe suite which has a small bedroom and a kitchenette. It is nice to bring some breakfast items, and snacks. Coffee and tea is free in lobby. You can buy ice cream, chips, beer, soda... too.
The pools and hot tub were very clean. We enjoyed them a lot. Not a lot to do in this Covid era. So we shopped wearing masks and then cooled off.
Of course, there are nice places to eat and the sunsets are beautiful. We will return a third time.

Dark, musty, dingy. The room had old, thick brown carpet. The odor in the room was overpowering, seemingly some kind of cleaning product or air freshener. If you are sensitive to cleaning products, you will be miserable. There was dust and cobwebs in the corners and behind the entry door. The bathroom was clean. Felt like it hasn’t been updated in a long time. Didn’t get to use the pool, as check in was 3, and they don’t allow use of pool til you are checked in. There is a cute mini golf right across the street. Front desk person acted like she was doing us a favor. Tiny little queen bed with old bedding.

Thank you for staying with us. You are correct, we do prefer to let our guests that are currently checked into the hotel use the pool areas and we're sorry we were unable to accommodate your request for a check in at 10:30am during our peak summer season. Unfortunately the guests in your room were not yet checked out as check out time is 11:00am. Since it was very clear you wanted to check in early, we hustled our housekeeping crew to flip the room and that's probably the reason for the cleaning product smell, we had JUST finished cleaning your room. I was unable to perform my usual inspection of the room where I make sure the AC is set properly (especially important on summer days with a very high dew point). As you can see from previous guest reviews, we take great pride in our family owned and operated business and strive to always offer a room that is clean and comfortable with top notlch customer care.

Stayed in one of the Deluxe Suites. I would highly recommend. Balcony just off the living room. Great place to sit in the early morning if you want some sun and later in the day if you are looking for a little shade. Gas fireplace, microwave and small fridge, sink, dishes, and silverware. There's a separate bedroom with a queen bed - ceiling fan and tv. Water pressure and temp was perfect for the shower.
Two pools - indoor and outdoor - and a hot tub just off the indoor pool area. They also have a nice patio with comfy chairs. The patio has a gas grill available for use, tables to eat at, and a gas firepit.
The location is just right. A few restaurants and shops within walking distance. Sister Bay is just over the hill and an easy drive. Ephraim is just down the hill. Hwy 57 is just up the road for an easy trip over to Bailey's Harbor.
Overall, a very relaxing stay.

+1
I didn’t realize that for over $200 a night that the room would be so outdated and old. Rooms are very dark. No hot water-cold showers day or night. Luckily, the bed and pillows were comfortable and there’s a microwave in the room. Initially, we were told that we would have to switch rooms after 1 night of a 3 night stay, but management was able to fix that situation.
If you bring your dog, you have to stay in the dog building where people with out of control large dogs (German Shepherds, etc) lunge and attempt to attack you and your little 9 lb dog in the hallways as you leave your room.
I liked the location in Door County between Ephraim and Sister Bay, but our experience in Door County was just meh. Lots of driving up and down the peninsula to see things. Not much to do except to eat at overpriced sit down restaurants and get drunk while boating on the lake. Not for us. I guess Door County is good for Chicagoans who need to get out of the city.

My sister and I really enjoyed our stay. The room (Queen Suite) was spacious and we loved the small patio out back. Although it is an older property, the owners show real Pride-of-Ownership throughout. Our room was immaculate and came equipped with all the basics to make our stay feel like home (plates, glasses, utensils, microwave, paper towels, dish soap, sponge, etc.). There's a cozy "store" at the front office where you can get free coffee & tea, or buy other provisions (drinks, snacks, etc.) The grounds are inviting and well-kept, and include an outdoor pool as well as a separate fire pit and grilling area. It was quiet and comfortable, and the location is perfect for exploring all parts of Door County. Will stay again!
