Detailed Reviews
It’s been six years since we’ve made it to Door County, so we were excited for a weekend getaway! We always try to stay in Ephraim since it’s fairly central in northern Door County and has such an amazing view of the bay. We stayed two nights in a queen garden view room, which was on the second floor fairly close to the pool.
The room was spacious, extremely quiet (we never heard anything from the pool, other rooms, etc.), clean, and had a rather large “mini” refrigerator which came in handy for some of our beer and cherry purchases throughout our stay! The bed was comfortable, and everything was really clean—it honestly looked like someone got a toothbrush out when cleaning the whirlpool tub/shower, and even the white siding, trim, railings, etc. outside was spotless. The flower gardens were gorgeous, and the pool was clean and maintained every morning. The staff was amazing to work with—you can tell they put their heart and soul into this place and it doesn’t go unnoticed! The beach across the street was raked/picked up every morning and had incredible sunset views.
We plan on returning to Door County in early fall or next summer at the latest, and this will definitely be the first place we look to stay!!!

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at the Bay Breeze Resort. The rooms aren't fancy but they are very clean, comfortable, and have lots of little touches to make your stay more comfortable like a microwave, extra sink, and a fairly large mini-fridge. We felt especially safe during Covid times as the resort is taking lots of extra precautions to keep the rooms clean and ensure that guests socially distance.
The pool and hot tub are lovely, the beach was great, and the gardens are gorgeous. Ephraim's shops and restaurants are a quick walk away, and we spent lots of time hiking and paddling in Peninsula State Park next door. The whole experience was truly delightful.

We love Door County and move around to different hotels and inns for different experiences. This is one of our favorites: clean, friendly staff, nice accommodations and GREAT view! Splurge on the King Suite with the Bay View; you won't be disappointed. We do like a larger kitchenette, but this sufficed adequately and they had dishes, a strainer and kitchen necessities to clean up after we ate. The rain shower was a bonus and we were so busy we never even got time to try out the whirlpool bath. We skipped the pool and headed to the private beach: FABULOUS! Only negative was it was July 4th weekend and randoms showed up and ignored the Private Beach signs and stayed anyway. That kind of activity kept us away from the beach the first couple days of our stay but I realize that's hard to control. Ephraim is a great central location and we had a great time. Not the best place to catch the sunset because there wasn't a direct view but the after glow on the water and reflecting back to the sky was quite beautiful. Would definitely come here again.

Not sure if words will adequately express how I feel about this place. Well maintained it is exactly the laid back type of place you want to find on a trip. If your budget can afford it, it is well worth reserving a room with a rain shower, a nice luxury at the end of a day of sight seeing. It was also nice the second bed was in it's own room so you can have a litte more privacy if needed. Also has the added bonus of it's own private beach across the road, what a perfect spot to watch a sunset. It is in my top ten list of places I've stayed.

Wow! My husband and I stayed at Bay Breeze Resort for our 25th wedding anniversary. Our stay was perfect! We arrived to a very clean room and an Anniversary card on the table. That was nice of them! We had a room with a rainshower and taking a shower was absolute heaven. Outside of the room was a little table and 2 chairs just for us. Across from the resort is a little beach and nice chairs. Every morning we would leave our wet towels in a bag outside of our door and they would replace them with fresh towels. We opted for no housekeeping, so this worked out perfect for us. If you needed anything else, toilet paper, etc just leave a little note in the bag and it was replaced. Bay Breeze Resort was a fantastic place to stay for our first trip to Door County. I would highly recommend them!

The Bay Breeze is beautifully maintained. Rooms are spacious, well appointed, and immaculately clean. I am a former hotel General Manager and I was truly impressed. The grounds are gorgeous and the gardens are so pretty with a wide array of colorful flowers. The pool is heated which was great for our trip that had unseasonably cold days. The private beach was so nice - we saw someone early in the morning raking it to make sure it was perfect for everyone who visited. The rooms had a clothesline in the bathroom which was a nice touch because we had wet swimsuits and towels to hang up. Love the Ephraim area - great restaurants, beautiful views, great activities and quiet while also having a lot to do. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful first visit to Door County!

We have stayed at the Bay Breeze Resort several times. We like its location in Ephraim because it is not congested with traffic and visitors like Fish Creek. Plus, The Door County Confectionary is nearby. The resort is well maintained. No signs of neglect on the building or in the rooms. There are lovely flowers throughout the grounds. The sandy beach provides a great view of Eagle Harbor. There are several clean and well-maintained Adirondack chairs and a table on the beach. There is a tall dresser with several drawers in the room. The room has an air conditioner unit in a wall located away from the bed. There is a very quiet ceiling fan above the bed. Women will have to bring their own hair dryer because one is not provided. The water was soft, actually too soft. After washing your hands or taking a shower, your skin feels slippery as if soap remains on it. We enjoyed our stay.

Thank you, Blueseanavyvet! We appreciate your time in reviewing your stay with us. We agree that the Door County Confectionery is a great neighbor – chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We would like to take this opportunity to clarify for potential new guests: There is a hairdryer provided in each room – in a few rooms it can be found in the bathroom vanity. For rooms without a bathroom vanity, you will find the hairdryer in the main room’s wet bar cabinet. If you do not see a hairdryer in your room, please let us know, as we have more at the front desk. We do have soft water. Rest assured, we work with a professional local company to soften, test and maintain our commercial water softeners. The most recent test showed that our levels are where they are supposed to be. For those not used to soft water, it may feel slick or silky. We value your business and your feedback, and hope to see you again soon!

Beautiful grounds! Nice pool and private beach to sit snd relax. Ample parking and efficient check in and check out process. Very easy walk to some local restaurants and public park to watch sunset. We had one of the smaller units of the complex and it was nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave . We did not utilize in room housekeeping but loved the option of putting towels out in a bag they provided and a checklist of smaller items we may have run out of , such as soap, shampoo, etc. would definitely stay again!

Thank you, melpt! We appreciate your review and are so happy to hear you liked the alternative we’re offering to daily housekeeping service. We began it last year at the start of the pandemic to ensure our guests always have the supplies they need without our staff having to enter their room. For those who want it, we are happy to provide daily in-room housekeeping service, but at this time it’s by request only. Thanks so much for telling others about your experience! Hope to host you again in the future!

We stayed at Bay Breeze Resort in Ephraim for three nights. We booked the last room which was a garden view yet it was still worthwhile and a great option. Room was comfortable and clean with everything in good condition and nicely furnished. Bonus was the rain shower with three additional side water jets. There is a nice pool and the grounds are beautiful and full of flowers. There is ample free parking and the location being just a bit away from downtown Ephraim meant fewer crowds to battle. We sat a bit on the small beach across the street and enjoyed the water view. The location is in the middle of Door County and provides easy access to neighboring towns. We very highly recommend Bay Breeze Resort!

Overall, this was a great place to stay. The rooms were very clean, the bed was very comfortable. I was visiting with a friend and had a room with two beds in separate rooms; it was very nice to have the separate rooms, but there was nothing comfortable to sit on to spend time in the same room together. The only actual complaint I have is the shower. The shower is in a jetted tub with a standard-size faucet to fill it with, which is just something to watch out for when you're showering - it was nice to have that big of a shower. There is no water softener, and the water here is about as hard as I have ever come across while traveling. This meant a lot longer in the shower without really feeling rinsed off, and that it is more dangerous to stand in when you get any soap in the tub.
This hotel isn't a resort, it's a nice hotel. I'm not even sure if there was one thing that would make an argument that this is a resort. The beach access was nice, but nothing special. There are no "waterfront" rooms here. There is a pool and hot tub, but as far as I can tell there was nothing else that would make this a resort.
Otherwise, the walk into town isn't too bad - about a mile along the shore. I was annoyed that they blocked everything on the TV, so we couldn't use the Chromecast; I know why they do it, but it's unnecessary. The price seemed good when we booked it, so that was a plus, though I know the price should have been lower given the current pandemic. Overall, there is no doubt I would stay here again if I wanted to stay in Ephraim.

Responded Jun 27, 2020
Thank you for your review! We appreciate the constructive criticism and the opportunity to positively affect future customer experiences at the resort. It sounds like you are describing softened water. We work with a professional local company to soften our water and maintain our commercial water softeners. After reading your review we asked them to test our water. The test showed our softener levels are right where they should be. We were advised against adjusting the levels, as adding would over-soften and subtracting would make the water hard. We place a rubber bath mat in every room, our apologies if for some reason there was not a bathmat in your room -- we have more at the front desk and are happy to supply them upon request. We’re so glad to hear you would stay with us again! You’re right, we don’t fit the mold of a brand or corporate resort, and we strive to be transparent through our advertising and on our website in an effort to set customer expectations as realistically as possible. In the landscape of small family-owned businesses in Door County we are considered a resort due to the upgrades we offer which include, but aren’t limited to, our heated pool, custom glass Kohler rain showers with multiple body sprays, award winning gardens, electric vehicle charging stations and silent sports shed. Our waterfront access is another popular amenity, but with water levels in Door County the highest they’ve been in recent history, Mother Nature has certainly shrunk our beach. Running a small business in the age of Coronavirus is as costly as it’s ever been. The care, time and attention to detail it takes to safely and thoughtfully welcome guests while embracing COVID-19 Best Practices is a challenge our team is up for – and so far we believe we’ve done so successfully and without raising our rates! Thank you for your thoughts and your time in reviewing us. We hope to see you again!

We look forward to seeing you! No, you can't see Egg Harbor's fireworks from Bay Breeze Resort. Egg Harbor is about a 15 minute drive south of the resort.
Thank you for your question, Sarah! Grilling is not permitted at Bay Breeze Resort. There are grills available at Peninsula State Park (there's an entrance a quarter mile from us) or at Sister Bay's waterfront park about 5 miles north of us. Hope this helps!
