We stayed for three nights and definitely check the website before you book, as we took advantage of the winter special and got the stay two nights, get one night free so that was great. We had a studio two bed that had two levels on it. The area is pretty impressive and has a mini kitchen with a stove, microwave, full-sized refrigerator, coffee maker, and even a dishwasher. The second level has an overhang that takes over a good portion of the level and I’m under 6 feet and I had to duck as you could really hurt yourself if you were not paying attention. Each level has a bed and a TV. The living room also has a couch that can fold out into a bed. I tried all three beds and they were just passable. There is an indoor pool that isn’t huge but it does the job and we enjoyed it each day we were there. There is also a whirlpool as well. The lodge wasn’t full since it was the off-season, but I would imagine it’s crazy busy during the summer. There is also a small outdoor pool that was closed due to the season. The staff was very friendly and the owner actually lives on-site he mentioned he can be contacted anytime if an emergency came up so while thankfully nothing major came up, that was comforting to hear. Another nice touch is that they had a separate room you could play ping pong for free, and there was also a small workout room that was just like any standard hotel with a couple of machines. While the overall stay was good, I still can’t give it five stars for a few reasons. We got hit with a junk resort fee of around $40 and had no clue what we got for that. The place still uses old-fashioned keys and that’s a security risk considering the place is completely sold out for the summer months in advance, they could definitely afford to upgrade. Also while it didn’t directly impact our stay, they were doing some renovations so the floorboards were stripped. The snack vending machine was completely empty, and the soda machine was out of items as well. Finally, while I wasn’t expecting a breakfast buffet, at least at a place like this I would expect coffee or even a prepackaged snack like a muffin or cookies to be available. We still would recommend this place and it’s in a good location.

Cleanest room, pool and lounge we've ever seen in a small hotel. Had everything a traveler could need. Great location to use as base for exploring the many wonders of Door County. Excellent manager. Very helpful and knowledgeable of area.

Resort was dated, but they are doing some updating in the hallways and to fireplace in great room. Suite did not have people in for a long time so very dusty an lots of cob webs. Told we were RCI customers so we had different rules than resort. We booked through Wyndem Resorts/Jimmy Buffet, but they sold our reservation through RCI. We had to pay $ 131.00 cleaning fee, even though Suite was not very clean when we arrived. We had to take own trash to other side of parking lot to dispose in trash cans. Owners and regular guest leave outside there doors in morning. Regular guest get fresh coffee pkg every day, we received 1 reg and 1 decaf only for 7 day stay. Told that Owner would stay at another resort because we stayed in there suite. Waterbury made no money off of our stay. This is why we were not treated with the amenities of the resort. We travel 4 to 6 months a year, and have never experienced this at any of our condo's. Staff was very nice and pleasant.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Room layout is good. Close to town, staff reasonably friendly and polite. Guest Laundry was nice. View of woods is nice. However, the smell of musty, basement odor is overwhelming!! Our towels never dried completely due to humidity in room and the thermostat is LOCKED! Remote Control for mini-split HVAC did nothing. Queen bed very uncomfortable and slanted to one side. WiFi is weak signal. Would not stay here again.

My husband, two young children, and I just got back from our stay at the Waterbury Inn and we were so impressed. Not only was the staff friendly and hardworking, but our room (and all pools/common areas) were immaculately clean! My husband and I hope to return yearly! :) A rare gem!!

Just returned from a 2 night stay, mid June. I booked this totally on a whim because we were suppose to go to Boston to see my brother and he ended up with Covid the day of our intended flight! So this trip was just an attempt to salvage a summer vacation.... and I found the Waterbury online, with no particular recommendation, booked it within about 5 minutes of finding it had availability for the next day, and it ended up being a magical stay! Clean, well stocked, cozy, quiet, great room layout, and very close to both Sister Bay and Ephraim. Both pools and the hot tub were excellent and clean- and really not too busy at all even in the heart of June. My 78 year old mom could easily navigate with her walker (though no elevator, which would have been an issue if we were on the 2nd floor) and she had a blast, as did my teen and pre-teen sons. Beautiful flowers and grounds. We enjoyed the cornhole/bags game and the ping pong room as well. Very friendly staff. Thanks for helping us save our vacation! Will definitely return!

This was our first time to Door County. We booked the deluxe one bedroom suite. We were so incredibly impressed with the cleanliness and friendly staff members. I personally have never really liked staying at hotels because you never know what it’s going to be like until ur miles away from home. Well this was a very relaxing get away trip. The Inn is located in a wooded area but still just a short drive into the nearest towns. We had a wooden view from our room and it was so relaxing especially sitting out on the porch in the morning. Everything felt clean and sanitized. We will be back for sure!

This is the second time that we've stayed there, and we'll definitely be back again! We stayed in a two queen studio - it was great having the two separate sleeping areas and also a common area for relaxing in between activities. It's a quiet place to stay with a nice indoor pool and whirlpool to relax in. Perfect place for a girls' weekend made all the better by the welcoming friendliness of Ron, the front desk staff.

We stayed for 3 nights for a girls weekend. The resort was nice, clean and quiet. The room was very comfortable. The pools were warm and nice. The best part was the nice man at the front desk named Ron. He was very helpful and kind which made our stay so enjoyable. I would definitely stay here again.

Waterbury Inn was an excellent place to stay. Note that it is not right in the middle of town. You can’t just walk very many places, but the drives are quite short to restaurants and grocery stores. The facility overall and our room in particular were very clean and very quiet. Cooking facilities: The kitchen worked very well for cooking for two, although there was almost no preparation space because the microwave was on the only counter. There was a dishwasher. We had all necessary utensils, pans, etc. In addition to kitchen cooking, there were two large gas grills on the patio that were available for guests to use. These were complete with appropriate utensils. The staff do clean the utensils—we noted they were dirty as we passed by one day, but when we went to actually use the grills the next day, everything was pristine. Other amenities: The grill patio also has a fire pit with lounging chairs and picnic tables. The rooms have private balconies (ours looked out over a wooded lot, which was quite nice). The indoor pool and hot tub area was great while we were there because it was completely empty except for us. I imagine it is not normally like that. There is a shower available poolside because they request that you shower before entering the pool. The outdoor pool was empty at the time we were there (early June). Noise: The facility was very quiet the whole time we were there, although that was primarily during the week. The room hallways are designated quiet zones, so that might explain why. On the weekend, when we were getting ready to check out, we did hear a bit of foot noise from the people above us, and we could hear doors closing and showers starting up. I suspect since it was the weekend they were busier overall. Temperature: It took us a while to figure out that there actually was some AC because all of the signage related to temperature control mentions leaving things on heating. There was a large AC unit in the living area that works with a remote control, but no cooling in the bedroom except a ceiling fan. However, the windows all open and are screened, so we were cool enough in early June, even at night. Bathroom: The bathroom was fine. The tub/shower had a clothesline that pulled out from the wall, which was convenient for hanging up swimsuits. Location: The location was great for visiting Rock Island. There was a Piggly Wiggly grocery store not too far away. As I mentioned above, you cannot just walk places, but none of the things we wanted to do were very far away. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly return if we were in the area again.
