Pretty average place. It is tired and run down, but charges as if it were a lot more upscale. The grounds are nice, with opportunities for lots of nature watching. Checking in was an issue. Even though I received the confirmation email for my reservation there was quite a mix-up when trying to check-in. It got sorted out, but took...

We stayed 3 nights here, staff were very helpful, friendly.Rooms very clean etc. food was home cooked very tasty. The lounge area was small and needed some TLC. Very pleasant stay for 3 days. Our room overlooked the lawn which stretched to the river, where you could see lots of birds etc.

This place would be great for big party! A huge area off on its own that is set up for a big party with church, eating area, and rooms. A little run down. Wifi by pool which is nice. Food not so good. Better to go local places. Raccoon eating sugar in buffet. My sons loved the pool and great...

Had 3 nights here.Nice open plan reception, bar and restaurant with an outside seating area.Unfortunately the seats were a little uncomfortable and there were not enough cushions to go round. The rooms were as i expected with a view across the green to a river where birds of all kinds flew and iguanas sunbathed. The rooms were fine if a little tired...

Villa Lapas just needs some updating and TLC. The AC in our room blew mostly warm air. The drinking glasses in the room were so dirty as to give me the creeps as was the bedside table top. The room was dark and not inviting. It would have been better without AC and dark drapes. It was reminiscent of a...

We were here with an organized tour and found the hotel really nice - lovely pool, lots of paths to walk around, good food, great service. Hotel is not far from the crocodile bridge which is quite interesting. We did a boat ride on the Taracoles river which was great.

Previous reviews left us wondering what to expect at this hotel. We were actually pleasantly surprised as the rooms were fine and the setting good for wildlife with access to other places of interest. The things that weren't so good (hence only 3 stars) were the food, the service (the staff were often stretched and unsurprisingly not all smiles) and...

Comfortable rooms with several small pools for family groups. We took river-side walks and wooded trails, visited the national park and spent an early evening on the river. All areas were "birdy". Food was good with enough options to satisfy everyone in our group.

Amazing wildlife outside your door. Scarlet macaw's, toucans, howler monkeys greeted you before breakfast. The accommodation was more than adequate, the food simple by wholesome. Our holiday was to see the wildlife so weren't bothered by not staying in a 5* could be anywhere in the world hotel. Only downside was that we weren't there long enough!

I have the displeasure of being at this location as I write, it is by far the worst accommodation I have stayed in in Costa Rica. They were unable to put the a two room booking next to each other. They put one room right next to reception and bar area. Where a school group are very very noisy. This...
