Great resort to stay with children. Rooms are clean and spacious. The kitchen had most equipment needed to make meals. Covid safety protocols were followed and enforced during the stay. Housekeeping was no-contact so they picked up towels and garbage outside of the room with replacements.
We stay at this hotel every time we’re in Door County. Large rooms with a full kitchen, cozy fireplace and patio. Nice pool and hot tub area. Great central location for wineries and great food. Not as hectic as some other areas in Door County.
Room ok but don't think cleaning was completed...in either of the rooms we stayed in since we had to change rooms due to mice! Dishes in dishwasher, etc. Needs some updating. Well located in Egg Harbor, nice outdoor areas. Did I mention there were mice running around in the first room?
I was torn whether or not to write this review. For more than half a decade, the Newport has been my hideaway. I quite selfishly would prefer it stayed a hidden gem, providing the comfort of knowing it's always there for me when I need it. Door County and The Newport hold a special place in my heart. I've been coming here for around a decade and am impressed to see that the rooms, amenities, and common areas continue to be updated, refined, and improved. If you're like myself and looking for a peaceful slice of heaven to stay with those you love most, even if it's only for a few days, look no further. You won't be disappointed. All of the proper measures in regards to cleanliness and safety are being taken in regards to the pandemic. Everyone (both the staff and other guests) are wearing masks and being respectful of each others health. Since the resort is spacious, maintaining social distancing doesn't take much effort. So If you need a vacation but are worried about the risks of COVID, you'll find comfort here. I was living in the heart of San Francisco during the initial outbreak in early-February, so I've got a few more months experience than the rest of the Midwest with the pandemic. This is the only resort in the state that I've confidently recommended to family and friends, especially those who are higher-risk. 2020 has been a crazy year for us all. Since February, I moved back to the Midwest from San Francisco, accepted a job at a new company, and adapted to the "new normal" ... so like those reading this, I was long overdue for a vacation. I initially booked a three night stay after triple-checking that I wasn't getting the resort confused with The Landmark (a mistake I've made once in the past which I elaborate on below). I ended up adding an additional night and would have extended my stay further had I not agreed to dog-sit back in Milwaukee. The rooms are spacious and have all new, top of the line amenities. My room had a brand new Cuisinart coffee maker that I'd had on my wishlist for some time. The bath towels are soft, the bedsheets are a high thread count, and the lighting makes for a romantic, refreshing stay. The gas fueled fireplace (not the fake LED TV kind) is just the icing on the cake. Whoever owns and manages this resort clearly takes pride in their work. Lastly... deciding between The Newport and The Landmark? If you're deliberating between The Newport and The Landmark (both in Egg Harbor), here's my experience. My brother planned a golf outing last year and since I'd been living in California, when he asked where to make reservations, I got the two confused and ended up at The Landmark... a mistake I won't make again. The Landmark is great if you're in you're getting together with old friends to revisit your college years (eg drinking at the pool, playing loud music, being rowdy, and bunking in close quarters). The rooms at The Landmark bring back memories of living in college dorms. They're cramped, outdated, and have zero thought put into their floor plan. If you're looking for a refined, safe, and luxurious place to stay in Egg Harbor, I strongly advise you stay at The Newport. Cheers!…
The location and value for this resort can't be beat. The rooms were clean and updated, although very small. And, the patio was not swept or kept up, so we didn't spend time on it although we wanted to. The location is fantastic, with an easy walk into Egg Harbor restaurants and shops. And, the staff was friendly enough.
