This resort is in a beautiful location. Every area in our building needed updating. The hot tub area was old and run down. We chose to check out one day early. The resort will not refund that portion of our stay. Most hotels will. Three days was really enough to do and see everything we had on our list. Their happy hour is truly only one hour from 4-5 at The Carrington.

The property is beautiful and very lovely. It was a very quiet hotel. The pool was fine for our teens for a quick dip. I will mention our air was not awesome. We had to keep our air until at 60 degrees to keep it cool and our fans were very loud so we couldn’t keep them on. I did call the front desk and they brought up a guy who couldn’t figure out what to do for us so he brought two huge industrial like fans and we kept those on for 2 days. Moving us to another room would have probably been better but we made it work. If we were staying longer I would have asked to love rooms. The staff was friendly (is anyone not friendly in DC?!) and we loved borrowing the pickle ball set! Overall we would stay here again. If you’re going to stay in the room a bit, pay a little extra for a water view. We didn’t and I kinda regret it.

We stayed in Harbor building 2301. View of the pool and Green Bay. The grounds were meticulous and kept up so well. The pools were constantly being cleaned and kept up. INdoor pool and hot tub were great and perfect to use on the last 2 afternoons we were there due to cold front coming through. Beautiful resort. However, the condo we rented out for the week needed some work..and I know that each unit is privately owned, but whoever owns this one should get new furniture The couch and chairs were back-breaking and over used. Upstairs loft queen bed felt as if it were stuffed with beach balls. Tiny kitchen but it had the basics. Only 2 rolls of TP in the bathroom, so I called for more mid-week and housekeeping apparently forgot. I ended up going to the front desk to ask for more. 1 was given 1 roll. Seriously?? A high end resort and the patrons have to beg for more than 1 roll by asking at the reception desk. Applause to whomever took photos of the 2 bedroom /loft condos and their use of photo filters that make the bedrooms appear larger than they are. There was barely room to get around the beds. Condo needed repainting, new carpet and for crying out loud, buy some new furniture! Also..a suggestion: PLEASE PROVIDE WARDROBE HANGERS We had 2. The upstairs loft has ZERO Would we stay again? Probably not.

We came last year and stayed in a 1b1b that we reserved through Airbnb. I was perfect. Perfect view and well appointed. Very clean. The only thing we didn’t like was a queen size bed that was very small. I booked this years trip last October. Went through Landmark direct this time. Got a 1b1b king with water view. Not loving it as much this time. The unit itself needs updating and repairs. The lock literally fell of the door the first day here. The threshold to the unit is duct taped down, the fan in the bedroom appears to be original to the 1985 build. Carpet needs a deep clean or better yet changed out completely. For almost 2k for a week I would have thought it would have been better. This is in the Harbor Bldg unit 2217. Not sure we will be back.

Good: beautiful property, nice pools, fun walking path, great mattress, and clean towels. Quiet. Staff works hard, lots of kids and families having fun. Not so good: Steep stairs to the upper room are too difficult for my mother and sister to navigate. Room and building’s common areas in need of a refresh- especially the carpet and upholstered furniture which hold the odors and marks of many year’s continual usage. The interiors are dark ( looking into the woods) no matter the number of lights we turn on. It’s reminiscent of my crazy, old, uncle’s home and it’s not Thanksgiving. So, I’m enjoying my family, the outside beauty, and the cherry pie.

This was always are go to place to stay in Door Co. Our last stay was disappointing. The room was in need of a good dusting , there were alot of cobwebs. The mattress sagged and was very uncomfortable. The ice machine was broken in our building the entire stay . The carpet in the hallways was dirty. The owners need to reinvest some of the profits back into these rooms . The furniture and decor is very tired looking . I won’t be wasting my hard earned money staying here again .

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Our room smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. There were not any other rooms to switch into. They gave us air freshener, which did nothing. We opened the windows to air it out. It didn’t do a thing. The owners of this condo obviously smoke as the smell is permeated into the furniture, carpet, and bedding. The smell of smoke is strongest coming from the owner’s closet. The worst part is that the hotel knows this and passes the room off anyway. After this happened, I read TripAdvisor reviews of other people who had the exact same thing happen. The manager told me they would be deep cleaning the room after we left, yet as I checked out, there were people checking into that exact same room. When we got home, we could still smell cigarette smoke on our clothes. We were offered a different room the second night, but it would have involved repacking and hauling all of us stuff up the steps (no elevator), packing up the car, and driving to another building. The room was dirty. Cob webs all over. It’s a small condo. Running a duster would have taken a few minutes. Sheets and blankets stained. Carpet dirty. We took the kids to the outdoor pool, but it was filled with drunk people blaring music and swearing. Went to the indoor pool instead and went to the bathroom. The toilet was overflowing with poop. The buildings all say “non smoking property,” yet as we were walking out in the morning an employee walked INSIDE the BUILDING while smoking and continued to smoke inside! I’ve stayed here before. It used to be nice. Grounds and landscaping are no longer maintained well, all gone to weeds around the buildings. Room should never have been rented. Completely unethical to rent out a condo in a “nonsmoking property” where the manager clearly knows the room stinks. Shame on them.

When we checked into our Waterside room for our anniversary weekend, the smell hit us, it smelled like someone just smoked 3 packs of cigarettes in our room, the cigarette smell was deep in the furniture, carpets, everywhere!! The smell was giving us a headache right away. This hotel is supposed to be non-smoking....how did the cleaning crew not smell this? We immediately opened all the windows to try and air out and called the front desk. They said there was NOTHING they could do for us and that the hotel was booked… We decided to open all the windows and leave for a few hours to see if it airs out. We come back and the smell is still terrible. This time we go to the front desk to speak to someone in person. Again there is nothing they can do for us except for move us into a Woodside room the next day….They did not offer a discount or comp for this issue. Even though we paid MORE for the Waterside room. That’s why we stay here for a waterside room NOT a woodside room. They suggest for now they would send someone to clean the room again. We are back in the room, We hear a knock on the door and let the housekeeper in to clean…The housekeeper sprays 3 spritz of febreeze and says ‘do you need anything else?’ Are you kidding me?! What is 3 sprays of febreeze going to do?! Nothing! The beds were not comfortable and the fan was covered in dust!!! We will be looking for someone new to stay next time!

I wanted to love this place! And there is some to love. Great pools and views! But when your 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite smells like a fry vat there is a problem. When we entered to suite I could smell fried food. I had brought a sanitizing odor spray so I wasn't too concerned. When I sprayed and sprayed and still couldn't get the odor to go away it became very concerning. At night some of us couldn't even sleep...that is how bad the smell was. In the morning we opened all the windows, even went into town and bought an expensive candle that was suppose to take away odors, nothing would take away this smell. At first I thought are we by the restaurant...are the ventilation systems connected. But the restaurant was not near the suite we were in. Then when we opened up the pull out couch there were crumbs all over the bed. We went to put sheets on it and the mattress pad had dirt marks on it. Went to get a blanket and one of the blankets had a big spot on it. Just didn't start off our weekend family trip very well. We indicated we had 6 in our party so you would think they would make sure the pull out couch and the bedding were clean. I wanted to complain but my 8 month pregnant daughter was afraid they would bring in chemicals to get the smell out so we suffered through it. I really think the smell is in the carpeting or coming from the vents. We looked all over for the source to try to make it better. Doesn't matter how beautiful a resort is when your whole suite.....every single room....reeks...that is pretty much all you can think about. We got home and hung jackets outside and washed everything we had with us as the smell permeated it all. Very disappointed!!!

We had to change rooms due to a water heater issue. Another room in our party didn't have much hot water and very little water pressure. They were told everything was working fine by the maintenance department. The units are a nice size but starting to show wear and tear .
