Very nice, clean functional room. We really enjoyed playing some oldies on the turntable in the room. The bar/restaurant area was exceptional for having cocktails and listening to jazz night. The location was very convenient to downtown restaurants and entertainment. The only area for improvement is the flat screen TV was pretty small for such a well appointed room. I would definitely stay at the Oxbo again.
We loved this unique hotel in Eau Claire! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable! The rooms were cozy and modern. We loved the Lakely and our bartender James- food board was amazing. I would highly recommend 100%
This is the place to stay when you’re attending a performance at the Pablo Center at the Confluence. Within walking distance from the Pablo and many restaurants and bars. This is the happening place to be in Eau Claire. Oh! And there’s a turntable in every room with a nice library of vinyl records in the lobby you can check out for free.
Loved this place. Kind of retro. Nicely put together. Every little detail. Every room has a record player. If they don’t have records you like. EauClaire has a great record store. Revival Records. Go there. Buy records. Play them at The Oxbow Hotel.
Excellent stay! I went on a Sunday night and the room was spotless, very comfortable. For a solo traveler, I always felt very safe and welcomed. Cool decor, felt very homey. I liked that there were plenty of outlets within easy reach for chargers, et.
We stayed in town for a wedding at a local brewery. This is a unique hotel, where each room has a record player. We had trouble with our mini fridge, called the front desk, and within 10 minutes they brought us a new one. There are a few cute, local shops within walking distance. We also enjoyed the service, food and drinks at the restaurant. Staff was very friendly and personable.
We spent one night here. The building is nicely restored for sure. Check in was quick. Our room was in the attached building on the second floor. It was sort of retro looking but not really to the period. Who uses a tennis racket as a wall decoration. The bed was comfortable. The record player was quirky but we did not use it. The hotel is downtown and not very soundproof. Until the motorcycles stopped running the streets around midnight it was loud. We were given a wooden nickel for a drink. However we could not use it as we were told the entire bar was booked for a wedding reception. When looking down on the area from our room most of the night only 6-8 people were at one table. The rest wide open. The restaurant was booked for the same reception until after 7:00. So if you stay there make sure you can use the amenities. Otherwise you have to go elsewhere. And they didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. The breakfast was a donut, coffee and an apple or orange. Not very good for a place that has a lot of competition in the area. The woman at checkout took my keys and never said a word. I was not impressed by any of the staff I encountered.…
My wife and I are veteran travelers and normally don’t say anything remotely negative. The hospitality business can be tough and a lot of the negative comments I’ve seen seem to come from people who irritatingly just want to find something wrong. Our two-night stay August 5-6 stay in a Queen Suite (room 22 in the old building) at the Oxbow Hotel in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was pretty good – renovated building and rooms, good service, relatively close to the downtown walkways and a lot of the new buildings, eateries and pubs around. The restaurant and bar are attractive and good, with outside seating. There was live entertainment that we didn’t know was going to happen but did cut off with minimal disruption at around 11 PM. The décor is kind of an “atmosphere” that you either like or don’t like. Very modern; not particularly my taste but I’m sure it will work for many. Eau Claire has become a kind of liberal cultural center in the midst of rural Wisconsin, very progressive or woke, depending on your viewpoint. Worked for us. It wasn’t cheap. I think our room was just south of $200.00. Soi, with that having been said, and expecting quite a bit given Trip Advisor’s ratings…. (1) The view from our room was, as the attached photo shows, somewhere out of a New York City low-rise bulding, Looking out onto an air handler, piping and a roof was, well, something we wish we had known about at the very least. We asked for a room change but they were fully booked. So, the point is, be advised; check your view or don’t expect a good one. (2) The Breakfast was “sparse” – to say the least; maybe there was something special served but it was beyond me to find it We were able to find nice breakfast places nearby (3) Post-stay service: Well, I left a very unique charging cord to an electrical device I use; it’s not really replaceable without buying the device itself I found a day or so after we left that it wasn’t with me so I called the hotel and spoke to a very nice woman who promptly looked for it and found it. Great news. She said they would send it to me UPS and charge my credit card. About 8 days later it had never arrived, and, as of today, still hasn’t. I called back to ask if they had a tracking number. Nope, no tracking number. Perhaps I should have asked them to put a tracking number on it but I should have thought this was standard practice. It appears to be gone or as one says in German “spurlos verschwunden” – gone without a trace. It’s a good hotel and needs to provide better information at the very least, about the view from the rooms, the breakfast, and well, use a tracking number when returning something to a guest.…
The Oxbow was a great boutique hotel with a wonderful location. The room is welcoming, bright and comfortable. The bed is very comfortable and we slept so well. The cleanliness of the hotel and room was outstanding and you are within walking distance of restaurants and bars if you choose to not stay on property for food and drinks. Would definitely stay here again and again.
I grew up in Eau Claire and returning for a reunion so I know the City and area very well and chose this Hotel based on recommendations from my friend living there. The Oxbow has the feel of the ‘old Eau Claire’ downtown but with both the Hotel and Restaurant giving off an updated vibe.. BTW—If you like to walk or ride bikes, take a left or right once out the front door and you are headed East along the Eau Claire River or West then North along the Chippewa River and Phoenix Park both with dedicated paved trails.
