#4 of 12 hotels in Eagle River
On the waterfront of the Eagle River chain of 28 lakes between Watersmeet and Yellow Birch lakes. The Inn has 14 cozy knotty pine paneled rooms. The 6 waterfront cottages have kitchens with enclosed porches. Enjoy the private grounds sunbathing, volleyball, a few shots at hoops, fishing off the dock, wading in the water and finish the day by roasting marshmallows on the fire pits. We are encompassed by Chequamegon - Nicolet National Forest, Northern Highland American Legion Sate Forest and Vilas County Forest that have XC ski, bike and hiking trails. Enjoy a day of fishing for Muskies, Walleye, Bass or pan fish in one of the over 1300 lakes or Trout in one of the many clear streams. Look for a Bald Eagle, Ruff Grouse, Deer, Bear or any of the other wildlife. We have access to over 600 miles of groomed Snowmobile Trails just across the street. Being only one mile west of downtown Eagle River, other activities and dining are a quick walk or drive. For those of you that need the outside connections we have cable TV and Wireless Internet Connections or just sit near the water’s edge and relax.

In a word, gross. (And we just spent the last 4 days canoe camping in the dirt and grime, so anything with hot showers should have been heaven comparatively.) Not happy with this place at all. We like to frequent local, family-owned establishments when we travel. We find the experience more authentic and a chance to connect more with people in each community. Because of this, we expect a certain level of... quirkiness and a more “relaxed” level of service. This place was dilapidated and filthy however, with no evidence in pride of ownership. Room reeked of smoke. (He had an ozone machine in our room when we arrived, so we should have cancelled right then and there.) Blankets on bed are piled and need to be replaced. Upholstery is filthy. Bathroom has grime on shelving and walls. Shower tiles appear to have been painted over multiple times. Blinds are haggard and broke down. Paint and finishes were chipped and flaking. The exterior of the place is even worse. The paint and stain on the whole place is delaminating. We like old, quirky and charming. This place is neglected, in severe disrepair and worth nowhere near the rates they’re charging. Your money is better spent at one of the many other family-owned places in the area. Keep a wide berth from this place.

LOVE THIS PLACE! Stayed here this past March for a couple days of snowmobiling and I couldn't have been more satisfied. Fritz, the proprietor, is incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I arrived later than anticipated on a frozen Sun. night, but he stayed in contact with me via phone to make sure I wasn't lost and kept the light on for me. Toy Shop rentals is just across the street. Best place for sled-heads to stay as there is ample parking for your sleds and trail access straight from the motel! Let's be clear, this is a motel. In the Northwoods of WI. Throw your regular hotel conventions to the side and take these lodgings for what they are: cozy, rustic, and relatively inexpensive. The walls are thinner, so if noise is an issue for you, bring earplugs or use a white noise app on your phone. There was construction underway while I was there and I slept as snug as a bug in a rug. I was alone and had ample room for my luggage & gear, however w/ 2 people the room might be a bit cramped (but are you really going to be spending the day in your room when you're in Eagle-freakin-River?! ). My requirements were a comfortable place to sleep & shower, which the motel fulfilled admirably; bathroom is small but clean. The location being just outside town keeps you isolated from all the hub-bub and the river is just behind the building, giving you that "in the woods" feel. Also, the complimentary coffee from Eagle River Roasters was a nice touch! Would I stay here again? YES.

We visited town for getaway. Booked first night with Booking.com... and decided to stay for a second night . The location is just perfect for someone to experience the serenity of up north living... Gorgeous sunset , fresh air and smell of bone fire... In addition, Small pier is available if you are into fishing , volleyball net and small playground if you are traveling with kids. ATV /UTV rental across the street called Toy Shop. Really nice people. Rooms are updated and well maintained (it IS an older building ). The owner is really working hard in keeping his property in good shape. Overall great experience. We will return!

Mostly OK. But, be forewarned, the walls are thin. We stayed four nights in the Inn/motel. Positives - the owner is very friendly and the grounds are nicely landscaped. Also, the room was basically clean except for one cobweb by the door that I cleaned up. Negatives - The room is a bit smaller then most chain motels, the shower area is kind of tight, and the walls are thin. One night our neighbor (who apparently is there Monday through Thursdays for work) talked on his phone until 1:30AM and the next night until 3:00 AM. We could hear every word, laugh and giggle. Annoying sleepless nights. Finally, we complained to the owner who said he has had similar complaints about the same guest before. The owner took care of the problem. Except for the noisey neighbor/thin walls Edgewater is an OK place. I will not stay there again because of the potential noise caused by the thin walls we experienced.

Nice little cabin. Cozy. Cabin #1 had front porch AND enclosed porch too. Kitchen. Can rent boats. Heater could've been more powerful. Fritz will talk your ear off if you let him. Lots of brochures in the Front lobby ...helpful for finding other things to do in the area.
