It was a packed hotel for the winter stay we were up there for. Continental breakfast was great considering what hotels could do during Covid restrictions in Jan 2021. Everything kept packaged and sanitary and I loved that I had a breakfast sandwich I could heat up in my room microwave. Rooms rustic and comfortable. Renee was very helpful during our stay. She went above and beyond for us. She made me feel like she really cared that we had a great stay. Although we do not have pets, you must like them. Pet friendly hotel.

We have stayed at the Hiawatha for 20+ years. Previous management for the past year were not good. The hotel is now under new management and making many improvements. The hotel is being remodeled. Check in&out were a breeze. Everytime I needed anything there was someone at the front desk to help me. The hallways and room smelled nice and clean. I like this hotel and made our reservation for next year before we left this morning.

We recently stayed here after seeing such high ratings. Boy, is this place overrated. The bed was comfortable, but that is where the good ends. There was no one to check us in arriving around 3:00 pm. We thought our room would at least have a lake view, but it did not. Baseboards are missing in the hallway, carpeting in room looks like it was from the 1970's, futon is old and provides no support, there is no extra security lock on the doors, the toilet does not have a lid that closes (disgusting--imagine the germs that fly around), the microwave, coffee maker and fridge are directly outside the bathroom (gross), the curtains look old, the chair outside was ripped, the layout of the room is very bizarre, there were beams on the ceiling that looked like caulk had dried and was dripping down. Looks like only 4 rooms have a lake view. Breakfast was not good either. I've stayed at many places in Eagle River. This was the worst. Do not plan on ever going back here.

When I pay $170+/night for lodging, I expect a clean and safe room in good repair, with all of the amenities as advertised, to include superior customer service. Unfortunately, all of these things fell well short of being acceptable. Here are the highlights: The room had the king bed with futon (room #21), which was comfortable, but was not able to be placed in the full, upright position. The coffee maker had an old, dried coffee filter in the basket. The toilet was leaking and wobbly. The internet (Wi-Fi) was not functioning. The door facing the parking lot had no secondary device for security. Not that this wasn't bad enough, the staff was not only unresponsive to our concerns, they were very rude and unprofessional. We are long-time visitors (30+ years) and now local property owners in the area for the past 5 years so this type of issue is disturbing to us. We are strong advocates of supporting local/small business whenever possible and would like to patronize these type of establishments whenever possible, but this gives us pause.

Very disappointed with this “lodge”, which was definitely in a sad state of disrepair. The disgusting giant stained plywood ceiling, with wires periodically hanging out, mattress stacked in the lobby and general unclean appearance(wish I would’ve taken some pictures). We received no welcome at front desk and actually were shocked by how unfriendly they all seemed. The price for an extremely dated motel room was close to $140! Do yourself a favor & go elsewhere. Not sure how this place is staying in business, as it’s just plain dumpy
