Lucky to get a last minute room here as everything was full as usual and we had not planned on being here. Got number 10 on the back side which overlooked the river and it was beautiful to watch all the boats go by and peaceful setting to sit outside
Best deal in villas county Parking lot and office very cluttered but apparently you are allowed to use the bikes there sitting in front. Great old dog meet you at the door clean pet friendly hotel right on the river. Was asking owner where a good place to rent a kayak was and he said he had some we could use absolutely no charge cannot beat that
We have a king size bed, WiFi, microwave, fridge , coffee maker and a very clean charming room. We over look the river and there is a dock and patio. There is a log cabin supper club next door with a bar that is always good.
The location of Bridgewater Inn with frontage on Eagle River made it such a great place to stay. It was easy access to the river so being able to boat and kayak and jet ski was fun and hassle free. Sitting on the deck in the evening was great for watching the sunset and enjoying the fire pit. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was a great 1st stay in Eagle River and I will definitely stay at the Bridgewater when I go back.
We stayed 3 nites. Apartment for families was great...it accommodated almost our whole family. Great deck on the water. We had lots of fun. This was our first family vacation together....and our kids are now adults with their own families. So we appreciated that a lot. Loved in on the deck out by the river.. Beds were awesome. Showers and air conditioning need a lot of work. Showering is overrated any way. LOL.Lots of fun. Firepit was great on the deck for evening fun. Thanks again for making it a fun vacation.
I have stayed here 3 times, while up north.Staff pleasant, price fair, and rooms clean.Boat dock no charge.Surprised to see a couple of disappointed reviews.Going back in early summer.Dropped our kayak right in the river.Nice bike route close.4 blocks from downtown and a nice restaurant next door.Love the deck overlooking the river.
My spouse and I have been coming to the Bridgewater Inn for many years. We have been coming up there long before the current owners took over. This place is very old and could use allot of updates, however, it is still a lovely place to stay. We have a boat and we love being able to have the boat right outside our hotel door. There is a nice place to eat right next door and many places to eat at, shop, etc. right in town which is a very close walk. Carol, who owns the place, is a lovely lady and we always look forward to seeing her. (and her dog :) ) The price for the hotel is reasonable because of their location. We are looking forward to going there again in July :) (Haven't been there since July of 2014) My review will say July 2015 but that is incorrect as it would not let me select 2014. We have been here enough to know it is a great place to stay. :)…
My wife and 2 kids took a boating trip from Three Lakes to the Eagle River chain of lakes this past Labor Day weekend and we thought it would be nice if, at the end of the boating day, we got a room to say in rather than rushing to make it back before dark. A few days before the trip, I called a few places in Eagle River and settled on the Bridgewater Inn. I looked briefly on their website and the pictures looked ok. I made a dreadful mistake of not reading the reviews on Trip Advisor! I liked that we could dock our boat and walk up to the room, since we didn’t have a car. She told me that I could park my brand new boat in her boat house. It was odd to me that no one was using the boat house on the busy weekend. Seems that if you park it next to the boat house on the piers, people throw cigarette butts off of the top of it at night when partying and they had an incident of a boat getting ruined recently, according to Carol the owner. Carol seemed to be a nice person at the time and we talked briefly about room preferences. She asked if I would like a king size bed or 2 queens. I said 2 queens. Never did she ask how many kids we had. Just 1 king or 2 queens (this becomes important later). I was taken back at the overall $92.82 room rate due to the sketchy pictures on-line and that it was a motel in northern Wisconsin, but thought that this was the Labor Day weekend and they may be that busy. Carol took my credit card # and reserved the room for Saturday night for the agreed on price. Upon arrival around 5:00pm Saturday night, the parking lot was less than ½ full. I thought that was odd since this should be one of the busiest nights of not only the week but of the summer. Carol was not at the front desk. A man named Bob was. Bob had no idea what he was doing. He was nice but very much disorganized. Bob couldn’t find our reservation in the messy pile on the desk. He even asked me what Carol quoted me for a price. Again…odd. Carol finally wondered in and we got things going again. Once the price was figured out, Bob gave me 1 key. I asked for an additional key. The 2nd key he gave me was for a different room and didn’t work in our lock. I had to go back and return it. He said he would figure it out and get me one later. Again…odd that he would hand me someone else’s room key. How safe is that? On that note, if you are looking for a room where you feel safe, this is not the place. They use the old fashion key system. Who knows how many people out there have a key to your room. There are no dead-bolts on the door, just a cheap lock set knob. You are right on the Highway and cars pull up within feet of your door and window. The light bulb in my head was flickering at this point but didn’t quite go off. I asked Bob to show us the room before I committed to taking it. He agreed to the showing. Upon entering the room, my daughter’s eyes were a big a saucers. She began to get tears in her eyes. She looked at me and said, “Dad, I can’t stay here, it is disgusting”. By this time, I was running out of options. My wife and I discussed what to do and at this point it was either sleep in the boat or take the room. We took the room. When hauling our belonging up from the boat, we noticed a number of folks milling around smoking and staring at us. It dawned on me, this is a rooming house and a motel. People stay here long-term. You know the type of people… As far as the room goes, there was mold on the shower curtain and on the window in the shower. The water pressure in the shower was good until someone else in the building turned their water on, then the shower water pressure when down to a dribble. The A/C worked but it was behind the thick window curtain and blocked the air flow. We checked for bed bugs and found several items of food under the mattresses. There was someone else’s hair on the toilet and sink we observed prior to us using. You could hear dripping all night, the floor squeaked badly and the highway noise was very loud. Our room was #6. In the morning, we cleaned up the room nicely and made the beds. We even took pictures of how nice we left it because I was getting a feeling we were not done with this night just yet. We were out around 9:00am. We got in the boat, drove away and were happy to be out of that mess. It doesn’t end there. I check my on-line credit card statement and saw that Carol charged me for an extra $31.57. I have no idea what that could be. I immediately called her to ask what the charge was for. She said she is charging me for extra guests that I never reported. She said that although she couldn’t remember if she told me about the charge she said I should have known that there was an extra charge for additional people and she is sticking with the charge. This is absurd! This was never discussed nor disclosed by her prior to us renting the room. This room was not worth $92/night, I certainly would not have paid $124/night for this dump. Carol is not backing down from her fabricated story of the mystery extra guest charges. She seems to be the type of person who takes advantage of out of town guests and tries to suck out every cent she can, without remorse. I will dispute this charge with my credit card company. The big loss here is not the money but rather our family’s experience. It was awful! If I could turn back time, I would have never put my family through this misery and we would have never stayed at the Bridgewater Inn, Eagle River WI. I should have read the poor reviews on-line before I booked this stay. This was a big mistake! Carol should be ashamed of how she runs her motel business.…
If you get a room on the lower level - that is the back of the motel facing the river - it is a beautiful view. And you won't hear the highway noise in the back (although maybe boat noise in the summer.) However the rooms themselves have some issues. I love quaint old roadside motels, so it sort of pains me to complain about the condition of the rooms, but you really do have to keep the place up. We had a queen bed and one set of bunks. Queen spread had a (burn?) hole. Sheet had stain, though it looked clean otherwise and crisp. There was a constant tapping noise all night which I think might have been dripping water upstairs, or maybe a melting icicle. Every time someone used water upstairs - faucet, shower, toilet - it was very loud downstairs. Water in shower was plenty strong and hot right away. However, the shower curtain had mildew. I don't really care if the tile, floor, and paint is pretty old and warped, but you might. Very nice staff. We were there in winter, so I can't say what the noise, view, or room is like in summer. Very close to everything in Eagle River. You could easily walk to the downtown in a couple minutes. So for convenience, it's great. But I still think it was overpriced, considering the time of year and condition of rooms.…
After arriving in Eagle River at the original place we rented and being thoroughly disappointed we were lucky to find the Bridgewater Inn. Carol and her husband Marv showed us around and set us up in a room perfect for us. This property is wonderful. You can walk to downtown or the grocery store and yet it is on the River with docking for many boats. There are two really nice decks and at nite we and Carol and other tenants sat out at a fire together. The assistant Henry was a huge help to us in many ways. We felt comfortable as with family and will return again and recommend to friends and family.
