I stayed here for 1 night in July 2019 and the review in quotes below from another traveler posted in 2018 still applies. Way overpriced - go down the street to Amerivu where they have AAA rates well below here and with heated pool/hot tub. Other area hotels are similar price but modern and clean. Rice Lake is a better option. Carpet in the room had rips/cuts in it, stains and looked horrible. I accidentally spilled a little coffee on it but you would not have known - it blended in. "This hotel was clean, but in need of updating, There are no coffee makers, microwave, or mini fridge in standard double rooms. No continental breakfast, but there is coffee in the lobby area. Tv was a box tv, which could also be updated. Linens in need of being updated. Again it was a clean motel, but way too costly for the area, and for what you get. Notes on the doors telling you to turn the air conditioner off if you leave the room. Also the charge of $10 per hour for late check out or early check in is ridiculous."…

Island Inn is OK, but it depend a lot on the room as there doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency. Stayed there twice in the last year. First time it was actually good, the second time less so. Showing its age. Store donuts and iffy coffee is the "breakfast". Unfortunately, its competition (Cumberland Inn) has been poor in the past.
Room 14 fan in the bathroom needs to be fixed...sounded like I was going to take off! The price quoted on the phone to my friend was NOT the price we were charged. Stuffy check in area....veiling fans should have been on.
We have stayed here in the past. Good price and friendly local owners. The only thing we had an issue with this time was the bed. Both my wife and I have back problems so it may be us and not the bed. Otherwise, everything was fine. One thing about a small town is it is near most everything. Cumberland is an active small town.
Rooms were clean and service was professional and friendly. It was nothing special but quiet and met our needs. Didn't partake of the breakfast as we were having brunch at my daughters house. I would recommend this place for a quiet and inexpensive night.
My wife and I spent several nights at the motel as we were in town to see a grandson play football and another in a concert and play. This was our third time staying at this particular motel. The motel is a local family owned business and they were extremely friendly and helpful. We asked if there was an iron and ironing board in the room and they said no but, they would have one for us. My wife did not bring her hair dryer with her and the motel owner had one for her to use. The continental breakfast was not what I would call sufficient so, if you are hungry in the morning I would suggest going to one of the local restaurants. The motel is located on the north edge of town but is only a short drive to the center of the town. We will not hesitate to stay there again.
Stayed a couple of nights. Was a budget stay. Got exactly what I paid for. Someone should run the vacuum along the walls in the room. Did not have breakfast as I am a early riser and was long on the road. Would stay again unless I find something in the nearby area at the same cost then I would be inclined to try it out first. Like I said, okay for price.
Perfect small motel with excellent service Quiet, peaceful, restful in a perfect location. Very clean small rooms with comfortable beds. The continental breakfast made for a perfect start to both days my daughter and I were there. Thank you Mark and Melody for being the perfect hosts on a couple of very stressful days.
I booked a room at the Island Inn online with fingers crossed. I was not only bringing my family up to Cumberland, I was also bringing my mom and stepdad along to give them a little vacation. While we stayed at in-laws cabin at the lake close by, I booked this hotel for my parents. I could tell that it was the closest in proximity to our campsite and appeared to be clean from the pictures on the website. As we drove into town I noticed some of the other motels and started to get really nervous about my choice. My mom (like every mom) can be pretty critical so I was prepared for the worst, but much to my relief, Island Inn was just as clean as they had advertised and the owner was super friendly. My parents were absolutely delighted with their stay and had nothing but nice things to say about the inn. I was pleased that I had made a good choice and it didn't hurt my wallet too much. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Cumberland.…
