I booked a 5 night stay at this motel for my guided bobcat hunt. Nice enough place as others have stated, but beware, once you pay them they’re keeping your money! Two days into my hunt the weather turned to crap, and a winter storm warning was issued for the following day. My guide, Randy, called off the rest of my hunt and invited me to come back later in the season to try to get my bobcat. He was very understanding and accommodating. This motel was not! I only stayed there 3 nights, but I had paid for 5 nights when I first got there. They weren’t willing to work with me at all to help resolve the situation I was in! They pointed to their 72 hour cancellation policy, and told me that they weren’t going to give me any of my money back. They didn’t even offer to let me come back at a later date to spend my final 2 nights - which I had already paid for! It’s not like I wanted to leave early. I didn’t have a choice. I would have been snowed in if I would have stayed! Rest assured that I won’t be staying at this motel again when I go back up there to try to get my bobcat!…
We have visited this little gem tucked into Clam Lake Wisconsin on many occasions. It is the epitome of the "general store" in any rural community. Wide variety of general grocery items, they also have fresh meat, ground beef, steaks, chicken, sausage, as well as fresh, local produce. Great selection of camping, fishing tackle, and lots of clothing options from sweatshirts/pants, hoodies, t shirts for toddlers through adults. Always enjoy our visit here, and is a must know for those camping/ vacationing in the area. They also have a small hotel attached, as well as a post office. 3 restaurants/bars are within walking distance. Highly recommended!
Room was spacious, clean, comfortable and convenient. Hubs appreciated the cable tv choices. Everyone who works there was helpful and friendly with great ideas of things to see and do in the area. Special thanks to Colleen. The location is central to trails and lakes in the Chequamegon National Forest. Can get to Bayfield and southern shore of Lake Superior in about an hour for a nice day trip. Great place to stay!
Great value, clean, quiet. Would stay again. The attached store and PO have everything needed in a pinch. The restaurant across the street had a good breakfast and the Ransom's Place (one door east) had great fried chicken and pizza. Only 21 miles from North Star Camp for Boys.
This little stop on our motorcycle trip was so much fun. The motel attached to the convenience store is beautiful and easy on the wallet. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. Good food at the Elkhorn and fun times in the bar. If you like laid back and beautiful scenery, this is a great stop!! Wanted to stay two nights, just didn’t work out. We will return!!
