Was fortunate enough to escape my real world and head to Canoe Bay for a long weekend. After a decent flight to Minneapolis and about a 2.5 hour ride, we arrived in Chetek and stopped at Gordys in the downtown area and picked up a few things. Then on to Canoe Bay. The directions from the emails had us nervous... More

Beautiful resort and location! We loved canoe bay and plan to return next time we need an escape from the daily grind. It's peaceful, serene and beautiful. The pros: The lake, docks and views Great food and staff The canoes/boats for use The hiking trails The cons: We stayed in one of the lodge rooms. The library/shared space was great.... More

Canoe Bay is a special place where escaping from the hectic pace of life is possible. Once we checked in, we worried about nothing! Our breakfast was delivered to our cottage. On our first night, our dinner was delivered to us too. On the second night we had a wonderful meal at their restaurant. The chef does a great job... More

Our trip to Canoe Bay was unforgettable. They have all the details down to make you feel right at home. The website is not lying when they say its secluded. We called before arriving because we had a few last minute questions. They were very friendly and more than happy to assist us. Once we arrived, we were greeted with... More

Canoe Bay is the perfect place to relax, recharge your batteries and reconnect with nature. When I first saw our Dream Cottage from the exterior, I thought it rather plain and unremarkable. The interior was great, though, with extremely comfortable furniture, a two-sided fireplace, a whirlpool and a nicely appointed bathroom. We sat on our deck with a lovely lake... More

We just visited for our 7th annual trip to Canoe Bay and this review is long overdue! We love Canoe Bay. We are city folk and we love the peacefulness that Canoe Bay provides. We spend our days canoeing, walking the trails, walking the garden (John is so knowledgable!) and just enjoying being unplugged! We find the service to be... More

Relaxing and peaceful. A let down as a Relais and Chateau, food is wildly over priced. No choice with only one dish each night, good quality but as said before much too expensive. It is too far from town for there to be any other alternative. Not a Relais.

We’re so gratified that “peaceful and relaxing” are your primary takeaways from staying with us. Regarding food pricing as a criterion for being “a Relais,” there are as wide a variety of food experiences available at Relais & Châteaux-member properties as there are cuisines in the world. Canoe Bay’s pricing is in keeping with being located very remotely to any... More

Green and secluded were my first thoughts as I drove towards Canoe Bay. The resort is about half a mile front the main road. Checkin was straightforward and friendly. I was instructed about how to go about with breakfast (which is delivered to the door at 2 different times), lunch (which I skipped during my whole stay) and dinner (which... More

We've been to Canoe Bay on four separate occasions. We've stayed in one of the smaller rooms right off the library twice, a larger "Honeymoon Suite" (not on our honeymoon) that was in the same building as the restaurant and a stand alone cabin just a few doors down from the restaurant. One each occasion we dined almost exclusively, three... More

I tried to find out whether "ideal for couples" meant that it was inappropriate for a couple and two adult children. But the website was unhelpful and two calls to the hotel went unanswered and unreturned, It makes me disinclined to go there in the future.

I can appreciate your frustration and extend apologies on behalf of everyone in Reservations. We are at a loss to understand how two calls would have gone unanswered; there perhaps was a voicemail glitch. Again, we are so sorry for missing the opportunity to serve you! Canoe Bay IS an appropriate place to visit as a couple with two adult... More
