A birthday treat for me. The hotel's handicapped parking was a lucky extra adjacent to the rear entrance. The owner, Wendy, gracious, helpful. The breakfast bountiful, delicious. I recommended it to my physical therapist who promptly went with her husband for their 45th anniversary and agreed. We liked the entire visit enough to return and plan to do so. The restaurants, within easy distance, were each good- as well as also the QUILT AND FINE FIBERS MUSEUM, which opened for us even though normally closed on Mon.& Tue. That's the sort of town it is. For us it was just dumb luck!
Thoroughly enjoyed our couples getaway. Loved the fireplace in our room. Decor was charming. Fresh towels delivered to our door was so lovely. Peaceful and calming retreat. Delicious breakfast in the gathering room each morning. Will definitely return!
I have stayed here a number of times and always had a great experience. This was the first visit since the pandemic and I was a little disappointed. Although the room was super clean as always and I understand it’s an old building, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling. I always enjoy the wine and cheese social hour, however, there was only sweet wine available. There should be dry wine for people who don’t like sweet. They used to serve dry red, not sure why that has changed unless it’s a cost saving measure. The breakfast pastries were great. However the egg dish was sub par at best. I also think they have raised room rates quite a bit and for that reason I think the stay was just average and a little disappointing.
Amazing!! It was so cute! The little town it’s in looks straight out of a Hallmark movie! Location is perfect! Staff was so nice! Everything was so clean! Breakfast was perfect! I can’t say enough great things about it! We will be back for sure!
This was a nice little boutique hotel. The service was very friendly. The room was very small, but nice. We had only planned on staying for the night, so we didn't need a lot of space. The bed was comfortable and there was a full size soaking / hot tub in the bathroom that easily fit two people in it. They had a continental breakfast with lots of options, but honestly there are a lot of good breakfast places in town. Only downside was our room was literally right next to the lobby and an elevator, so we heard a lot of movement when we were in our room. Overall was a good experience, but nothing to brag about.
We were looking for a few days away and Washington House Inn was an excellent choice! Our room had our own private entrance to a parking area and alley which lead right to Washington Avenue where all of the nearby shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. We stayed on a Sunday to Tuesday and noticed a lot of the shops nearby close early and some restaurants are not open at all on Sunday evenings or Mondays. This did not affect our rating or decision to stay here though. This could possibly be different depending on time of year as well. The bed was a bit hard for our taste but the linens, soft towels and overall stay here easily made up for it. A neat old historical building with a very unique layout and rooms very different from what we’ve ever experienced before. Definitely not your typical hotel room but certainly had all of the amenities of one! Each evening there was a nice social hour featuring snacks, cheese, crackers and wine from the nearby Cedar Creek Winery. Every morning a breakfast that you will definitely won’t leave hungry from. Pastries, fresh fruit, egg bake, yogurt, cereal. The scones, chocolate croissants, and apple turnovers were absolutely fantastic! From the time we were greeted as we walked in the door until the time we left every single employee was friendly and welcoming. Another neat touch we enjoyed is that they still use actual keys for the doors! They also have a nice DVD selection available if you would like some quiet time in which we enjoyed as well. We highly recommend Washington House Inn and will definitely return for our next time we need to get away.…
This stay at the inn had us in the Charles Gottschalk room. It has a separate entrance from the main building through the parking lot. We liked the quiet at the back. The street noise in the front can start quite early. The room has two chairs by the fireplace at which you can also watch tv. The bathroom sink is in the room, not the bathroom. Not our favorite…. The staff at the inn are always pleasant and always willing to be of help. The breakfast pastries were delicious!
We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Inn. Comfy bed and we liked the gas fireplace in our room. Very nice wine and cheese event in the evening and the breakfast in the morning was much more than the continental breakfast they described...fruit, egg dish, pastries, bagels. Inn is right downtown so shops are within walking distance. Free parking. Not cheap but worth it. Friendly front staff and dinning room attendants.
Even with some Covid restrictions, this lovely Inn is still a delightful place to stay in Cedarburg. Easy parking, fast checkin, comfy room, charming gathering room coupled with the wonderful location right on the main street. An easy walk can take you to a winery, shops & restaurants...even a movie theater playing Christmas classics while we were there. Due to the restrictions, the option was available to have breakfast delivered to our room. The other restriction was the temporary cancelling of their afternoon wine and cheese social in the gathering room. In lieu of that, we were given 2 vouchers for wine and cheese at a nearby pub--the Lime Cantina. p.s. Town is especially pretty this month with all the Christmas decorations.
This is the place to stay when visiting charming downtown Cedarburg, right in the middle of the main street so it's easy to walk to shops and restaurants. Also right off the Ozaukee Interurban Trail for biking and walking. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not partake of the breakfast, although as a nice touch during the pandemic you can also have it delivered to your room if you don't want to go to the dining room. Instead of the traditional happy hour you get vouchers for wine and a charcuterie board at a nearby pub, which was nice for relaxing on our first afternoon in town. We stayed in the guest house 3 doors down. Our room was spacious and quiet on the back side of the building. I was worried about facing a parking lot but it's a small lot and there's a cute area with a couple tables in the shade, great for reading or enjoying a treat from one of the many candy shops nearby. The decor is a little dated but the room was spotless. Plenty of hot water in the shower. You'll pay a premium to stay here on a holiday weekend but for us it was worth it. I would absolutely stay here again.…
