My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the farm. It is such a beautiful restful place. The hosts are incredibly sweet people, that make you feel like you're visiting a friend. It is wonderful to escape unnecessary noise like tv and radio for a couple days. The food is amazing home cooking. We had a sleigh ride through the woods, beautiful.:)
This is a lovely farm in northern Wisconsin with wonderful rustic accommodations, excellent “farm food”, miles of ski trails, and owners as fine as the property itself. It was cold, as you would expect in February, but the cabin was warm and supremely comfortable. Our cabin had a private sauna and it was a real luxury given the outside temperature. M hat is off to Jim and Helen who are munificent hosts and genuinely sweet people. We shall return.
Two of us, with our horses, found The Farm to be delightful. The dairy barn has been converted into huge stalls which were cool on the hot summer days we were there. The Farm provided shavings on top of high quality stall mats and mucking forks and we brought everything else, including a mounting block. We brought water in a couple of 5-gallon jugs in case our horses were slow to accept the water there, but they drank it fine. Although The Farm offers paddock board, I suggest using it only if your horse refuses to go into the barn. During the day, we rode along the mowed trails that went around ponds, beside sweet hay fields, past an old picturesque hay barn, down old dirt roads, and even over to a nearby winery. My human friend and I stayed in the Sauna Cabin, which was perfect for us, as we each got our own bedroom and bathroom. When we returned from our rides at the end of the day, we took care of the horses, showered, and relaxed until dinner was ready. Jim and Helen are the quintessential hosts: Jim showed us all the trails around the place soon after we arrived. Being the only 2 guests there at the time, we shared the kitchen table with Jim and Helen. The food was fresh, wholesome and tasty. We are eager to return, and explore the trails in the Chequamegon Nicollet National Forest: we know that we and our horses will be well taken care of.…
Just a wonderful place to get away. Been looking for a place like this and found it in the heart of where My family is from. Finnish heritage, peaceful, A wonderful hidden getaway. I will return. Kiitos.
I have gone to Palmquist farm about 4 times in the last 2 years! Its a favorite for my kids, my dog and myself. I also lead art workshops at the farm. The Palmquist family has become my family! You feel instant connection and love as soon as you walk into the farm house! My kids ventured around on the trails with our dog and the farm dog Buster and myself. We also road our bikes and were totally off the grid with electronics. We had wifi at the main house but we spent our afternoons doing puzzles, art and talking. We LOVED the food there. My older son could not stop raving about it even now! I think everyone needs to experience Palmquist!!
