Spent a weekend here in October 2020 hosting our daughters wedding. The owners,Troy and Bobbi Went out of their way to make it a perfect stay. The cabins are just off the main road but feel like they are miles away. The log cabins are cozy, well appointed, clean and spacious~just as I would want if I owned a cabin in the woods. It really is a magical place.

Awesome cabin, awesome location, awesome rates. Cabin looked brand new and even smelled new. Very clean and comfortable! We had a couple of friendly bucks in the yard, turkeys roosting in the nearby trees, and caught fish from the pier. Wishing we would have had time to take out the canoes. Looking forward to future visits. We will be back!

The Big Bear Hideaway was one of the best decisions my wife and I made for our wedding! We had our wedding in the north woods and rented the whole complex for our reception in July 2012. We had our families stay in all of the cabins and everyone loved it, especially the character of each different cabin! The workmanship in the cabins is a work of art. If you are planning to take a vacation with the family or even just going as 2, there are different cabins to choose from, and each cabin accomodates for different size families, from 2 people all the way up to 10 people. Each place is air conditioned and has wonderful charm. Wake up to deer eating and take a short walk to downtown Boulder Junction for breakfast, coffee and shopping or just relax in the sauna the Big Bear Hideaway has. For my wife and I the best thing about the Big Bear Hideaway are the owners! Their service and helpfulness went above and beyond what they needed to do to help make our day special! We have them to thank for making our wedding a beautiful and memorable weekend. They have become our friends and we will gladly be coming back to stay at the Big Bear Hideaway for future vacations. Believe me there is no need to look at a hotel elsewhere! This place alone will make your vacation memorable!

How is it possible to keep this place so clean and so beautiful? Everything is high quality and the details are not ignored. Mary was extremely nice and welcoming and I had little to worry about. Great location, walking distance to some bars, dining, etc. I would love to go back here! It would be nice if they took a credit card, but not a deal breaker.

We just had our family reunion there and can't say enough about what a wonderful place it is! I think it's safe to say there is nothing else quite like it -- architecturally stunning and comfy down home feeling at the same time. It worked out so well to have all the kitchen necessities provided and a large open living room area for everyone to be together without feeling cramped. The fire pit and outdoor cooking area made for some great times and great memories. The location is beautiful and the owners deserve a big THANK YOU for providing this fantastic place at such an affordable price. We all want to come back again!

We just back from our second trip to Big Bear Hideaway. We love it! There's plenty to keep the kids busy and yet the adults can relax. The owners are awesome! They have created a fun but calming environment for all ages. We love watching the deer and being so close to downtown. Can't wait to go again.

Big Bear Hideaway is so extraordinary that I'm writing this while still enjoying the Polar Bear Palace! This amazing lodging is a true (wood) work of art. Everywhere you turn is something magnificent in wood, a whimsical face peeking out of a tree branch, a carved black bear shooting a layup...it is really quite impossible to describe this incredible experience...you'll just have to see and enjoy it for yourself. Polar Bear Palace is spacious, super comfortable, hospitable and immaculate. The grounds are just delightful; we love sitting in the rockers on our porch and enjoy the smell of the pines. We are delighted that our dog was welcome, too. We will be back, again and again!

We needed a place to stay and was happy to see they had vacancy! As soon as we pulled in we could see it was gonna be a great place to stay. Owners were very friendly and showed us the different cabins, all beautifully crafted. Had a bonfire every night in one of their 2 fire pits. There were grills to use, and our 2 teenage girls enjoyed the bikes and volleyball court. Had a fantastic time, hated to leave!

When you're traveling, you come across a lot of cookie cutter accommodations, with the same type rooms, the same type amenities - they even start smelling the same after a while. Bland, bland, bland. And then there's Big Bear Hideaway. Wow. It's kind of hard to describe. Yes, each cabin is unique and cute and clean. But it's more than that. As another reviewer pointed out, they're almost like artwork - amazing carpentry, woodcarving, etc. There are very few straight lines or angles; it's very organic. But the main thing is - it's fun. Like being in a big hobbit house I guess. We were in the Grizzly something or other cabin and we loved it. Admittedly, the cabin didn't have the world's newest TVs and the internet was a little slow, but who cares? You're on vacation! It had a nice little kitchen and everything you'd need for your stay. Owners Troy and Bobbi were great and very accommodating. Check-in wasn't until like 3 or 4, but my daughter had to get ready to stand up for a wedding, and they rushed to clean up the cabin after the previous occupants left and I think they had it ready by about 12:30 for us. This is a great place.

On April 14, 2014 my then boyfriend proposed to me up at North Trout Lake and our decision was to have the wedding at Big Bear Hideaway!! So on June 12, 2015 we got married at North Trout Lake and had our reception at Big Bear Hideaway. There are 5 cabins that accommodated our immediate families and wedding party perfectly! With the location so close to town, the remainder of our guests were conveniently able to find lodging in town, which is within walking distance. The charming and comfortable cabins were all hand built and are very clean and cozy. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The community pavilion area has plenty of picnic tables, a gas grill, charcoal grill, and a fire pit, with plenty of wood! There is also a deer feeder on the property so you are guaranteed to see deer the entire time you are there!! The pavilion area opens up to a perfect size area that held two 10x10 tents to hold our DJ and beer tent with plenty of room for dancing the night away.
Big Bear Hideaway is under NEW ownership and Troy and Bobbi are the perfect pair for this resort. They were nothing but kind and caring, not to mention accommodating to make our special day/weekend perfect!! I can't say enough good things about Troy and Bobbi and so many Thank You's go out to both of them for everything!!!
If you are looking for the up north feel of a cabin, but want the luxuries of a house... then Big Bear Hideaway is a must stay!! Cabins range in size to accommodate any size family or couple. Great Prices and convenient location!!
