Spent a weekend here in October 2020 hosting our daughters wedding. The owners,Troy and Bobbi Went out of their way to make it a perfect stay. The cabins are just off the main road but feel like they are miles away. The log cabins are cozy, well appointed, clean and spacious~just as I would want if I owned a cabin in the woods. It really is a magical place.
We live in Eagle River and for years we have been searching for the perfect destination for our mid-week snowmobile getaways. We finally found it at the Big Bear Hideaway. The cabins are all unique in their rustic decor. They are very clean and well appointed. The entire resort is well maintained. Good TV programming which is not always easy to find. Close to town and also to dining. So far we have only stayed in the Honey Bear and it is very comfortable for two people.
We just visited Big Bear Hideaway with a big group of close friends in two of the lodges. We've been straight up camping for several years, and now finally (in my opinion) have graduated to the lodge experience. We loved to cook and grill and it had everything we needed. It has a very unique charm, and the drive and location was awesome in the fall. Amazing how many bear carvings, and related art, can be in a single home. I'm definitely suggesting Big Bear Hideaway to friends and family for future trips.
When you're traveling, you come across a lot of cookie cutter accommodations, with the same type rooms, the same type amenities - they even start smelling the same after a while. Bland, bland, bland. And then there's Big Bear Hideaway. Wow. It's kind of hard to describe. Yes, each cabin is unique and cute and clean. But it's more than that. As another reviewer pointed out, they're almost like artwork - amazing carpentry, woodcarving, etc. There are very few straight lines or angles; it's very organic. But the main thing is - it's fun. Like being in a big hobbit house I guess. We were in the Grizzly something or other cabin and we loved it. Admittedly, the cabin didn't have the world's newest TVs and the internet was a little slow, but who cares? You're on vacation! It had a nice little kitchen and everything you'd need for your stay. Owners Troy and Bobbi were great and very accommodating. Check-in wasn't until like 3 or 4, but my daughter had to get ready to stand up for a wedding, and they rushed to clean up the cabin after the previous occupants left and I think they had it ready by about 12:30 for us. This is a great place.…
What a wonderful place! We stayed in Panda Pad & were able to use the kitchen downstairs. Everywhere we looked there was another carving...or painting...or figure we hadn’t seen before. So much creativity & craftsmanship! Troy & Bobbi were gracious and accommodating hosts, and Cody (black lab) offered much love! A totally great experience.
We stayed at the Big Bear Hideaway this weekend enjoying the fall colors. This place is Fabulaous. The cabins are a worksof art. Clean, cozy and fresh. The outdoor facilities have tables and a campfire. All amenities in the cabin. This is the place of choice in the Boulder Junction area. Our host and owners, Bobbi and Troy are very welcoming hosts.
A great place for groups or families, very large cabins--really houses that have an overload of rustic Northwoods detail. Kitchens, gathering spaces indoors and out, lots of dining space all make this ideal for a weeklong vacations. A short walk to Boulder Junction also makes this an ideal location. A great value when compared to area inns and hotels.
We stayed in the Panda pad it was excellent!!!! The owners are so friendly. Big Bear Hideaway is in a great location and close to everything. We will stay again there is so much to do in the Boulder Junction area.
We stayed in the Grizzly cabin for 3 nights and wished our stay could've been longer. This is truly a northwoods gem!! We found plenty to do in the surrounding areas even though we aren't bikers or fishers. We really enjoyed having smores by the fire each night and chit chatting with our fellow guests. We saw deer each morning walking through the grounds and our kids really got a kick out of it. The cabins are all so unique so we are hoping to check out another one next summer.
Truly a gem! We stayed in The Grizzly--it like all the other cabins are composed of hand-crafted woodwork. Beautiful! Hard to leave the building. Situated right on the bike trail and 1/4 mile walk to town. Returning this Fall again to stay at The Grizzly. Just had to delay our trip a few weeks due to business/work. Hated to do that as the Northwood Art Festival and Boulder Junction festival is going on that wkend, but maybe you could go and see the colors --The Grizzly is open oct 7 and 8!
