MARE Blue is an exquisite brand new 4* hotel, offering relaxation and Cretan hospitality with style! The hotel consists of luxurious, well equipped double rooms and offers its guests relaxation in comfort.
Having waited more than 2 years to travel again we looked forward to are next travel experience with excitement and having read the reviews booked this 4* hotel.
The rooms are modern in appearance with all the amenities you need and expect from a 4* Hotel, with a good powerful hot shower. I was a little surprise that the room safe was an extra charge and that beach towels required a deposit.
Although the mattress was comfortable, the pillows were not and the sheets are not fitted an soon became uncomfortable by riding up with any slight movement.
The meals were good apart from the fact that every meal was cold , including the soup and even after complaining and have the soup reheated it still came back cold. This continued for the remaining 2 weeks of are stay.
We were not the only guests to complain every day about the cold food. Sadly we ended eating out more than we expected. The food is cooked and then transported from their sister hotel, hence the cold food, having seen the Daily food transport come and go every meal time.
The restaurant and bar area are open air and as soon as it rained both became unusable and with no plan B, Guests had to miss meals and wait for the rain to stop.
They have a sister Hotel 100m down the road and I asked if we might use their restaurant but no one seem to know what to do.
The pool looks nice and you would expect one at a 4 * Hotel but no one uses it, and it was not cleaned during the two weeks of our stay, we know this as the sand had not been removed from the bottom. It is positioned right in front of where people eat and the area could be better used for more space for the restaurant and extra overhead cover from the sun/rain.
The bar is large enough for guests but the drinks are all locally produced, there are branded top shelf drinks but even on all inclusive status you pay extra for these and they even charge for bottled water.
I found the immediate staff to be helpful and friendly and a credit to the Hotel .
On paper this should be a great Hotel in a good location across from the beach but sadly let down by poor kitchen and restaurant layout and working practice's.
Unfortunately we will not be returning to this hotel under its current situation and hope the management except that these issues need addressing.
Rarely do we complain about minor issues but this was a 2 week break and even complaining on site , did not result in any changes been implemented by management or even offering an apology.
We came on 15th April with the expectations of the food being amazing. It was far from it. It was repetitive, Luke warm, bland, unknown meat and not a lot of it. Snacks consist of dry ham and cheese sandwiches approx 20 triangles and some stale loaf cake slices.
The all inclusive times changed everyday no soft drinks before half 10 and pay after 11pm.
There’s only 1 seating area which is right next to the pool and if it rains expect to get wet as there’s minimal cover.
There’s no loungers at the pool as it’s in the seating area for food and drinks.
There’s not enough seating for the amount of guests and we aren’t even in peak season, we were turned away a couple of times at tea time due to no seats available and told to wait in reception or go out.
The beach is over the road with free loungers and plenty of them which is pretty much the only saving grace.
Everyone received free slippers bar us.
The majority of the staff are quite rude and unhelpful.
The rooms are cleaned daily as expected but to a minimal standard not sure our floors were cleaned in the week we stayed.
The bathroom is tiny and the whole “bathroom” floods as soon as the shower goes on and takes 2 days to dry.
Fresh towels daily.
The toilet roll holder was hanging off, mould on the ceiling, holes in the wall.
The sister hotel mare boutique is down the street and we aren’t allowed to use their facilities yet all their guests come to our hotel.
No one seems to have a straight answer for anything even as simple as why is no one on the bar on a morning when there’s people waiting for drinks.
We spent £550 each to be here and have spent over €500 eating out everyday to try and get a decent meal.
For the price we paid and the experience we’ve had I wouldn’t rate it and I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or family.
The reviews were amazing for this hotel hence why we booked and I can guarantee they are all fake or at least the “amazing” ones anyway.
We always aim to deliver a great experience. We are gutted when we miss the mark! Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We will use the feedback to make us better and to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”

I had a relaxing stay at this hotel which overall I enjoyed. I’m disabled and use a stick, I found staff helpful and considerate especially Dennis the barman.
Negatives: Minor ones, Meals could be hotter, rooms could be cleaned better (Sand covered our floor for duration of trip). Usual all inclusive fare and drinks but English breakfast could be improved with quality baked beans and decent bacon and sausages.
Major negatives: Bathroom floods after shower due to bad design. This is extremely dangerous as it’s very slippery with no rails or safety features. I asked for a mop but the cleaner just mopped up, put some towels on the floor and left. Restaurant area is small and outdoors with insufficient cover it also acts as bar and poolside lounge. We got splashed a few times whilst eating. Again bad design. On our last day we were told there is a €20 for the sun loungers closest to the sea as it was high season. This is unreasonable as it’s not possible to lounge by the pool.
Positives, most staff are friendly and helpful. Quite good service considering Staff seem to work long hours, looked like 12 hour days from my vantage spot overlooking the restaurant/pool. Manager was on site a lot while we were there. He was friendly, helpful and approachable. Bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. We had a late night flight but was allowed to keep our room until 2pm and stay on site and have meals and drinks until our transfer arrived at 8.30pm all free of charge.
Unfortunately because of the major negatives I can’t give a 4 star rating but once these improvements are worked on this hotel will definitely be a 4 star with good potential.
We want to thank you for your feedback, we will work hard on it. We are always listening!

If you’re looking for something simple and want to be autonomous on your holiday, then this is the place for you. Located on the beach in a lovely, fairly quiet area with restaurants and bars. Most of the staff are nice, especially those in the restaurant and bar. However, this is definitely a 3-star hotel. Although the rooms look nice and relatively work well (again, if you just want a place to sleep), be prepared for the shower to leak across the bathroom, the lights to not work, the TV to be static and no bottled water (even if you’re all-inclusive). We were told to buy some from the shop if needed. The food is very basic, perhaps not for picky eaters. Be prepared to eat on your balcony during busy periods, as there isn’t enough seating for all guests (this isn’t often though, just a heads up in case). They offer a late check-in service for an additional fee, but don’t hold your breath. We were told on arrival to ask the day before, the day before to ask the following morning, only to be told that it was “impossible” and had to check out within the hour. This would be fine if they had a luggage room (your luggage is left in the reception which isn’t always manned) and access to a public shower that doesn’t have a door. Please lock your door before you go to sleep as the cleaning staff will enter without knocking in the early morning. All in all, if you’re not too fussed and want a simple stay, this will do.…

Lovely location but has a few issues. Firstly, the hotel itself is decent, the beach is just the other side of a road. The beach itself is ok,could do with being cleaned regularly. The sunbeds are free to guests but also to other hotels guests that they have a deal with. This ment on a few days we couldnt get sunbeds and paid to use a local bars. So get up early to get a bed. The room itself was good, maid service everyday and she kept the room spotless. However we did have a few issues with broken plug sockets, shower had mold on the ceiling and had a hole in the tile behind the fitting. The safe also did not work. Now onto the food, this is brought in from another hotel/kitchen. The food was ok but it was not Four star and was the same each evening. The worst thing about the eating area is that its next to the hotel pool and bar. So you will need to wait for a table if your not their early. The staff are good, however the reception staff we came across had one phrase,'come back tomorrow'. After a week of this i never got any queation answered. I will return to the village but sadly i will look elsewere to stay...…

Superb hotel, excellent location by the sea, super clean and good food. The breakfast hour is amazing when the sun rises and we enjoyed nice Greek coffee by the pool. The staff is very polite and helpful. I definitely recommend it.

This is an honest review after reading other reviews . Just came back after 1 week away . Hotel and rooms are very clean , beds are really comfy and shower works great . Hotel staff in all areas reception , bar , food and cleaners are highly motivated. Rooms cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels . 40 euro deposit for fresh and clean beach towels when ever needed . Food is a good selection only had 1 bad afternoon meal . Drinks are OK and a good selection . MARCELEOS is a great bartender and a really nice young man . Beach is great with stunning views . If your looking for a quiet amd chilled holiday you will definitely achieve that here . Town center not to far away and 10 minute walk to local amenities. Hotel could probs do with some light entertainment on a evening as if your looking for this you need to look else where . All in all a very good hotel for couples looking for relaxation. …

Me and my mom stayed for 3 days at mare blue suites. Very good experience, rooms were comfy, as good as new and staff was very polite. Kudos to Mrs Katerina for being so sweet and caring. Receptionist was a bit rude but this was a one off and the next time i talked to her she was helpful.

The hotel was fantastic, featuring, clean rooms, excellent amenities, and an unbeatable location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, especially Nikos at the front desk, Who was always a pleasure to interact with. He provided helpful directions and even assisted us with our luggage when we were un a hurry. We truly appreciated his assistance!

The hotel was lovely just a few things wrong firstly I had no hot water for 4 days to say it is a newish build I did say to the staff they just said it was the area they did not do anything about it I was there for 7 nights.Secondly they only had 10 tables to eat at to say they were 49 rooms so you had to wait to eat. Food ok very repetitive. Also the drinks if you wanted rose or branded drinks you had to pay for which I think is very disappointing

Just heading home after a 7 day stay. I was very unsure after reading some reviews on here after I booked this hotel BUT as much as a lot of points are true I found it to be just fine over all it all depends on what you want. I don’t think I would book here again though in all honesty. The rooms are nice but the beds are terrible I have had awful back ache every single morning but that was the only criticism regarding the room itself. We had a side sea view room. The bar/dining/pool area is all in one so pretty much makes the pool unusable and this was my main disappointment with this hotel. The beach is on your doorstep but I did find myself wishing for a day by a pool. The dining area is very exposed so I get the comments about when raining it’s also not ideal in 35 degrees like it has been this week you feel like you are actually baking whilst sat trying to eat in direct sunlight and it is quite small and does get quite busy so you do have to time it right. We only ate breakfast and lunch each day and chose to eat out each night as the food can be repetitive but was all very nice. The drinks aren’t great in all honesty so we only had a few but the coffee is lovely. The staff are all very hardworking and friendly especially the ladies at meal times and the bar man. The hotel is clean and well kept. The marble stairs are a little daunting especially when wet. The views around this area are beautiful. The beach is lovely and quiet until around 10am then it does get quite busy but we never had trouble getting a sunbed. It’s 30 euros for the ones with curtains and you get a free cocktail but we found these didn’t really shield you from the sun anymore than the free ones they just look nicer. Because it was so hot during our stay we found we didn’t go and explore as much as we would have liked too but it was still a lovely relaxing holiday…
