Stout’s Island Lodge sits proudly in the center of Red Cedar Lake – an 1800-acre lake in northeastern Barron County, Wisconsin. There are two island connected by a 100 ft. walking bridge (given to Frank Stout by Andrew Carneige). The two islands have a combined acreage of 18 acres. All lodging is located on the western of the two islands; the East Island has walking trails as well as a small picnic cabin on the northern tip. Red Cedar Lake is known for its water quality, its fishery and for its relative quietude.

Attempted to attend an annual outing held at Stout's Island... I have heard many great things about the place but have not personally experienced it. I've tried booking a reservation several times never with any luck (the website kept staying it was booked and to call them)...

Travis, I apologize. We did close at the end of Oct (open seasonally from May to Oct) but I am monitoring the email and the phone; thinking some wires are crossed somewhere. My direct email is generalmanager@stoutsislandlodge.com or you can call the office number and I assure you, I will get back to you. All the best and I hope you are able to make it soon! David

3 of us chose this lodge and island for a 60-year mimi-reunion after working together at Flathead Lake Lodge in Montana. We could not have been happier with our selection. We stayed in a section of the historic main lodge and reveled in its rusticity. We enjoyed the excellently

Beautiful resort. A step back in time- no televisions, limited WIFI, no computers. Makes you stop and relax, just enjoy the gorgeous island setting and facilities. Staff are all super friendly. Restaurant was excellent both evenings we ate there. Continental breakfast was great.

Thank you for taking the time to review the lodge and give us your honest perspective. I'm thrilled you enjoyed your visit and were able to relax. You are exactly right about the ferry runs...not sure what exactly happened in your case, but protocol is to have ferries (2 if we are on our A game--1 for luggage and 1 for passengers) run continually to and from shore until everyone is off the island. I apologize if this did not happen, or maybe there were just long delays if we had luggage from a wedding, or wedding supplies we were taking to shore as well. When you come back, please talk with me personally about this issue, if you would like, and I'll ensure that things go much smoother your next visit. Thank you again, David

This was our second visit in one season. The peace and tranquility of the setting doesn't disappoint. The leaves were turning and the views were lovely. Although it was chilly, we enjoyed our morning coffee on our patio and our evening wine by the fire. It's a great place to

Stouts Island - Island of Happy Days was built for enjoyment in 1903. And this gentle lady has aged beautifully. We stayed two nights and the resort was rather quiet- which made us feel like what the Stout family originally fell in love with! We had breakfast-delicious! And

Absolutely! We have plenty of families that enjoy the Island very much! I would only note that the Shore Lodge building is adults only and that small children are not allowed in the dining room after 7 PM.

Always a tough question to answer! If it is just the two of you, Shore Lodge is an excellent choice for couples as it is adults-only and very closely overlooks the water. Any of the rooms in that cabin would be excellent choices--Shore Lodge 1, 2, 3, and Shore Lodge 5 rooms are probably most common for shorter stays since Shore Lodge 6 has a full kitchen. Other great choices would be Allison 2, Harry 2, Katherine 3, or any of the eight Douglas/Wilson rooms (these two cabins are pretty much the same). I hope this helps! -Emily

Hi Daniel, The first available days that would have a day from the weekend would be Wednesday August 6th through Friday August 8th. The only two rooms available would be Douglas 2 and 4 (each having a king and twin bed). If this works for you just let us know by calling 715-354-3646 and we can set up the reservation! Thank you, Alyza

Hi rnjhen, While we probably don't have a room that fits 7, we have few groups of rooms that would work great. Clara's cabin or Harry's cabin would be perfect. Allison's cabin may also work. We also have lots of activities for people of all ages--bag toss, ladder golf, swimming, bonfires, tennis, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and more. Visit our website for a full list. I hope this helps!
