Our last trip was good, but this one was fantastic! We stayed in the upper level of the main lodge, and our friends were just across the hall. There was a screen porch at the end of the hall where we could all sit and play cards or dice. The weather was perfect. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The... More

He had a great time on Stout's Island. Old, but well kept buildings. Let's say its very rustic. They have lawn and indoor games to play. Trails to walk by day and fire pits to sit around after dark. There's a lot history to this place. Many years ago it was a private vacation residence. There is one of Wisconsin's... More

Stout's is just that, built on an Island. Everything on the island was built with materials brought to the island in the winter on the ice. It is everything that a lodge should be. The rooms are done in a rustic motif that makes you feel like you stepped by into the 1940s or so. My family took up 3... More

We had shore lodge 4, which is probably the biggest and best on the island, plus bunk room #4, and a friend stayed in room #5 which adjoins them. We do this trip with 7-8 families every other year. The island is a very laid-back, relaxing atmosphere. You need leave your stress on the mainland, and if you follow a... More

You park on the 'mainland'and are picked up by an hourly pontoon boat. The island has beautiful gardens and grounds with wonderful water views in all directions. Lodge and other buildings historic and charming. Free use of canoes, kayaks etc. Clay tennis court and croquet too. Variety of rooms and accommodations. Restaurant food good but it took a while to... A little slice oh heaven there. Great place to unplug and unwind. Attended a family wedding and it was amazing. Staff is fantastic, friendly, and accommodating. Good was yummy. Lodging was great. Loved the outdoor games, kayaking, hiking trails. Mosquitos are relentless as you would expect. Bring your bug spray! Stars are amazing at night. Great group, family, or couple... More

The lodge and cabins all are beautiful. The carved redwood is amazing. Pick any spot on the island and the view will be phenomenal. You can always see the water and the landscaping is lovely. Staff was very attentive. We have already booked our next visit.

We visited the lodge for dinner as part of our annual vacation to the area. Forty years and this was the first venture to the island resort. Our mistake was waiting this long. Be prepared for a less than 10 minute boat ride to the island. Plenty of history and remarkable Adirondack style original architecture. Dining areas are a real... More

We LOVED Stout's Island Lodge! We first learned of it through a show on Wisconsin PBS. Only criticism is the food in the restaurant was average - although I heard people saying the trout was very good. Beautiful setting - great history - attentive staff - exceedingly well-kept - a lot to do. We want to go back right now!... More

A 4 star hotel experience yet set in rustic (looking) cabins that look like they grew up with the trees on the island. The staff was amazing- friendly, cheerful, prompt. Common area games, docks and sitting areas makes for a convivial feel - inviting but not obligatory. The drive from Minneapolis is gorgeous on the back roads. It is far... More
