A luxury boutique hotel located on the banks of the Rock River, in historic downtown Beloit, the Ironworks Hotel is inspired by America's industrial heritage. The hotel is home to one of the area's best restaurants, Merrill & Houston's Steak Joint. The Ironworks Hotel is a place for people to work hard, play hard and come together.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I had been researching where to stay in Beloit for a couples evening. The Ironworks Hotel impressed me with its location to downtown Beloit, the ammenities offered, the layout and details of the rooms, and the atmosphere. Everything was at least as nice once on site. The attention to detail is noticable everywhere. The guest service was attentive and friendly. We ate at Merrill & Houston’s, which is on the first floor, making it very nice to just take the elevator down to dinner. The room was one of the best I've ever stayed in. The websire photos give you a good idea of how they are, but they're better in person. I stayed in the middle tier "Heritage" room, which included two large screen tv's, fireplace, soaking tub, walk-in shower, sofa, mini bar, bath robes, etc. It was really an exceptional space. Dinner at Merrill & Houston’s was excellent. The steaks were perfectly execute. The entire experience was very positive and I will definitely return and recommend.

We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was. The hotel is located within walking distance of the cute downtown area with a few restaurants and bars. I was impressed by the hotel staff they were welcoming and very helpful. The rooms are an average size, the TV was very large for a hotel room. When entering the lobby they have water bowls and signs welcoming dog guests. The only minor negative was the elevator is slow.

Hotel is decorated and outfitted with a Western flair. Leather couch in the room with see through fireplace. Soaking tub and plenty of desk space. They have an in-house restaurant, check the menu as the prices are not inexpensive. Parking can be a problem on weekends or "diner" time as it appears locals like to dine there which is great for the property, not so great for customers staying in the hotel. The room was comfortable however the noise level from the road and above us was disturbing. Windows must be thin. We were on the 3rd floor and listened to "heavy" feet throughout the night, middle of the night and early morning. The area is intriguing and there are many bars, restaurants, and businesses within walking distance.

Overall, the stay was fine. The hotel I think is step up for the local area, which is great for out of town visitors. Beloit itself has come along way and the downtown has a number of really cool and nice restaurants affiliated with the hotel group. Our stay was satisfactory. The rates was a little bit higher than I would’ve expected, but that’s OK. As far as things that could be better, There were large functions in the party room, which was great to see. People having lots of fun, which is awesome. But the music and noise was really really loud especially if your room, like ours, was situated over the ballroom. There is inadequate parking for all of the hotel guests. So you have to park on the street if you arrive to the hotel later in the evening. There is no restaurant on the premises that serves breakfast. Really surprising… I can only guess (?) that it’s because they own a diner close by. And their continental breakfast is skimpy to say the least, probably only 10% of what a Hampton Inn has. The front desk staff were nice enough, which is great. The restaurant, which is a steak place, is well overpriced, especially for the locale as well as the quality of the food. But the service was good. All in all, I guess if I were to visit Beloit again, I could stay there, but I guess I would try one of their affiliated properties elsewhere.

If you’re looking to stay in walkable distance to downtown and Beloit College Ironworks is very convenient. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable. The hotel was quiet. The free breakfast is unexciting. There are better local coffee and pastry options nearby (walking distance) or opt for a full breakfast at Jessi’s (drivable in 3-5 minutes). The Ironworks strength is its location, but for me it’s not worth paying 2x what roadside hotels are available near 94, which are a 8-10 minute drive away.

This was our second trip to the Ironworks. We love the decor, location, and staff. Our only complaints are the room cleanings could be stepped up. Our drinking glasses in the room were filthy this time. Our first trip the ceiling by the balcony was pretty dirty and the balcony railing was full of cobwebs. Also, the restaurant is not open for breakfast. They have a small breakfast bar in the lobby with some muffins and bagels but on the weekends, we like the option to eat a full breakfast before getting on the road.

Usually will frequent chain hotels due to lower cost and reward programs. With how much I travel for work it makes sense. So typically when my family travels we will redeem those points for free nights at the chains, which is fine. But this was a first for us, staying in a more "boutique" style, unique property. I was impressed with the staff, the facilities and the room. Clean, nicely decorated rooms, comfortable beds. Beautiful bathroom with rain showerhead, massive TV and stocked fridge/snack selection in room that were very reasonably priced compared to what one might expect.
If my travels take me back to Beloit I will definitely look into staying at this hotel again. The downtown location was perfect, walking distance to shops and restaurants, the farmers market and the river. Ironworks is a unique and impressive operation.

I have stayed here several times over the years and this is easily one of the best hotels in Southern Wisconsin. I was a bit nervous traveling following the COVID scare of April and May but this hotel blew me away with their efforts to make sure I felt safe and secure during my stay. Everywhere I went they had staff cleaning and disinfecting. They even put notes on high touch areas in the guestroom to indicate that they had been disinfected - wow!
If you are coming for a special occasion, make sure and ask them about their packages. According to the clerks, they have promotions which include chocolate covered strawberries, wine and/or flowers.
If this hotel is sold out, consider the Hotel Goodwin across the street - it's owned by the same company.

Big props to the developers and management team overseeing Ironworks Hotel and all of the Geronimo Hospitality clubs, hotels, and restaurants! Very impressed with the cleanliness, attention to detail, and overall warm ambiance exuded by not only the properties themselves but most importantly by the team members onsite that make them what they are. Kudos!

We came to town for a wedding and after a little research decided on the Ironworks Hotel. It was perfect for our little family of 3. We had a deluxe king suite and it was very spacious. My husband kept commenting how it was great for our little 10 month old to crawl around and we felt like we had plenty of space to move around. The bathtub was great so we could bathe our son and the shower was great for us as well. The layout is unique and we had a great time.
