I drive by this place for many years and finally stayed a night. Staff was courteous and very helpful. This place is dated, but WELL maintained. Temps in the pool were proper and pH levels seemed to be balanced. Many, many towels and you'll see 2nd and 3rd shifts folding them throughout the evening. Breakfast was average, but as described on the website. A great view and humbly a peaceful place. My only issue to the cable TV line up and labelling. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place especially for those who have young children. Thank you!

We came up to go to the Cave on The Mounds. The hotel was very close, 11 minute drive. That was nice. The grounds of the hotel are very clean. Our room had a sticky spot on the floor. Other than that it was very clean. The mattress was not comfortable. The blinds were definitely not room darling. Sun was shining in my eyes at 5:30. Not the time I had planned to get up. The breakfast was short of spectacular. It consisted of cereal, oatmeal (nothing to put in it except sugar), sausage links, waffle, mini donuts and toast. Eggs would have been welcoming or even some fruit. Ending on a positive the staff was friendly.

This hotel was nice and clean and staff were all super friendly. The water park was just the right size and the slides are fun for kids and adults too! The views are amazing around the hotel and there is even a bar/restaurant there too. The cheese curds were great! We would love to visit this hotel again in the future!

My family and I (three kids, 2 adults) always drive up to Northern Wisconsin to see family every winter. We cut the trip in half, and decided to stay overnight at the Deer Valley Lodge to have something fun for the kids after a long day of driving. When we got arrived, we immediately saw how outdated the hotel was and staff was not helpful. We stayed in a suite with bunk beds and a queen, and the room was spacious, but dark and I don’t remember it having windows. We got water park passes, but were disappointed with the run-down pool that was there. Plaster was falling apart everywhere, and there was a yellow slide that looked like it was about to fall over. Water felt a little weird and plaster was scraping my feet when walking in pool. My family also thought we could get dinner at bar and were looking forward to having some food- we were met with vending machine food that was served by a staff member and basic things that you could get at a gas station. Kids did not like it due to under whelming pool and lack of cleanliness. It worked for one night, but we will not be coming back.

A kid puked in the pool and a manager removed puke with just a net. Next she she dumped a gallon of of chlorine in the pool. She (manager) attempted to keep kids out of pool and screamed at kids on the slides for no reason. Lobby area was extremely loud. Called front desk to complain about an adult f bombing outside our room was told 11 pm is quiet time. What a joke! Water park is overrated and not clean! Book a different hotel!

We stayed here like seven years ago and loved it. Unfortunately, nothing has been updated since then. The beds must be original to the hotel as they are the most uncomfortable beds we have slept on. The coffee pop in our room was broken, there is a small fridge but not even a microwave in the room. The staff are less then friendly and even had one of them sigh when we asked to order a pizza. It’s a bummer as this was our go to when coming to see family. If they would update it i think more people would stay but we can stay at a new hotel for almost the same price so we won’t be back.

My husband and I just checked out from here. We stayed for a night on a mini vacation to see Mt. Horeb and a pickup in Madison. We will stay here again.

Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Pine Suite which had a separate bedroom with a balcony, and a whirlpool tub in the living room! Sadly, we didn’t get a chance to use it!!!

The beds were comfy and the room was very clean. It’s 100% a 90s “north woods” vibe, which I love! If you’re looking for luxury and modern touches, this place isn’t for you lol! But if you’re a sucker for 90s rustic, you’ve found a winner!

We can’t comment on breakfast or the pool, as we didn’t use either. But overall a wonderful stay!!!

The place is pretty run down. The continental breakfast was well below average. The place and its staff were not following any reasonable COVID protocols. Staff didn't even wear masks.

Beds were uncomfortable and blankets were old and kind of gross.

The waterpark (when it wasn't too crowded to enter) was nice.

I just loved this place. First time I had ever been there and the staff helped me carry my bags and were just awesome. The room was awesome and it was very clean. I have stayed at many places but have never been treated as nice as here at Deer Valley Lodge. I will be staying there again when back in Barneveld.

My experience at Deer Valley Lodge in August of 2011 was pretty bad. The room said “Whirlpool Suite” and I guess if I would have viewed the pictures the way we entered the room I would not have reserved it and paid extra for it. The 2 double beds are next to each other and the pool is 10 inches from one of the beds. Privacy was out of the question with kids in the room.
The pool area was nothing to brag about but may be good for small children. We sat at the only table that had the least amount of food drippings on it. The next day we went to the same table and it still had the same dried up ketchup and food drippings on it. The bathroom in the pool area also had feces around the sides and bottom of the toilet in the men’s room and was there all 3 days. I did see a maid finally clean in there as we were checking out on Sunday.
The first night I had some magnetic bumper stickers stolen off my vehicle. I asked the girl at the desk for the manager or owner and they stated they were off for the weekend and could not be reached. I had to call the Sherriff myself because she didn’t “want to get involved”. Come to find out they only have one entrance camera and nothing to see into the parking lot.
Last but not least, I went to use the one working computer to check my email through a web email program. Someone downloaded a virus on the computer which records your typing and memorizes your password. The program sent a virus out to all my email accounts. I had my email carrier and email address for 15 years and never had this happen. Needless to say I paid a premium price for a poor experience. I paid less at the Hyatt in Chicago. Beware and don’t expect much.
