All the previous reviews are accurate - most of the park is closed at any given time. The times posted for when things open are not accurate. One day the water was cold everywhere - the next it was much warmer. The check-in experience was awful with a very rude person checking us in. Not only did she refuse to change something, she also set up the dining credit wrong so we were unable to use it the next day without returning to the front desk (which is a hassle from the water park with kids). The next day, someone else was able to fix the problems, but the original person's bad attitude and unwillingness to help put a real damper on the first day. We will not return - the other parks are so much better and more fully open.

If your family likes the Great Wolf Lodge, I recommend you stick to locations besides the Wisconsin Dells. This is our third GWL stay across the country and easily the worst. Many of the water attractions are closed (or rotating, though it's annoying to keep checking time updates every day), the park is kind of dingy, and the staff seems disinterested. You wait for tubes and then you wait in lines and then you wait for other attractions to open. My kids are 6 and 4 so they still had fun, but we did the water park and nothing else at the resort. I would have canceled ahead of time, but I couldn't get a hold of anyone at the front desk to get details on closure or to cancel. We will not be going back.

We were INCREDIBLY disappointed to find that the majority of water attractions were either not opened or on a rotation schedule that wasn't followed. Since none of this was disclosed prior to check in, Kawika Smith, Director of Guest Services, agreed to provide a voucher for a future stay. Management did not follow through with this. When contacted, Mr. Smith was curt, unapologetic, and ultimately unwilling to provide the voucher. Be aware before booking that Great Wolf is grossly understaffed, water park in less than half operational, and management is defensive.

The attractions at the water park were 75% closed at any given time (this is not an exaggeration, we have photos of the daily schedule). When two rides are open simultaneously, they did not have enough tubes and told me I should go find one somewhere else?? People come for the water park, and the other activities and accommodations do not justify the cost. Whether things will be staffed enough to be open is not disclosed at the time of booking, only a few days prior to check-in when they tell you they appreciate your patience and understanding that they’re short staffed. Charging the same amount for a subpar experience to me is not worth it. I asked for reimbursement and they suggested that we try “dry“ activities instead. All the loyal customers for 10 years, we have no plans to return.

I’m heartbroken writing this review. GWL has been a very special place for my family for the past 10 years. We’ve gone multiple times a year and always enjoyed ourselves, but the last few times we’ve come things have really gone downhill. This last visit was a breaking point. Our hotel room smelled like dirty feet. We didn’t have a coffee table making it difficult to eat in our room. Shower facilities in the water park were dirty and needing repair. Anything that was broken throughout the resort was simply roped off with no hint it of ever being fixed. The biggest issue was the fact that we couldn’t go on any of the water slides. As mentioned in many other reviews, there are only one or two slides open at a time, making choices very limited, lines very long, and other areas very crowded. When this was going on a year ago, I was much more understanding because businesses everywhere were struggling to find adequate staff. Now, other places we go to seemed to have figured it out, but GWL is either still struggling or has figured out they’re saving a lot of money and not bothering to do anything about it. Overall, there is a feeling that they’ve given up. They used to have so many unique touches (free fudge, reduced rates when you booked your next stay, resort credits, multiple places to eat, etc) that distinguished it from the other water park hotels. It was friendlier, more affordable, accommodating. Now it’s just sad. Not only are they offering less, but they’ve increased their prices, so there’s really no reason to come anymore. If I’m paying the same rate as Kalahari, which has so much more to do, multiple restaurants, and actually takes care of their hotel, guess where I’m going?? Long story short, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Not worth the cost by a long shot.

We went to the dells to get together with family. Got the Wolf Pack Loft Condo, as we had 3 families and there were 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Checking in took a bit. But we did come on a Friday at 4. That was to be expected. The room was okay. It worked for us but, the dishwasher had mold in the bottom, the one light in the king size bedroom did not work and the shower head in the upstairs shower did not stay up. So you had to hold on to it in order to get water. The waterpark only had a few things open at a time. I know they are short staffed, but the majority of the people there have small children. So that made it a bit less enjoyable. But at least they finally opened the wave pool Saturday from 1-8. Not sure we will be going back for the price that it was. Oh the restaurant was not open all the time either! Good thing there are lots of places to eat in the Wisconsin Dells.

We arrived on Friday of Minnesota's fall break which means it is going to be busy. Kids were excited to check in and get to the waterpark. When we got to the waterpark the only slides that were open were the toddler slides. Everything else was closed do to a staffing issue. Throughout the weekend the attractions were on a 2 hour rotating schedule. I would not recommend going here until they decide to hire some more staff to fully open the waterpark.

Fabulous family experience. There is so much to do for the kids and family here. The staff was all very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and cute. The wolf touches and subtle accents were cute and made the experience a little more special and unique. The bunk bed cabin rooms are so much fun for children and makes it a core memory for sure. The water park was great!! There are a lot of rides and things to do. Highly recommend GWL!

Just driving home from our 2 night stay (Thurs- Sat). Received a notification to download the app, which I did. Unfortunately mobile check in was unavailable. There was quite a long line at check in, but the front desk was fully staffed accommodate. Our room was clean. There was a retractable clothesline in the shower, which made it easy to hang swimsuits to dry. Your wristband is now your room key which is convenient, and you can set things to charge to your room so you don't have to carry a credit card. You will receive texts from Willow, your mobile assistant. Between the texts and the app, this allowed us to be informed om any closures or updates during our stay. Which brings me to the only negative part of my review... the Waterpark. I have stayed here previously, years ago and remember enjoying it. This current stay was a couples trip and now I would highly recommend Great Wolf for families with small children. The convenient thing is that their indoor Waterpark is all in one central location (unlike some other resorts with several scattered around the property). A few of the watersides were out of commission (one was boarded up and turned into extra seating area). The resort was also short staffed, resulting in only one or two slides being open at a time. The resort was very good at informing guests about what was open (via text and whiteboards in the park). But, shuffling all your guests to only one or two slides at a time only creates longer lines. In the entirety of our stay, we were able to ride 3 slides. Also in the entirety of our stay, the 21 and up hot tub was only open for 2 hours (per the schedules and texts it shouldve been open for 4, but was closed early)... which, coming on this trip with just 2 adults, was the thing we were most looking forward to. The Waterpark also closed earlier than advertised on the website (Friday night). Coming to the Dells in the off season, we were banking on the Waterpark to keep us entertained, as not much else is open off the resort. I will say, all the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. It's just disappointing to be notified of the short staffing by the time it's too late to cancel or change your reservation and to have to pay full price when not being able to use the amenities as advertised.

Just getting back from our trip across state lines to escape. It’s been a few years since our last trip here but we were glad to be back! Overall, a great trip and we’d continue to recommend GWL esp for specific needs: cozier feel, not as crazy w so many people, and great for families esp those w smaller kids. Pros: ✔️Water park is pretty clean and friendly. Chanel and Francisco are the two best lifeguards who will warmly greet you each time and make your stay that much better. ✔️Only hotel guests have access to the water park so it won’t get as crazy as some of the other surrounding ones w day passes. ✔️Quite a few different slides and attractions for kids of all ages. ✔️The arcade, as much as they can be mini gambling centers for kids, was pretty nice. Clean, and well maintained, these games all work too. You don’t feel grimey after visiting here. Also, their staff was super friendly. She took the time to find all the things my son wanted to claim w his tickets. Beyond patient but also pointed out options he didn’t consider. ✔️The kid activities were a bit young for my two, but they did enjoy the coloring and monster bash dance party. Their staff were pumped and really helped to get the kids involved. ✔️Staff overall were welcoming and helpful! Cons: ✔️One lifeguard was a bit over zealous and liked his whistle quite a bit. Obnoxious and annoying, but the rest were clearly well trained and good at their job. ✔️The attractions, as fun as they are, are not all open due to low staffing. They sent an email just before our stay and if you scroll all the way to the bottom, it states that there *may* be temporary closures but that if it does happen, they don’t anticipate it affecting the experience. Attractions were absolutely only open on a rotating basis, each day w times, and it absolutely affected our stay. I don’t think something like that should be haphazardly mentioned. And seeing as this is nothing new (6+ months), it should have been pointed out on the website. Anywhere. Because it isn’t. Until after you have booked and get your email a eeek before where they mention it. ✔️The attractions could use a little updating. I don’t even mean new slides, but cleaning/painting some and maybe replacing a few severely corroded sections would be safer. ✔️Some of the staff you could tell did not want to be there. Totally understand, we all have those days, but a few of them just seemed miserable. Tips: ✔️We arrived on a Sunday and left that Thursday. Busy each of those days as folks checked out/checked in (respectively) for the weekend crowds. Very happy to have gone during the week when it was quieter. The lines were manageable when there weren’t so many, but that Sunday and Thursday were the busiest days. That’s when the short staffing was incredibly apparent. ✔️Their breakfast plan is easy and decently priced. You get a voucher and they bring you drinks plus a spread: cinnamon rolls, pancakes, sausage links/patties, bacon, country style hash browns, eggs (instant), and fruit. It’s very convenient before heading to the water park. They’ll also restock your breakfast plate if you get low on anything. ✔️Get their refillable drink cup. For one price, you can continue to refill throughout your stay. They do have it timed so you can’t just keep refilling minute after minute but it’s a pretty solid deal and two or three refilling spots throughout.
