I had heard mixed reviews about this hotel but it was the perfect location for the Italian Festival we were attending. The rooms were clean, comfortable and fairly well appointed with a fridge and microwave. It reminded me of a Hampton Inn just before renovation. We were in room 600 and had a river view, king bed, sofa, in room... More

Being the first time in more than 25 years I have traveled without my husband, I was a nervous traveler to say the least. When I arrived at the hotel, I was amazed at the beauty and sophistication of the lobby. The staff was very courteous and my room was ready. There are two security doors you must open with... More

This was a historic hotel but that building was torn down and this one put in its place. Wheeling itself is a rundown city that seems to have been forgotten for some reason. That said the hotel is not in the safest place. Parking is available but you have to drive around the hotel to find it. Once you have... More

After being in a lot of restaurants, and hotels' restaurants, this small cafe (with great music, by the way), was such a nice change. I got there by accident after a delay in my bus, and although their breakfast menu doesn't include any vegetarian options they were happy to make me something, simple but the way they cared about me... Best deal around for the price. For a total of $62 my room was large, clean, the king size bed was comfortable, it had a microwave, small refrigerator, a 32" flat screen TV with cable, and a coffee maker with one packet of coffee for the morning. Yes, it could use some updating but I have no complaints whatsoever. The... More

My husband made the reservation as part of our weekend getaway for our anniversary. Our room was on the 6th floor but we had to park on the 5th level then take an elevator up to the 6th. The hallways smelled of a stuffy bathroom. Thankfully our room smelled better but the burn marks on the counter from a cigarette,... More

My sons and I stayed at the McLure for a quick overnight. The room was clean. There was no wi-fi when we stayed. The beds were really bouncy, so they weren't real comfortable to sleep on. The restaurant was closed when we checked in (about 8 PM), so we search downtown Wheeling for an open restaurant. The advertised breakfast buffet... More

I came to Wheeling hoping to stay downtown and visit the brewpub. This was the closest place to the pub. I drove by and because of the people standing at the entrance I'm not a casino gambler but decided to check out the hotel at the casino. When I walked in there was a line about 15 deep getting checked... More

This is the kind of old-fashioned downtown hotel that has gone extinct in many cities. It's older and the lobby looked a little worn and dated (but then ... so did the whole city) but my room was clean and comfortable and the desk staff were very friendly and courteous (after I checked in, the guy at the front desk... We were in Wheeling for a hockey game at the Wesbanco arena which was 2 blocks away. First off, Wheeling is an old run down rust belt kinda town. The Maclure had pictures of past Presidents that had stayed or visited Wheeling with the last one being JFK...I think that was the last time they updated the place. We stayed... More
