I recently went to Snowshoe Bike Park for the weekend. Other than staying at the mountain there aren't other options except for camping. I rented a Jr. Suite at Expedition Station for 3 nights. I've stayed there before so I knew what to expect. It's the least expensive place in the Village. It had a queen size bed and I think the sofa turned into a bed, a wall-mounted TV, a small table and kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave, and a 2-burner cooktop. The kitchenette is supplied with dishes, cutlery, etc. The bathroom had plenty of towels. The suite was well worn and could stand to be updated, but it was very clean. No maid service is provided. They're doing some sort of construction on the one side of the building. It was also very quiet, although I don't think there were many occupants. The price of the room was reasonable considering it had a kitchenette. But once the state tax, mountain tax, resort fee, cleaning fee (even though there's no maid service) and whatever else is added in it DOUBLED THE PRICE of the room! I brought all of my food and snacks with me and did not eat out at all. I overheard a resident refer to it as comparable to Disney World for what they charge. So I was perfectly happy to cook all my meals in the room. It's a nice place to visit and it's a beautiful area. You have to be comfortable with no cell service (it's in the radio free area because of the Green Bank Observatory). However, most of the rooms do have WiFi calling. There is a small but not well stocked store on the mountain where the prices are high but if you need bread or eggs it's your only option. I'm not sure if everything is open during the week when it's between seasons. I've never been there during the ski season and I suspect it's busier during the cold months.

We decided on our short trip to tubing to stay overnight and fortunately found a room at Expedition Station. To be up front - rentals at Snowshoe are EXPENSIVE, and Expedition Station is actually at the cheap end but it will still run over $300/night during ski season, of which $140 is some kind of fee. It's not a hotel but instead a condo with hotel-style rental. There's no lobby which is the only big drawback - you have to drive down to Slaty Fork (about 5 miles) to pick up your keys. Also the checkin is late (4pm) and checkout early (10am) so prepare around that. But other than that, we found the place to be great. The room is very cozy but spacious and the kitchenette is well stocked with what you need (non-food, so bring yours). Because we eat special diets (gluten and dairy free) we almost always have to cook and this place made it easy. There's a HUGE TV to watch with plenty of channels and internet hookup, and every room has it's own Wifi router. The king bed was super comfortable - probably the best I've ever had in a hotel. The only downside was that the the pullout sofa was busted so we had to work around that but not too bad.

Rude workers, took forever and they complained the whole time. Said they did t know if they had any helmets left even though we paid for them. Super disorganized kept talking about how they might have equipment or not. Took at least an hour for 6 of us to get our gear

The workers are so rude! They were extremely unhelpful when my ski was broken and i was spoken to very rudely. I have been disappointed with the service and disrespect with this resort. There has been very bad service both days we have been skiing. If i could i would rate this place 0 stars.

The prices are affordable and their staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The ski gear is good quality and the entire process of renting and returning was very simple. I would recommend this location even if staying somewhere else in the village.

We stayed in room 314 at Expedition Station with two adults and two teens (16 and 14). The room was small (about 350sf) and though they say it will sleep 4, it is very tight for that number. The room has a queen bed and a pullout couch, so technically it will sleep 4, but if the couch is made into a bed, you cannot get to the window or half of the room. There is IKEA-like furniture, and VERY worn curtains, bedding, and carpet. The "kitchen" is a microwave and a two-burner stove, crammed in the hall between the bathroom and bed. The pots/pans are sketchy at best. The bathroom is standard, with a tub. Plenty of towels and soap/shampoo/conditioner provided. There is a ski locker provided for each room on the 1st floor. Expedition Station does not have any amenities, however it is a very short walk to everything that Snowshoe has to offer. In short, it was an overpriced room that was marginal at best. Maybe good for youths that would be comfortable in a hostel, but if you want an updated, above average room, this is not the place for you.

My son (9) and I decided to shoot out to Snowshoe for a last-minute weekend trip. I was looking for the cheapest accomodations in or near the Village. It was just the 2 of us and we didn't need a lot of space. Expedition Station was perfect. We picked up his skis on the lower level, had ski lockers in the building and could ski right out the back. We stayed in the Jr. Efficiency which was a hotel-sized room with a mini-fridge, sink, a small 2-burner stove and normal glassware, silverware and plates/bowles, etc. We've stayed in larger places at Snowshoe for but a cheap boys trip this was exactly what we needed.

This is a terrible hotel. I stayed 3 nights for my Thanksgiving vacation, first it's no comforter in the room until I called. Then around 10pm, they brought a blanket to me, still no comforter, it's cold night. And the worst thing is that no hot water for 2 nights of my 3 nights staying.

I recently attended a conference at Snowshoe for 4 days. I was a little late in booking my room at the time my other colleagues did so I ended up staying in a different location which was Expedition Station. The rooms were a little dated, however they were very comfortable and clean. I was pleased with the location as I was in the middle of the two locations in which our meetings and dinners were being held as well as right in the middle of evening food options and shopping. The room was quiet and the exercise facility was clean and well kept.

We were in town for the UCI Mountain Bike Race on a very busy weekend for Showshoe. For us, this location, right in the village, was key! We saw the fireworks from our room, we say the RACE from our room, and we saw the sunrise from our room! We had a corner unit (300) and booked through VRBO. Our service through the owner was SUPER.
