ACE Adventure Resort is praised for its variety of amenities and excellent service, with guests noting the attentive staff and fun-filled activities. The resort offers comfortable accommodations with cozy beds, and many travelers commend the cleanliness of both cabins and campsites. Opinions on value are mixed; some find it reasonable, while others feel it doesn't justify the cost.
Room cleanliness receives high expectations, and although most are satisfied, a few raise concerns. Availability of chairs and speed of service have been occasional issues.

We had a group of 9 people, 3 young adults, 4 middle aged and 2 seniors. We rented 2 cabins with 3 bedrooms each. They were nicely furnished although we would have liked a kitchen table with chairs, especially for rain days or when the mosquitos got too bad to hang outside, to sit around for meals or play cards. There was a breakfast bar with stools under it. Read the "what to bring" section in the website for a better experience. Make sure to plan ahead for activities by making reservations in advance. We rode ATV's, played paintball, completed the mud obstacle course, played in the waterpark and went whitewater rafting. Some of us opting out of certain activities but all of us went on the ATV's and rafting. Ace Adventures take safety seriously! Of course, that is a good thing. Our guides were kind, but firm, friendly and knowledgeable about Ace, the equipment and the area. The seniors in the group, aged 76 and 77, had Jen as their guide for rafting. Between her and Dave, the group leader, they made sure to travel the lighter areas of the rapids, yet still providing so much excitement! This was literally a once in a lifetime trip, as the older ones said "one and done" on many of these activities! But the rest of us will be back. Shoutout to all our guides, Dave, Jen, Josh/Bethany, Gage and Brian.

We stayed in a group tent, which was as shown in pictures. Agnes helped us in making the group reservation and she was great. A little loud at night with other campers around, but not a big deal. We did the full day lower new trip and it was awesome. Jeff was our guide and he was amazing. He was very informative as we were rafting which helped in knowing what to do when. He was very conversational and encouraging to our group, and he made sure to keep it fun for us all.
We also did the meals through their group reservation, and the food was great and it was reasonably priced. Our group is already talking about our next trip.

Unfortunately we could not find a reservation to stay on property but we did use the inflatable waterpark as well as the pontoon boat excursion. We purchased the half day morning pass and it was perfect. This place is tucked back in a secluded hollow town. The waterpark is the centerpiece of the resort. They have changing rooms and restrooms. Everyone is fitted for lifejacket to wear. They have tons of inflatable climbs, obstacle courses, slides and zipline. There is plenty of open lake to relax as well. The lake we found out is natural mountain spring water. They have a store and restaurant options.
We also went on the Summersville Lake tour. We met at the resort pavilion and take a bus ride to the lake marina which was about 30-40 mins. On the way across the gorge bridge we rode the rumbles to be able to look over the edge of bridge. The driver who was also the guide shared lots of knowledge and stories of the area. The boat provided a cooler with drinks and a deli lunch box as well. Our guide was amazing and brought his teenage daughter along with him, they were spectacular. While on the boat we first took a tour of the entire lake and learned some history, legends and stories. We then found a cove to swim, SUP board and kayak as well as just float and soak know the sun. The water is gorgeous and beyond clear. We spent around 3-4 hours on the boat. It was the highlight of the trip.

This weekend my family and I stayed at Ace Adventure resorts Laurel Cabin. The white water rafting was fantastic. Our tour guide was incredible. We chose a “renovated” cabin, thinking that at a price of over $250 per night it would be clean and comfy. We were shocked by the condition of the cabin. It was clean-likely because guest are charged $25 for any dish left in the sink. The bathroom sink had rust stains, screen door was ripped as was the dirty cover of the hot tub. It seems add that a resort that levies fees on guests for anything and everything possible would charge for a renovated cabin that is clearly in disrepair.

We reserved two nights at the Top of the World Full Hookup RV Sites. Based on conversations with employees on the phone and their websites we had the wrong expectations. I hope this review and photos will give RVers a true reflection of the conditions. If this site was free with our activities and IF they were upfront with the conditions we would have had a better experience. They market this as full hookup sites that are level, in reality you drive up a half paved one lane road with a lot of low hanging limbs to arrive in a downward sloping row of gravel laid pads just wide enough for your rig. This would have been fine if explained and offered free with our rafting/paintball, but to pay $50+txs on something that is a 40 minute walk to the restaurant was not what we thought we had booked. It is also a very small windy road from the interstate to the entrance of ACE. We were treated great by the front desk and had an overall good experience except for the campsites, the primitive tent camping would have been a much better option. It is a great place to go and spend time with your kids, hopefully with these pictures you will have a good idea of what to expect. And the closes shower house is a 10 minute walk at the primitive camp ground.

I brought my kids here thinking it would be soekthibg fun for them. Ages 7 and 4. There were plenty in inflatables for them to play on and make friends. While my 7 year old was on the blob for kids under 12 he got caught between the 2 inflatables that's had been brought together to form the blob. The stairs and blob itself. It took about 3 seconds after my son fell between the 2 inflatables before I realized he wasn't coming up and he was stuck. I had to take my life jacket off and go under to pull him out. He was completely shooken up. Stuck between the inflatables with no air. Earlier in the day both of my son were in this hamster wheel looking inflatable. I got pulled under while trying to hold the inflatables still to give my 4 year old the opportunity to stand up. I'm thankful for this happening to me first because it caused me to be more cautious with my kids as they played. I highly suggest the park put some nets or something under these inflatables to avoid someone being pulled of falling under. Until there are better cautions we won't be returning. Please be careful anyone going out there and keep an eye on your kids safely jackets can only do so much. Outside of my safety concerns thr kids had fun. Even after no longer getting on inflatables. They had fun jsut swimming and the food was great.

Went on the upper and lower new river overnight raft tour. It was an absolute blast. Had amazing guides in Hogan, Vanna, Tristan and Skip. The trip was better than I expected and these people are a large part of the reason why. Also, the food on this trip was pretty unbelievable. Honestly the best food I’ve ever had camping.
If you are looking for a “real” rafting experience and can only do a one day trip, I’d say the lower was significantly more exciting and fun.
One thing I will mention to anyone taking an overnight trip - don’t worry about overpacking. Your gear is loaded into a dry bag and driven to your campsite separately, so no need to pack light. Bring stuff to do at the campsite as you’ll likely have plenty of downtime there. I also recommend bringing your own sleeping pad or inflatable mattress as you’ll be staying in a tent on a wooden “deck” at the campsite.

My husband and I brought our 3 kids (ages 15, 13, and 12) to ACE for their first white water rafting trip. Scotty O was our guide and said he had picked us because he wanted our kids to have a great first trip while making safety the top priority. As a mother, this really reassured me! Scotty O. Absolutely lived up to this! He made sure my kids had an absolutely fantastic trip...they got to get out of the boat numerous times and swim and he let them ride a small rapids in the water! He allowed my two younger kids to go to the front of the boat and put their hands up to enjoy a bigger rapids. He made sure my youngest was in the back of the boat with him and even had him sit 2 of the class V’s and hold on to make sure he was safe. He even had my teenager smiling most of the trip! I cannot say enough good things about Scotty O! We will definitely return and go with him again! My kids said it was one of the most fun things they have ever done!!!

We stayed here for 3 nights in the mountain top rv campground. We visited the water park twice.
The water park was a lot of fun. We had 8 kids ages 3-15 and there was something fun for all of the kids to do. They never go bored and wanted to return many times during the stay.
We are at the restaurant twice and each time, the food was very good. They were clearly short staffed but our servers were very good and worked very hard to accommodate our large group.
The RV campsite was the absolute worst we’ve ever been to. We stayed in the Mountain Top RV section. First, it’s poorly marked. It’s about mile from the water park but took about 25 minutes to drive there. The roads are very narrow and badly maintained. We have a heavy duty diesel truck pulling a 27 foot camper and it was very difficult to maneuver due to countless huge potholes, roads barely wide enough for a single vehicle ( even though it’s “ 2lane”) and extreme drop offs next to the road. The campsites are very close together and the grass is not mowed. The entire park
Is really in need of some grounds maintenance as far as weeds, high grass, washed out walkways and roads.
If you’re camping with any length camper, stay away from this part of the campground.

My husband and I took our three boys (ages 10,12, and 14) rafting on the Lower New River and we had what might be the best vacation our family has ever been on. Bear was our guide and we will make every attempt to have him guide our next trip, which we are already planning. My boys loved Bear! His sense of humor and down to earth personality made for an entertaining and never a dull moment trip. Bear seemed incredibly knowledgable of the river and its history and was able to make sharing this information interesting to my kids. Which is not an easy thing to do.
Initially we practiced how to maneuver the raft and prior to each rapid, Bear discussed the dangers and the plan for how we would navigate it. He made certain we all knew what to do in the event we found ourselves out of the raft. For every single rapid! My husband and I felt extremely safe having Bear guide the raft for our family.
We can't wait to go back and do it all over again. My boys talked about Bear the rest of the evening, the following day, and even now that we are back home, they are reliving his stories. Such a fun time! We were initially hesitant about going but we are so glad we did.
The day prior to rafting we visiting the water park which was also surprisingly fun. The clear favorite for my boys was getting launched on the blob.
Every aspect of the process from trip planning, to reservation, to check in, and execution by ACE was smooth. Everyone we encountered was professional and helpful despite the difficulties of operating in the current Covid climate. It really seems to be a well run organization.
I hope our next trip is an exact replica. I can't recommend ACE enough.

There is an ice machine near the office. I believe you must purchase the ice in bags.
I believe we checked in at 8:30 am
The other times, i do not know.
Best to give them a call.
Very helpful group
Everyone masks for the bus ride-they provide mask. Lunch is on the bank of the river with plenty of spread out space. The only time you may mix with another group is if you have to pick up someone who came out of another raft. I’m a health care professional and have read a lot about transmission of COVID. I felt very safe on our trip.
