Went to the Mardi Gras Casino today and upon arrival at customer service I was downgraded from Diamond to Emerald. It took me 1 1/2 years to make it to diamond. The reason I was told that I didn't earn 40,000 pts within a 6 month period, that I only made 15,000 pts, my total pts are 27,000 plus. When were the rules changed?
I brought my Mom here for her Birthday. We had stayed here in 2021 and it was great. We were staying 2 nights 3 days. They have no room cleaning, we had to ask for towels. The towels were left hanging on our door, rooms were dirty, no refrigerator or coffee pot. Breakfast had cold coffee and cold water for tea, old stale fruit and some cereal. Plastic spoons. They only serve plastic cups and styrofoam. They use the pandemic for all terrible changes. See pictures. Lamps in room were broken and dirty. Furniture was old and rough around edges. The fixtures in shower were dirty and old. Not at all a good stay.
I booked a stay at this resort/casino from June 17-21 because our son was playing in the President's Soccer Cup in WV. I used a 3rd party to secure the reservations and was unaware kids are not permitted. My son left the room to get something. Upon his return, there was a loud aggressive banging at their door. My husband opened the door to find a red-faced guy screaming at him about kids not being permitted. Then the guy proceeded to yell over my husband (who was standing in the doorway) in my son's direction and said, "the next time you are asked to produce ID, you better produce it". My son had no idea what the guy was talking about and even if he did, he doesn't have ID as he is a minor. Both my husband and son were confused by what the hotel staff member was screaming at them. Once it was clear, my husband explained that his wife booked their reservation, and she obviously would not have done so if she knew kids were not permitted considering the whole point of the stay was for my son to attend a soccer tournament. The guy could care less he stood there with his hand holding the door open stating, "let's go, out" as if they had somewhere else to go. They were 7 and 1/2 hours from home, not familiar with the area, and all the hotels in the area were booked solid due to the tournament. I received a panicked call from my husband asking me to help him find another hotel as they were being kicked out. My husband and son were treated like criminals and given no time to find alternate accommodations. A polite conversation would have made it clear there was no intentional wrongdoing. Now I'd like to explain before I'm judged that we live in a state that encourages family stays at casinos. In fact, many of the casinos are geared toward families and they have amenities for kids like bowling, mini-golf, movies, pools, arcades etc. I never thought in a million years that kids would not be permitted, nor was it disclosed. I was looking for a place close to the fields that included breakfast (because there is literally nothing in the town). I received a panicked call from my husband asking me to help him find another hotel as they were being kicked out. The relocation cost about $300 more than we planned. My husband and son were treated like criminals on what was supposed to be a memorable trip.…
Nice hotel attached to the casino. Property was clean. Did not have a fridge, coffeemaker or microwave as most properties have. Breakfast consisted of muffins, some fruit, granola bars and coffee. Beds were very comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel and nice room. I suspect they think they can ask for a higher price because it is connected to the Casino. However the Casino is a total bust with nothing open (restaurant) during the day, Since we went for the Casino and Greyhound racing this was a disappointing visit. The bar in the hotel is closed and what used to be a nice breakfast is now a so-so continental breakfast.
Very convenient to casino, cold breakfast, pool shut down, very friendly staff ! We were on the 3rd floor and the stomping above us was very annoying so I suggest you go above 3rd floor. Really to pricey for what you get. At 3:45 am people were running down the hall and talking loudly.
Rundown hotel with mold in rooms. No help getting a different room. Told us the room would be comped because of their lack of action during our stay. That was a lie. Tried to reach out to the manager and all we heard was “sorry I didn’t respond to your email” AVOID. Can you rate as a zero ?????
We have been staying here 3-4 times a year for the past ten years. Really has changed for the worst.. Furniture in rooms is shabby but the beds are comfortable. Last visit sink was broken, the guy tried to fix it, made it worse. Left oil all over the floor and said it would have to wait. We had to change rooms at midnight. I did ask for some reduction on rate. They took off $23..Yikes. Got to second room and toilet was broken. This has been our favorite place passing through Charleston. Hotel needs a total reno. Off our list for now!
When I tell you this hotel room was dirty, it was dirty! There was a strip of dust on all of the baseboards and corners of the carpet, stains on the comforter, curtains and the carpet, black goo on the walls in places, tooth past splatters from the people before, lights burned out, the vent fan didn't work, hole in the curtain, cobwebs in the corners, a layer of dust on all hard surfaces, toilet seat was broken, bathroom floor was so dirty the tiles were black, buildup in the tubs. Lets not mention, you pay full price for the hotel rooms, 2 restaurants are closed and the breakfast was coffee, milk for drink options and a muffin or yogurt for the food, you can see where there used to be a very nice breakfast. The pool is closed, why I am not sure, every other pool is opened back up now in the state. The staff was very nice and helpful. The food that was offered was good. Lines were very long for food and drinks. I kept hearing people talk about how the new owners took over and the place has gone down hill and how they are no longer winning like they used to on the machines as well. I sure wish I could have stayed there when it was good.…
Worst hotel ever! We will never be back. Booked a king room online. Checked in and room had 2 double beds. Lady at check in did not tell me. We found out when we opened the door. No refrigerator , no microwave, no coffee pot! I mean really $180/night + taxes $202 for a room like this. I was told they didn't have any king rooms even though I booked it online 2 weeks prior. What is the point of making a reservation if you don't get what you paid for? Very VERY disappointed. Vending machines are only on the 2nd & 3rd floor so we were on the 4th and had to go to the elevator for ice. Casino was ok. We were given a $50 credit but I wish the check in lady would have told us first so I would have known about the room situation and we would have went to another hotel up the road. This was a halfway point for our trip from Michigan to North Carolina.…
