I had an excellent experience here. The owners are wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with them. The breakfast each day was substantial and the food quality excellent. I devoured each meal. Coffee also is really good - Joseph blends a couple of organic beans to make a better brew. I had dinner here one night as well and it was also very good (trout with a tasty crab cake that actually had crab - often find they are breadcrumbs and mayo - and properly cooked fresh tasting vegetables). I stayed in the upstairs room which is very spacious though does have more stairs if that is an issue for you. Grounds are lovely as well. Close to the Greenbrier river trail and the town which is small but cute and the folks friendly. Great place to bike and hike.

Property's Favorite Review
The Locust Hill Inn is a must-stay for bikers, hikers, or if you simply want to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. I loved my stay in the Almost Heaven room - it was even better than the photos! Joseph and Vanessa are lovely hosts. They always greeted me with a smile, asked about my day and adventures, plus the breakfast is divine. I used their shuttle service two days in a row so I could bike as much of the trail as possible. I also enjoyed the front porch swing post-biking and the tea selection in the evenings. I highly recommend this quaint spot!

Locust Hill Inn in Marlinton, WV, is a wonderful place to stay while you are exploring all that Pocahontas County has to offer. We have stayed at Locust Hill Inn in May 2022 (with the original long time inn owners) as well as in September 2022 (with the new inn owners) and found that both times the owners were very hospitable and accommodating, and provided an extensive, delicious, very satisfying breakfast, We stayed in one of the smaller rooms, yet it provided enough space and comfort for us (and our luggage for a 4-day trip). The grounds of the inn are extensive, and therefore it is quiet and peaceful. Various picnic tables and rockers provide plenty of opportunity to enjoy a quiet evening outside, watching the sun set behind the West Virginia mountains. We are hoping to return to this inn!

A nice value. Breakfast was really good, albeit a bit rushed. They also serve dinner. Owners are friendly. Room over the kitchen was a bit noisy in the morning. I would stay here again, just in a different room. A good asset for Marlinton area.

We spent two nights here while cycling the Greenbrier River Trail in late October. It was totally worth the climb up the hill ! Dave is the embodiment of a host extraordinaire, completely attentive to our needs and privacy both. The breakfast was outstanding and, at his suggestion, we got take out Italian food in town to accompany the wine and beer that was available to us in his pub. It was magical to sit on the porch and dine while watching the deer meander across the lawn and the sun set over the mountains. We would love to return !

This is my first time in Marlinton. I am so glad we chose the Locust Hill Inn. Dave and Paula were wonderful hosts. They even provide shuttle service to parts of the Greenbrier River Trail. They served a delicious hot breakfast and also have a tavern on site. The property was relaxing. I enjoyed sitting in the swing by the pond or on the front porch with an order of wine and cheese. We chose the suite on the top floor. It was clean and comfortable and roomy.

We stayed 3 nights at Locust Hill Inn while bicycling the Greenbrier River Trail. Owners, Dave and Paula guided us on everything from access to bike trails to local restaurants. Our stay was wonderful, rooms are cozy, comfortable and clean. Daily breakfast was a feast, Dave is an amazing cook!!! Wish we would have stayed on the weekend to have his dinners. We also enjoyed morning coffee and evening brews from their own pub on the covered porch overlooking the mountains and wildlife. Hope to visit again!

The place is beautiful! Locust Hill is very inviting and the owners are awesome and very laid back. They have a small bar inside and patio bar in the back. Breakfast was awesome. I was too late for dinner. If you want to get off the grid do it here!

We recently stayed 3 nights at Locust Hill Inn. It is a gem nestled in the West Virginian town of Marlinton. It was so cute & comfortable! Owners were knowledgeable about local recreation activities and served delicious breakfasts, too. We also enjoyed a yummy dinner there on Thursday nite which was also Trivia nite-fun! We enjoyed biking the Greenbrier Trail, hiking and visiting Green Bank.
