We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were there for a memorial service on behalf of a friend who had passed. The entire place was gorgeous. Our room was clean, comfy and cozy. I can't say enough about how beautiful it was. I also want to commend the staff. They were cordial, courteous and went above and beyond to be helpful to us. I was experiencing heat exhaustion, and they took care of me and made sure I was comfortable. They kept checking on me, too. I am so grateful to them. Everyone there was friendly and professional. We loved our stay and plan to go back again.

Our first visit to The Guesthouse was wonderful! We stayed in the Hobson Cabin, top floor. Gary and all staff were so welcoming and friendly, helping us to feel right at home. The views are gorgeous, and there is plenty to do on the property without needing to leave if you so choose. We played pool, watched a movie in the TV room, steamed in the sauna and overall just enjoyed the picturesque views The Guesthouse has to offer! Other guests we met were all very nice and welcoming as well, chatting and sharing things to do in the area. We hardly ran into people outside of the bar and restaurant area, which made it almost feel like we had the place to ourselves. The very best part is that my amazing boyfriend became my fiancé on the balcony overlooking the perfect mountain views! Gary was super excited for us and helped us celebrate well. We will never forget The Guesthouse and hope to return soon.

We enjoyed a great weekend in the Hobson cabin, which was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Like the rest of the property, it was well maintained and lovingly cared for. Jesse & Gary, as well as the whole staff, do their best to make you feel welcome.

The main building has a lot of cozy communal areas to enjoy drinks and socializing. The breakfast is a fixed menu each am, but there many selections for different preferences at dinner. The staff is very accommodating to specific dietary needs. A lot of local people seem to come for dinner on Sat nights so be sure to have a reservation. The food is fresh and delicious and reasonably priced.

They are very mindful of Covid 19 safety protocols. It seems perfect for couples or small groups seeking a peaceful setting.

The owners, Gary and Jesse, were welcoming, friendly, and clearly love their little slice of heaven in Lost River. Our cabin was decorated with the care someone would take with their home: warm, inviting, comfy full of texture; not stuffy or corporate. There are a TON of accommodations, such as a table waiting for your morning breakfast, sauna, pool, entertainment room, sitting areas with books, games, TV, hot tub, you name it! Even the friendly guests help curate the vibe. All smiles and relaxed faces, which is a testament to the oasis Gary and Jesse have created! We can't wait to stay again!

The owners were very hospitable and offered a tour of the property on arrival. Multiple shared spaces, including a pool and hot tub, to relax in. The room was rustic, very clean, and had a beautifully updated bathroom. Breakfast was included, which was a nice perk. We also ate dinner twice at the property which was excellent! The owners are very serious about COVID guidelines, which we appreciated. We look forward to returning!

I came to the Guesthouse in Lost River through the recommendation of a friend, and it exceeded my expectations. This is a cozy, charming mountain oasis only a few hours from Washington, DC. If you're looking for a weekend getaway to get lost in nature, either with a partner or with friends, this is the place. The property is tasteful and welcoming, and the owners are extremely hospitable and attentive to every detail. The common spaces and mealtimes make it easy to connect with other guests while you're visiting. I will definitely return and highly recommend.

The property is located in a quiet overlook near Lost River - well appointed facility and grounds - great hospitality from the moment you arrive until you leave. There are plenty of common areas to relax, read, and unplug. The owners take COVID seriously and still achieve a restful and relaxing environment. The restaurant has great food and attentive service.

We wanted to get out of town for our first anniversary, and booked three nights at the Guesthouse.

From the moment we walked through the door and were greeted by Jessie, as Gary ran ahead to open our room, we knew we were in for something special. The property is gorgeous and beautifully maintained. From the high end toiletries in the bathrooms to the care taken with every meal, the experience is just lovely.

There's also a vibe - Jessie and Gary are much more than the proprietors, they are truly your hosts and want to be sure you're having a great time. The other guests were diverse, welcoming and there for the same vibe.

We thoroughly loved it, and are already planning return visits. Which is why we don't want to tell too many people how wonderful it is!

I stayed for a long weekend this month and enjoyed every minute of it from my lovely Carriage House room (#1 has the best views!), the sauna and hot tub after hikes, delicious breakfasts and dinners (shout out to Tiffany!), and all of the cozy reading spots. I can't wait to come back during other seasons of the year and bring friends! Gary and Jesse have created a really special place and I'm so glad I discovered it.

Just a fantastic place to stay. The property is amazing, restaurant is solid, location is clutch, and the owners are so friendly and attentive. We stayed in the large Guesthouse Suite for a weekend and it was perfect for a couple - private balcony was a nice bonus.

Lost River, West Virginia
Due to COVID-19, only our seasonal outdoor hot tub is available to guests. It will close on or about October 1st, 2020.

Lost River's mountainous terrain makes driving necessary to most attractions. Many attractions, mainly hiking trails, are located short distances from each other, all that need to be accessed by car.
