This is our third time staying at AOTG (and our first winter stay), and it was another incredible experience. This time was really special because we had our 6month old son with us, and it was so great to bring him to one of our favorite places for our first family vacation. We have stayed each time in the one bedroom Outback Cabins, and they are so worth the splurge! The hot tub and luxury feel of the cabin is unbeatable after the long drive there, and after a long day of fun adventures on the river. It was perfect for the three of us, and we were talking about how our children will love sleeping in the loft one day! I love that AOTG is not just a place to stay, but an entire resort. In the summer, it's so nice to walk (or take a very short drive if we're feeling tired or sore haha) to the incredible pool or restaurants/bar. For this winter trip we took, it was so nice to hike around and enjoy the peace and quiet, and relax in our hot tub. The restaurants were understandably closed down since it is the off-season, but that is ok, because we ended up living off of Pies & Pints pizza (I would make the 8hr drive for their pizza alone) and you HAVE to stop at Country Thai (right on Ames Ht Rd before you get to AOTG). They have the best authentic Thai food and the owners are so nice. Both places are just minutes from the resort. I also must add that the staff and guides are always great. Very helpful and knowledgeable, very friendly. The guides are fantastic (we know from our previous trips- went rafting on the New). We are already planning our next trip back for this summer, and bringing some friends with us. Looking forward to making a lifetime of great memories to cherish with my family and friends.

Adventures on the Gorge is in the best part of West Virginia! Staff and accommodations are A++. While we were there it wasn't the season for rafting so we will be back for sure to hit the river. Definitely a must see on your journey.

We had such an amazing family weekend. The hot tub was a huge hit with the kids. We loved being in the woods, the hot tub, and making a fire outside. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even jumped our car battery when it died. We will be returning again in February.

Beautiful place . Expensive but worth it... from white water rafting to paintball guns. This place has it all. Very family oriented and the perfect combination of resort / nature . It has the comfort of amenities while preserving the beauty of its natural surroundings. Wonderful place to plan a family or group getaway. I will definitely be back next year! A little advise .. save money and bring your tents.

Had a great New Years Eve at Smokey’s. Beautiful resort and very nice event. We stayed in a Sunnyside cabin which was perfect for a short overnight stay...was like a luxurious hotel room only with a private entrance like a cabin.
