Accessed by boat, the island is beautiful. The staff were all friendly and willing to talk (if desired). Stargazing cruise, snorkel, scuba, island hop tour, kayak, swim, play games, or rest in your hammock. Snacks always available. Bartender Dan will make sure you love your drinks. I wanted to bring the chef, Oscar, home with us for all my meals. The food was the best I’ve ever had! Very laid back atmosphere provided the relaxation we were looking for while allowing easy mingling with the other guests (30 max).

Thatch Caye Resort in Belize was the perfect spot for all your water activities whether it be fishing to diving. Or if you just want to relax surrounded by the Caribbean then Thatch Caye can cater to your every needs. We partook of most of their adventures from excursions to Mayan temples to diving and snorkeling the Belize reef. The staff was always accommodating and flexible. The rooms air conditioned provided a great retreat when you got overheated. The electricity was stable despite being on generator. WIFI at the main building was sufficient to address pressing needs which inevitably come up. Food was excellent thanks to the creativity of the chef. Shoutout to all the staff that made the trip a memorable vacation from the concierge treatment prior to arrival to departure! This resort is on the must return list!

Our 4th trip to Thatch Caye and, as always, were treated like friends by the fabulous staff. Ten days of snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, delicious food and drinks, and just plain relaxing! The first time we experienced a Pibil (pronounced Pee-beel), which is a Belizian pig roast. This is a place where you make instant friends - sitting around the large dining table under a starry sky talking about all the experiences of the day is wonderful!

Just like the photos! Paradise!! Tours offered were great but the staff participating made them even better. We biked, snorkelled, kayaked, paddle boarded and hung out at the beach or in hammocks. 3 beautiful meals everyday! Chef Oscar and Henry nailed every dish! When you go fishing or lobster hunting they cook it up for you which everyone enjoyed. The dogs being there was such a highlight to the vacation! Jr. was the best bartender anyone could asked for. Always playing great music and playing games with us. William went out of his way to help me fix my broken wheel on my luggage as well as got us a special treat from town and Louis was super professional and fun! Thank you to all the staff!!!! Very special once ina lifetime trip! We appreciate all you did!

The people are so friendly and we are so thankful for a relaxing vacation. We went for 5 days and that was perfect. The excursions offered were great as well. We would suggest bringing games or a book as there is no town to visit on the island so during the morning or afternoon showers we would play games until the rain passed. Also make sure to ask about alcohol offered and food available. We were not specific which turned out fine but it’s limited because the island is so secluded. Overall we LOVE it here and will come back as couples or with our kids.

The most beautiful, relaxing week! This place is so beautiful! Our bungalows really felt like a get away from your everyday hustle and bustle. I cannot say enough about the staff here 🥰 we felt so loved and cared for during our entire trip! Every request we made, they provided for and with smiles! We truly felt like we made new friends and will be back! We had a birthday while there and they made special preparations and celebrated with us. Kamaui, Will, Shakira, Monique , and Junior really went above and beyond to make our trip special and we felt that. Freddy’s meals were so fresh and amazing! I am usually not a fish eater but his had me wanting more 😆. ThAnk you Thatch Caye for an experience we will not be forgetting!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were cared for, addressed by our names and just so well taken care of its hard to be too effusive. From Rafi who took us on the Reef Snorkeling, Lobter/Conch hunt and the Island Crawl to the two wonderful women who gave us deep tissue massages this resort was wonderful. With a limit of 30 guests, there are no crowds, nothing that can't be arranged on this small island in the Caribbean - food was great, service was extremely gracious, the two Island dogs are great with the kids, the wild life is abundant and the family atomsphere was so welcomed.

Thatch Caye is as its Trip Advisor rating - a midrange eco resort, not an upscale resort that most people conjured up in their minds bc of the pictures and promo videos. Realistic expectation is key to avoid disappointment, like we did when we arrived on a gray drizzling New Year’s Day at the private island. The room and furnishings were basic, cushions/bed sheets need sprucing up to be more comfortable. The main communal lodge - Coco Lounge, is lack of lighting and uninviting, overdue for updates. Communal dining long table is some wooden picnic tables joined together. There is nothing luxurious about this resort as touted on its website. I will give it 2 stars but we paid a 4 stars rate. This is nothing like the beach resort in Mexico and Caribbean that we are accustomed to. Next day, sun was out (and rest of our 5 days stay) and the vibes changed. While everything about the resort mentioned in first paragraph held constant and true, we started to appreciate the serenity and beauty of the island and water. The staff swept the entire island with rake every morning, no fallen leaves left unswept on the sand. Beach lounge chairs were easy to get hold of (except for one day when there were island hoppers visiting for the day), cooler filled with ice cold beers and drinks, bartender Danny always there to concoct new drinks according to your taste. Watching sunset at Starfish Bar/Lounge before dinner was so relaxing and a place to get to know some fellow guests. You can walk round the entire island in less than 30 minutes, so no need for bicycle. Communal dining wasn’t our thing but it wasn’t unbearable bc the people we met were nice and friendly. Food by Chef Freddy was good and he always checked in to make sure we enjoyed the food. You can get paddle boards or canoes anytime bc there were only 30 guests max? on the island. The water was typically calm and shallow around the island. So we did a loop of the island in our canoes and our daughter in paddle board. With that, we increased it to 3 Stars rating. What pushed the rating to 4 Stars were the Thatch Caye excursions and the staff/guide. They really made the experience so much better and special and helped us enjoy our vacation. We went on Star Gazing, Island Crawl, Reef snorkeling and Lobster/Conch Hunting excursions. We loved every one of them. Special callout to Rafael and Darvin, who were the best guides. Rafael is so experienced and knowledgeable, and so genuine and kind. I have never been on a snorkeling tour whereby the guide pointed at every fish/coral, came up and told us the names. He dove down to poke the lobster out of the corals too so that we could see it. The highlight of our daughter’s trip was the lobster and conch hunt. It was no easy feat, especially for Rafael bc he had to swim/dive fast to hunt for them and then signaled to my daughter/husband to dive down to spear it. He even showed us how to clean lobster and conch after the trip and chef Freddy cooked them and served us at dinner. We brought back a conch cleaned meticulously by Rafael overnight so that we could bring back home for memories. We will always remember Rafael and our Thatch Caye vacation when we look at the conch shell on the shelf. Finally, loved the island pets Pico and Marley. My favorite was Pico, always nudged me at dinner bc he knew I was the weakest link.
