Great location to downtown and the New River Gorge. The condition was not as good as expected - it is in need of updates. The lamp would not turn on, there was a 2x4 for a window ledge, and the headboard was not connected to the bed. I wouldn’t say it was dirty.
My husband and I booked this “Bed and Breakfast” because it was half way to our destination. In the best of times we would have chalked our mistake up to bad luck, during Covid it was DOWNRIGHT terrifying! We should have taken our suitcases back down the stairway and kept driving! The place is filthy! The owner told us it was sanitized after each guest and that many protocols were in place. After going to dinner at Firecreek barbecue we came back and went to take showers and were totally grossed out! There was mold in the shower! We watched a movie and were ready for bed. The blinds are so cheap that they don’t block the light. I pulled the cheap curtains and they were filthy! Then I looked down and there was mold and dirt on the windowsill!! The next morning we couldn’t wait to leave. The host offered us a boxed breakfast but having seen the inside of the office and what looked like the kitchen we wanted nothing to do with any of their food. The word hoarding comes to mind! I know everyone is struggling but there is no excuse for filth and misrepresentation is simply inexcusable in today’s times! DO NOT STAY HERE! …
Beautiful house, had a wonderful stay with our family but with that one minor problem, the owner was a bit ummmm-grouchy. He wanted the lights out and go to bed about 10:00 and a few other small issues. Parking was a tad confusing. Perfect location with a short walk to several places to eat 3> Cheryl
Our Family had a really nice time at the Morris Harvey house over the weekend. We stayed in the grand room/suite which is perfect for a family of 3 or 4 as it comes with an extra bed. Breakfast is served at 8:30am sharp but works well with most activities in the area. Great dinner and lunch options within walking distance. Very clean which helps in COVID times.
I was looking for a place to stay that was a bit out of the ordinary, the Harvey House was exactly that! I wanted to explorer the Fayetteville area and see the New River Gorge. This made an excellent "home base". The host was friendly and informative and helped me plan my visit to make the best of my time. The place was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was on time and quite satisfying. The bed was quite comfortable. Room temperature was very comfortable but not controllable. Half-bath was small but quite adequate. I did not check the full, hall bath. I would definitely recommend this B & B to anyone looking for this type of accommodations in the New River Gorge Area.
