Graceland Inn, the former summer residence of West Virginia's first Democratic US Senator, Henry Gassaway Davis, is on the National Historic Landmarks Register. In 1996 the restoration of Graceland Inn was complete and opened to the public as a Historic Country Inn. All rooms in Graceland Inn are furnished with antiques or Victorian reproductions. Each room has a private bath, individual climate controls, a television, and complimentary wireless internet access. An elevator is available and we are handicap accessible. The facility is completely smoke free, and does not allow pets of any kind. We also offer complimentary continental breakfast for all guests. Graceland also features a Conference Center with more traditional style hotel rooms with modern amenities and meeting space. Graceland Inn is located on the beautiful campus of Davis and Elkins College and within walking distance to many restaurants in downtown Elkins. Please note that our in-house restaurant is closed, however, our catering services are able to assist you in planning your special event. We look forward to serving you.

Graceland Inn is a beautiful old mansion. The Forest Festival is a fantastic event and the Queens stay at the Inn and the Conference Center. I highly recommend a tour of the College and the other Mansion, Hallieheardt.

My husband and I stayed in the mini suite. We thoroughly enjoyed combing the property, breakfast on the veranda, and the employees. The provided toiletries smelled wonderful. A little more attention to cleaning is needed. There was a used bar of soap on the bath tub, a half used bottle of scope, a piece of trash in the closet, dust bunnies on the head board and ceiling. The bedroom door really had a terrible squeak that wd40 would quickly remedy. The water for the tub would only come out of the shower head. There was also a lot of noise at night that I can't explain. If these things were addressed it would be a wonderful place to stay for those that love history!

I was booked in the Cougan Room due to an oversight with hotel rooms and the inn being our only option. I read the reviews and prepared myself to endure. They are WRONG. The inn is beautiful and it is charming and I didn’t notice any horrible musty smell. The Inn is super clean. You can walk on the wood floors without stepping on dirt. The breakfast was admittedly continental - which is stated on their website. But the fruit was super fresh and well displayed. Coffee was Hot and fresh. Eating area was beautiful. The staff was super friendly and helpful with every detail. There’s a billiard room on the third floor and lots to explore. If you want modern - try somewhere else but it was a beautiful place. The sheets were excellent quality. Yes, there are minor cosmetic blemishes here and there but overall an experience worth making.

I’ll start with the good: 1. Nice woodwork, stained glass, etc. Very Victorian. A beautiful home but wearing away closing due to negligence and upkeep. 2. We will say the bed was very comfortable; nice and soft, they way we like it. 3. The air conditioning worked properly. Bad & the Ugly: 1. I’ll document everything so you can see exact circumstances. 2. The room was nice, but not worth the money it cost. ($175) For this amount you would expect upkeep and maintenance. 3. First, the room was very musty smelling. I found out why in a few minutes. 4. There was obviously a leak in the chimney thus the waste basket and towel under the fireplace. (Pic attached) 5. The second source of the moldy smell was obviously stemming from the bathroom shower. Let’s say very moldy. We couldn’t believe it had not been properly cleaned for mildew/mold. (Pic attached) TILEX works wonders; no excuse for the mold!!!!!! 6. The sink was in no better state – see picture for rust stains. 7. The light fixture had no bulb cover! The mirror was too tall for me to even see my face. 8. Patching of the wall had been done with no effort to paint it. I’ll now proceed to the morning breakfast and veranda: 1. Breakfast was not fresh; coffee runs out. No refill on the coffee brew cannister and they take immediately/promptly at 9:00 am 2. Sitting out on the veranda – paint peeling, chairs peeling, porch roof in bad repair/cleaning (mold present again on porch ceiling, bannisters, etc.) We were saddened by the disrepair and upkeep of this once magnificent home. Ever back in Elkins, we are staying somewhere else.

We were not able to get a room in the inn, so we ended up in the conference center, which is an old dorm. Old is a bit of an understatement. Just getting there was a bit of a challenge. Lots of broken cement on the stairs and walkways. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a smell. We think it was from the very old rugs. Our room was large but it looked like they had kept all the furniture from when it was a dorm. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The television was a 19" old box set. The bathroom was set up as a handicapped bathroom. The bar by the toilet looked like it was stained by some sort of bodily fluid. The shower was so unappealing that neither one of us wanted to use it.
