When I called to make reservations, I specifically asked if all the rooms had microwaves and refrigerators. I was told YES. That was not true. I was planning on doing a lot of hiking and looked forward to the breakfast menu that I saw online. Instead, the first morning was a continental breakfast which amounted to cereal, breads, gravy, fruit... More

Positives: Room was small but clean and the beds were decent. Complimentary soaps and lotion were a nice touch in the bathroom. Parking was ample and just steps from the front door. Lodge itself is dated however appropriate for a state park / nature preserve. Love the hiking trails and wildlife (we explored three different trails and were blown away... More

This place is heaven on earth. The accommodations are not Ritz Carlton, but if you are coming out this way, that is not the expectation. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The facilities are VERY well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food in the lodge restaurant is GREAT...again, this is not New York or Washington, but they... More

We went to an anniversary dinner in a nearby county and had stayed here years ago, so we decided to come early and spend a couple of nights to unwind. Nothing had changed, literally. Room was clean but in dire need of modernizing. King bed was comfy, as were the pillows but the room was a bit spartan. Bathtub tile... More

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying several days in a one room cabin. What a total delight. We spent our days hiking the beautiful trails with our dog and we spent the quiet evenings reading in front of the fire. No TV or Internet. In other words, perfect (especially the week before the election)! The small kitchen... More

This is 2016, not the 1960's. We were very disappointed with what we got for the price we paid. The country is beautiful but the Lodge detracts from that beauty. Lodge has not been updated, except for the installation of the flat screen tv. Even the cable doesn't have a guide so you can determine what is on the tv.... More

Finally made the trip to Blackwater Falls State Park. Stayed 2 nights in the lodge, with our friends. We all agreed the experience was well worth it. Reasonably priced, clean and quite comfortable. The free wi-fi worked well. The dining room offered delicious menus, but they sometimes seemed understaffed. No big deal to us, though. As I have read in... More

We decided to stay at the lodge for our overnight stay and are glad we did. Accommodations are average but we knew that going in. You could tell there were more recent upgrades to the room with paint, TV, bed linens, and pillows but bathroom still has older, maybe original tile, tub, sink, and toilet. It was fine for one... We stayed in a four bedroom that accommodates handicapped guests. Appliances could use an update - but it's a cut above most state parks. Some cabins offer small animal accommodations (for $50 the first night and $5/night thereafter), but not the disabled cabin. Apparently the disabled and the friends who join them are not supposed to have pets along with... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights' stay. Rooms adequate but in need of some TLC. During our stay the "central heating" must have been switched on which made the temperature in the room at night very, uncomfortably, hot. Reception recommended turning on the AC to counter act. Makes no "eco sense". Restaurant service and food were good, although menus rather pricey.
