The cutest little place for a romantic getaway weekend! The room was so cute and the breakfast was phenomenal! I highly recommend this place to anyone. Can’t wait to come back!! It’s in walking distance to all the best places in town, which makes it even better.

We went in for breakfast as a family. The first interaction with the wait staff was her asking if anyone was awake at the table. It just got worse after that. Our orders where completely mixed up and the food that we finally received after over an hour wait was cold. I personally did not get my food. It was forgotten so I gave my order again and it was still wrong. The home fries tasted like they where days old, the bread had a moldy taste and my cup of water had lipstick on it. To make up for the poor service that was completely obvious. I was told I could have a cookie on my way out. I would not reccomend this establishment at all.

I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your breakfast with us, and that our Server's attempt at humor was a failure. Since no attempt to please you was successful while you were here, there is probably nothing I can say now that will help. I can assure anyone reading this that all of our food is very fresh, and cooked to order (which is why there is often a wait on busy weekends, when the town welcomes many tourists). I am happy that others in your 11-person party seemed to enjoy their experience, based on their generosity when they left.

We stayed at Bright Morning for two nights over a long weekend in October and it was a great base for us to explore Dolly Sods, Canaan Valley and Blackwater falls. We especially loved the central location in Davis that allowed us to walk to dinner and drinks instead of taking our car everywhere. We stayed in room #5 (Queen room) and it certainly met our needs. It got chilly outside at night but we were more than warm enough with the extra blanket provided and did not need to turn on the space heater. We loved the top-quality breakfast provided to guests and open to the public, though there was a decent wait on Sunday since the restaurant was slammed. Our one complaint is about the music that plays at the restaurant starting at 7:30 AM. Since it's an old building, we could hear it pretty clearly upstairs. I don't think we would have been able to sleep much later if we had wanted to (we were getting up early to get onto the hiking trails).

Every fall, we rent cabins in various areas of WV. We've made it a tradition to travel to Davis to stay at the Bright Morning Inn on our last day to enjoy the Canaan Valley area we love so much. The new owners of Bright Morning are doing a fantastic job. We were pleasantly surprised by the addition of the cafe that offers pastries and quiche. Our room was clean and fresh, just as we expected, and the breakfast was delicious. I particularly loved the biscuit and gravy. The new owner is hospitable and accomodating, and our young grandson appreciated the coloring page offered at breakfast. My favorite aspect of the inn has been the vintage decor that offers a warm and comfortable ambience, and I was happy to see that feature remains. During our previous visits, we enjoyed the seating area in the lobby in the evening where we relaxed and connected with some of the other guests. Although the cafe is in that area now, guests could still sit at a table there to chat. Being business owners, ourselves, we understand the cafe will be an important and rewarding new element to add interest to this lovely inn. Congrats to the new owners, we will see you next fall!

Arrived at 9:00am. Asked for banana French toast which is on menu. They said they were out of bananas and would not make just the French toast. Food arrived at 10:00. I had to get my own refill if ice tea. My husband did not get a refill of coffee. Food was fair, for taking 1 hour to cook. Very poor service.

I am so sorry that you did not enjoy your breakfast with us, and in particular that you experienced a long wait time. This is something that we have been actively working to improve, through significant updates to our kitchen equipment, and hiring additional staff. But unfortunately, during extremely busy times, when the town has a large influx of tourists, it is still a challenge, as our breakfast is very popular, especially with our recent renovations to the restaurant and additions to the menu. One of the other steps we have taken is that when we are extremely busy, we take the Banana Dream French Toast off of the menu, as it takes an especially long time for the kitchen to prepare (all of our meals are prepared to order). We do have a large variety of other items on our menu, but I'm sorry that your server did not better explain the reason for this menu change. Please know that we continue to try to improve our wait times, and we are continually striving to improve our service, so we very much value your feedback. We have recently opened a cafe, in the entry area to the restaurant, so even when there is a wait for a table, guests may enjoy coffee and freshly baked pastries in the cafe while they wait.
