Canaan Valley Resort was very clean and all the employees were wearing masks; which made us feel safer staying there. Their dining was wonderful, we were always able to sit near a window and watch the deer come out at night. They have a unique gift shop and everyone is very genuine in trying to help you.

Sites not flat leaving steps into camper rather high off the ground. Narrow asphalt parking area leaves no space under awning to set up tables as ground slopes away either up or downhill. Picnic tables provided but down the muddy slope. If it rains( which it did for us) you have to stay inside your camper unless your rocker works on a hill. Trails we walked on were in poor condition. Wooded boardwalks were super slippery when wet. It was safer to walk in the mud instead. With a little effort this could be really nice as the rest of the grounds are well maintained. Staff very nice. Won't camp there again though. They can learn a lot from other RV parks.

My husband and I spent the night here with our grandchildren after hiking up Seneca Rock. We had not stayed at Canaan Valley Lodge since it was refurbished and were anxious to see it. The rooms are spacious and beautifully done, with a combination of stone-look flooring and high quality carpet. The bathroom was also large and nicely finished; the room was also very clean. The Lodge itself is pretty inside, but I think the front entrance is dull and uninspired. The outside pool was closed, so the grandkids enjoyed the small, but very clean and well-kept indoor pool. We had dinner in the main dining room, (though I would have preferred somewhere outside, but that wasn’t an option), which was ok, but agonizingly slow. The gift shop is large and well-stocked with a nice variety of items. If you’re on the area, you will enjoy a night or two at this lovely lodge.

We traveled to Canaan Valley Resort for a weekend of skiing. We found the mountain to be just right for our family. The fresh snow made the conditions great. My kids (ages 12, 10, and 9) ski at an intermediate level for their age and were able to all the green and blue runs on the mountain without any major concerns. We particularly enjoyed skiing Timber Trail as a family. Despite it being a green run, it provided a lengthy run with varying terrain that is perfect for kids. We stayed one night at the Canaan Valley resort and conference center. The room was just right for our family of four. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The kids really enjoyed the swimming pool and the game room. Unfortunately, the spa was out of service so we were unable to take advantage of that amenity. We had a very good meal at the Laurel Lounge. The menu offered adequate selections for both kids and adults. Despite being quite busy, the food came out relatively quickly and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, I highly recommend this Canaan Valley for families with kids. The staff throughout the resort were all very friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to coming back.

Kids wanted something different and slower to switch from ski to snowboard. The resort is clean and well kept. Service is above average. Room was rather large in the Queen Queen Jr suite. They need a whole package not just adult lift tickets for the Stay and Ski package. They have a shuttle to and from the resort, but mostly we shuttled ourselves. Food is a bit of an issue so plan to bring some, especially snacks. Places close early or are not open at all. Rooms have a microwave and fridge. There is nothing super close either. There is pool and hot tub and several game rooms. Would be a fun group trip place. When you call the operator, ask for Joan. She’s got more than a clue and is friendly and helpful. Front desk struggled a little, but was super friendly and tried really hard. Language barrier and our colloquial references just didn’t translate. The beds were about a B rating, maybe a C- decent enough though. Go out into the towns of Davis and Thomas. Cool artists and antique/vintage shops. Remember it’s a state park and you forgive a little more and see how impressive they do with state funding. WTG West Virginia.
