Classic bed and breakfast stay in a charming town. Covid precautions were evident and adhered to. Will recommend to anyone! The Garden View suite was lovely. Having the gas fireplace completed the ambiance and made for a cozy retreat during cold, rainy weather.
From the moment we walked into Donn and Marie's wonderful home, we knew it was more than the average B & B. It is impeccably decorated and kept up, with the heritage of the original owners clearly at the forefront. And if you happen to be a student of the Civil War, eating breakfast in the same room that Generals Grant and Sheridan used to plan the Shenandoah Campaign is quite a bonus. We loved that Donn shared so much of the history of the home and its events and occupants with us. The rooms are just gorgeous, comfortable, very clean, and the amenities, like the afternoon snack and the wonderful front porch with its swing and rockers make you feel very much at home. As do the innkeepers. And the breakfast? One of the BEST we have ever had, anywhere, hands down. Visiting in the fall of 2020 meant being conscious of COVID and cleanliness, and the owners and other guests were on board 100%. We would highly recommend a stay at the Carriage Inn to anyone.…
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to escape from the city to celebrate the end of 2020. We could not have chosen a better place! Marie and Don are extremely personable, warm, and welcoming. Upon arrival, Marie took us on a little tour of the stunning house (she did an excellent job decorating - has wonderful taste!), and gave us a little rundown of the fascinating history of the 1836-built house and its occupants. If you're looking to be COVID-safe, this is the place: There is plenty of room to be socially distanced, everyone wears masks when in common areas, and everything seems very clean. They even schedule breakfast at different times so as to have enough space in the dining room and they let you order takeout and eat there in the evening if you'd like to stay away from restaurants. We loved our stay and most certainly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a cozy yet elegant resting place. The open fire in the bedroom (Garden View room has the best one) and the comfortable bed were definite highlights and well appreciated after a long day's hike in the area. Marie and Don, all the best to you!…
We had a fantastic stay at the Carriage Inn and really appreciated all the little details that made it such a special experience. Marie and Donn were charming, well-informed and very responsive, but it's not the kind of place where the innkeeper will talk your ear off when you're trying to enjoy a relaxing weekend with your significant other. We stayed in the Copper Beech Suite and enjoyed the amenities (mini fridge fully stocked with nonalcoholic beverages, huge clean Jacuzzi tub, robes, high-quality toiletries) plus the bonus of having our delicious breakfast served to us in our room. It's the kind of place where you go asking for paper plates to eat your takeout dinner and instead get proper plates and silverware. We spent our first night exploring Charles Town and the next day in Harper's Ferry. Perfect getaway from the DC area!…
This is a wonderful place to stay near Harper’s Ferry! It’s pristine clean, there is always food and drinks available and the owners give you a special tour of the hotel telling you about its amazing history! Definitely worth the stay!
