We stayed two nights in the Smoke Hole room. The inn lived up to our expectations based on the previous reviews. In addition to breakfast, we had dinner both nights at the inn. The meals were truly gourmet, with fresh ingredients, mainly from Carol & Ed's garden. Ed's chicken & pesto soup was the best soup we have ever had. Since I'm on a low salt diet, I was particularly impressed with Ed's use of fresh herbs to replace salt in his recipes. Our room was quite nice & comfortable. We didn't mind not having a television. We liked the jacuzzi. The shower was a bit small, but functional. I liked the white noise machine - the ocean sound helped me sleep. Ed was very helpful in suggesting places to see & offering directions to get there. The complimentary bottles of water & soda + ice in the refrigerator was quite nice. Lots of special touches. Yummy cookies to greet us when we checked in.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at North Fork Mt. Inn. Definitely add on dinner! Breakfast was fantastic. Ed was very kind and humble and even took the time to talk in full conversation with his guests after cooking the meals. The property was clean and very well maintained. The room was spotless and had a private bathroom. The drive up to the Inn is memorable and scenic. We loved the map room downstairs with games, tv, pool table, pop corn - very nice touch! We enjoyed quality time outside on the porch watching the numerous humming birds while enjoying coffee from the comfy rocking chairs. There were small tables to play cards or place drinks or put a book or magazine. We are very much looking forward to returning! Highly recommend!

Thanks for sharing your experience with potential guests to our Inn. We share your sentiments about our peaceful mountain hideaway. The hummingbirds are always popular this time of year. They will soon begin their migration to South America. We try to make sure they are ready for this long journey. We look forward to your return.

We always stay at Select Registry properties when we travel and the North Fork Mountain Inn delivered a great experience. Everything from the comfortable bed and linens, to the excellent food was exceeded only by the gracious hospitality of Ed and Carol. Their warmth and friendly manner made us feel comfortable and appreciated. The food was amazing. The beauty of the mountains and nearby forest was peaceful and made relaxing on the front porch in the rockers a perfect way to find my happy place. The hummingbirds were mesmerizing. There is a lot to do in the area from fishing, hiking, caverns, and sightseeing at Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks, and Spruce Knob. There are not many good dining options in this remote mountain hideaway so we suggest having dinner at the Inn. The gourmet breakfast included three courses. They started with a fresh baked pastry, followed by a fruit plate with an exquisite yogurt topping, and then Eggs Benedict. We would highly recommend the North Fork Mountain Inn for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

We've never heard of the Select Registry until we stayed here. This place is well deserving of the distinguished honor. It's a beautiful setting, with beautiful rooms, and outstanding amenities. We had dinner here both nights. Ed is a phenomenal cook, and a wonderful host. The atmosphere is one of the friendliest of any inn in which we've ever stayed. Breakfast every morning was wonderful and the dinners Ed prepared were fantastic. If you stay here, you MUST stay for dinner!

Randy thanks for your wonderful review. I am grateful that you enjoyed your stay, especially the food. We put a lot of love and effort into all our dishes. It is our secret ingredient. It was nice getting to know you. Hearing about your international travels and assignments made for great conversation. We welcome you back anytime. Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your grandson. Being grandparents is one of our favorite jobs at the Inn. It is the highlight of the Summer when they come to help.

High up in the wilds of WV is North Fork Inn, an extraordinary place with commanding mountain views, serenity and serious privacy. Rustic in design, the pine paneled walls and stone fireplaces set the tone for complete relaxation. Innkeepers Ed and Carol are true “hospitalitarians” with caring and attentive service. Ed is a terrific chef and offers a quality dining experience. The high- level comfort food cuisine with excellent wines pair well with the laidback setting. And Carol’s homemade desserts are to die for! North Fork Inn is a little slice of heaven on earth. Our three day experience was not enough, but we left refreshed and enlightened. Both the Tesla and our tired bodies got a serious re-charge!

Thanks for your kind words and great review. Your leadership at Select Registry and experience as a Four-time B&B owner that ranked in the Top 25 Trip Advisor Award Winning Inn's in the USA gives Carol and I a great sense of satisfaction that we are doing the right things. We were grateful for the time you spent talking with us about the high expectations that Select Registry guests have and how you delivered great guest experiences. We welcome you back anytime as we feel closely connected to you and Wyn. You are like family to us. We look forward to your next visit.

I found this bed and breakfast as I was looking for a weekend getaway for my boyfriend and I. Never did I think I would enjoy myself as much as I did. The owners were so thoughtful and Ed is a marvelous chef. The food was gourmet and the room was super clean with comfy beds and incredible views of the mountains. The best part, however, was the incredible company we shared our weekend with. That was the best part of the whole trip. The inn is secluded in the mountains; thus it’s away from loud noise and busy roads. You can see the stars so clearly. It is located close to so many hiking trails and big sites, such as Seneca Rocks, Smoke Hole caverns, Spruce Knob, Blackwater Falls, and the cool towns of Davis and Thomas. I highly recommend staying here. Plan for outdoor adventures and new friends.

We had a great visit as always with Ed's delicious meals that I look forward to. Thank you Carol for going the extra with my step daughters cake, excellent job. This inn attracts people that are friendly easy to talk to, like the inn keepers. The view at this time of year was gorgeous, spring time green, even with the occasional rain. We will be back, soon hopefully.

We loved North Fork Mountain Inn and the astounding views it offered. Ed and Carol are both great cooks, so we enjoyed our dinners and breakfasts there. I take issue with some of the negative reviews, however. After we arrived we never left the mountain - and I would suggest others do the same. It was wonderful being away from the hustle and bustle of traveling and just sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery all around you. Lots of birds (including hummingbirds) which were fun to watch. We liked the hot tub and wasn't dirty in the slightest. Our room (North Fork Mountain Room) was great - right on the main floor. We'd like to stay in the Eagles Nest if we visit again. Both Ed and Carol were very hospitable and accommodating. So if you can't relax and "smell the roses" in this extraordinary place maybe it's not for you.

We stayed in the Eagles Nest room and enjoyed our visit. There is a balcony with a good view of the mountains. It’s a rustic place, and if you want somewhere quiet and isolated, this fits the bill. Once we drove up the winding road from the main road, we weren’t going back down until we left! We hiked and read and decompressed. Ed is a personable and responsive host, and the food was very very good (we had all our meals at the inn).

Great place, delicious food and fantastic hospitality! As we experienced problems with our car in a way that we couldn't get back to DC on the day we wanted, our hosts Carol and Ed were extremely helpful. They extended our stay for a night, offered us a ride to the next car rental ( an hour away) and cooked dinner for us. It has been our third time at North Folk Mountain Inn and we always enjoyed it a lot. Elke

But it was a delight having you stay with us for the third time. We hope you will enjoy using your personalized, customized hiking sticks, our gift on your third stay.
