My boyfriend and I have stayed at this wonderful Inn four times. We love the stunning views at this remote location and the great hospitality that we always receive. Davis is absolutely exceptional and he is very attentive to any of our needs.
We love the beautiful countryside and we feel relaxed and do not want to leave.

In the past I always used trip advisor to read the reviews for the physical aspect of the facilities amenities and the ratings. Our visit to North Fork Mountain Inn made me aware of the inn keepers personal labors of love and compassion for their guests and the world in which we live. Ed and Carol Fischer and Davis are the best representation of the North Fork Mountain Inn hospitality and commitment to excellence.

We stayed three nights in early February and had the place to ourselves. The innkeepers agreed to serve us dinner each night even though it wasn't over a Saturday night and it was great! A nice hike is right out the front door up to a ridge with awesome views. Other hikes are an easy and beautiful drive away. We hiked up Seneca Rocks and drove up to Spruce Knob. The front porch of the inn looked very nice for hanging out when the weather is warmer. Very comfortable beds and enjoyed the Jacuzzi in our room as well as the bottled water. Hope to return soon!

Really nice view and setting. The breakfast was really tasty. It has a very homey feeling. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated that there was a ceiling fan in the room. We have stayed at many B&B's so based on my comparison and the amount we spent I would make a few suggestions. First I think more detail needs to go into dusting the bedrooms and cleaning the molding and trim. The shower in our bathroom was quite tiny, and luckily we are small people. The shower head could not be adjusted any further down and therefore was spraying us in the face as we showered. It was awkward. Our room didn't seem to cool very well. The AC was on and the hall thermostat said it was set below 70 but our room was definitely way warmer than that. We stayed for one night and it wasn't worth switching rooms since we didn't realize it until we were going to sleep. We checked in in the evening. The deck near the hot tub could use some sprucing up. There was a hole in the deck where it had rotted. Plant clippings were laying on the deck and the hose was unraveled just laying in the middle of the deck. One of the rocking chairs was broken and two were being used by very large stuffed (and dusty) teddy bears. So, while I'm sorry to mention these critical things I think that more detail and care needs to go into the upkeep and cleanliness. Especially consider we spent as much as we did to stay there. But, the food was really great and we enjoyed really nice conversation with the other guests.

Thanks for taking the time to share the housekeeping suggestions. We have make all the suggested updates and hope you can return to enjoy the transformation. The bears have been given their Autumn bath and cleaning and we have replaced the rocking chairs on the decks. The AC has been serviced with Freon added. Thanks again for pointing out the details of the needed improvements. We take pride in our 5 Star People's Choice Award that we have received for the last 6 years in a row. The weekend we came, the meals (two dinners, lunch sandwiches and breakfast) were really mediocre at best. They were not anything close to the gourmet meals with stories and explanations we had 10 years ago. Even the lunches, they could have been made at a fancy bakery/deli 10 years ago, but this time they simply used sandwich bread and they didn't even bother to put tomato slices, the wedges just slid right out. We stayed in a suite where the toilet is literally in the same room as the bed, so gross. The online pics never revealed this feature, or we wouldn't have booked it. There is a pullout couch on the loft that was very springy and uncomfortable, so if you're booking accommodations for more than 2, bring an air mattress. Everything else about the place is lovely though, it's such a pretty location, just like we remembered it 10 years ago, and we loved seeing the wildlife and stars. I just wish this time they had better food, better meal experience, and a wall between the bathroom and the bedroom.

After staying in close to 200 Inn's/B&B's around the world, this Inn rates in the bottom 5 for hospitality as owners were indifferent, overwhelmed (full house), and Ed was border line unpleasant. (You can PM me for details if interested)

During our two night stay not once either owner showed any interest in our experience in their place.

As its been mentioned by others, the view is very nice from the deck and the Inn is in the quite, secluded area. Spotty Wi-Fi, no cell phone connection.

Our room was good and clean with comfortable bed. (I would suggest a step stool as the bed was a touch too high).

"Gourmet" food unfortunately can not be called Gourmet or even good.

It appears that lack of taste was masked by extra sweetness in breakfast baked items or a lot of hot spice in eggs, etc. We've stopped for breakfast elsewhere on the way to day trip(s).

Willing to give second chance and thinking it was just an odd day for the owners, we made a mistake by having another dinner.

Our meal was way overpriced for a small plate of soup and tough piece of chicken with a spicy sauce that few guests including myself had to scrape off.
For another dinner, we were served small piece of tilapia (which was good) but served with an over spiced rice.

Neither dinner was worth the price. You are being charged for convenience of not driving about half hour each way to nearest restaurant and then driving ("climbing") narrow winding driveway in the dark.

I would recommend this place only for an overnight stay if you exploring the area and want just a decent bed not minding a high price tag.

This is one of the very few places we have visited in the last 20 or so years that we would not consider returning to.

I am sorry that your perception did not meet your expectations. We strive to give all of our guests' exceptional experiences. Our award-winning chef works hard to prepare high quality meals and we take exception with your comments. We use only the finest ingredients and receive rave reviews from most of our guests. It is true that there is no cell service in this area as is common in rural areas like ours. We have only one option available for internet/WiFi service which is satellite broadband which can be limited by poor weather conditions.

My husband, my 2 dogs, and I had such a great and peaceful time at North Fork Mountain Inn. Ed and Carol were such welcoming hosts, and the food was always fantastic! They were so accommodating to our wants and needs. They even revealed the gender of our firstborn to us at our dinner, which was a request I had made. My experience was just perfect... There are hiking trails that are accessible from the Inn and road leading to the Inn. Our Hideaway cabin had no wifi, which is perfect for me since my husband was forced to spend time off his phone/laptop and just be present in the moment with me and the boys. The main cabin had wifi so that we could catch up on work-related calls/emails when we wanted to (often did this when our complimentary breakfast was served). And did I mention how awesome of a cook Ed is? Everything was just perfect, and I will definitely be revisiting!

Absolutely one of the best times we've had. Very nice and clean estate. Rooms are excellent and well cared for. We had the Spruce Knob room I believe. Ed and Carol are so engaging and caring. They welcomed us by our name! LOVED the home cooked dinner with wine that was selected by Ed (We still buy that wine today), and all the homemade goodies like the bread and cookies.

The views are breathtaking, we went in Sept/Oct and the colors were magnificent. There are trails and hikes, water features and caves...all nearby. You can walk around the property, but do need a car for the rest.

The rooms have all the necessities and well done cabin decor. One of the best night's sleep in a LONG time. Comfortable beds and couches. Plus on colder nights, there are always extra blankets and throws around the home for you to use, even sitting outdoors.

Absolutely the place to go to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate! Can't wait to go back! (Our trip was back before 2019, and we're still talking about it to all our friends and family).

The inn itself was beautiful. The view of the mountains were breath taking. The room was very clean. Our welcoming was strange. We were welcomed by someone who initially told us he didn’t work there but then said he would show us to our room. It was very confusing. We later realized he did work there. (We never did meet Ed and Carol) When we took a bath/shower the water smelled like sulfur. We then got into the hot tub but it was very dirty. With COVID going on I think it’s absurd the hot tub wasn’t cleaned. The WiFi also was very slow to the point where you couldn’t load directions. There was also no cell service at the inn which isn’t a problem but I feel like guests should know that before hand. It’s a beautiful place with potential but some updates/cleaning needs to be done.

I am sorry that your experience was disappointing. We have made many changes since your visit. We have installed a new water softener which has solved the problem of the sulfur smell. We have drained and cleaned the hot tub and have a weekly inspection including checking the chemical balance. Because of our remote location there is no cell service and we can only get satellite broadband with maximum download speeds of 50 Mbps but averages more like 15 Mbps. It is also subject to weather conditions. Our new Covid-19 cleaning procedures exceeds the minimum standards set forth by the CDC and other standards based organizations. Carol and I attempt to be here to welcome our guests but also have Davis here to welcome them to our Inn. You will always find that we will respond immediately to any customer issues and wish you would have brought them to our attention when you were here so we could remedy the situation. We hope you will come back and give us another chance to meet or exceed your expectations.

Wonderful property. The hosts are wonderful and warm, nice people who seem to love what they are doing. My room was nice, loved the mattress! Room was clean and nice large bath. To arrive at the lodge its a 10-12 mile ride down a very pleasant paved road. Steep drive is not paved but take it easy and you'll be fine.

Once you arrive at the top of the drive to the lodge its a panoramic mountain view. Very remote and quiet location, miles from anything,

Food was good, served promptly and hot. Both meals were good. Very likely you will eat here. Very good value for the price paid for this very nice property.

Thanks for your interest in staying at our Inn. Yes, the Zip Line at Nelson Rocks is nearby. It's about 15 miles if you go in a straight line, but since you have to follow the roads, it's about an hour. We have several guests who stay with us and go there for either the Zip Line or the Via Ferrata. You can search for Nelson Rocks to find their website. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
