We stayed at the vacation cabin and it was very nice. It was clean with comfy beds and updated appliances. We did hear mice or something making noise in the oven (or in the drawer below) but that's to be expected. They had their own space and we had the rest of the place. We tried to go rent paddle boats but there wasn't anyone there (although the front desk said they were open). We also tried to hike the Laurel trail (green) but we couldn't figure it out and I was worried that we were going to get lost so we did partial then just took the white path back to our cabin. The lodge was closed for renovations but it looks like it's going to be phenomenal. I'd definitely recommend and will return someday!!
While newcomers to the area may pronounce CACAPON with three syllables, old timers, particularly those around when the CCC built the place, pronounce it: CA (long a)-PON Ilike the fowl. So I guess you can choose whom you want to emulate.
Our family visited for a few nights in a cabin. We golfed, hiked, swam, and kayaked. The cabin was renovated. It was fully stocked and nicer than we expected. The lodge is being renovated so the restaurant was not available. There’s a dollar general just outside the park for any forgotten supplies.

Two nights in a lodge room with my kids (8 and 10 years old) and had an absolute blast. We ate well, hiked extensively, played in the rec and game rooms, and left happy. I have read on TripAdvisor that the rooms are small. Sure, they aren't big and if you overpack it'll get tight. Otherwise they are completely fine. I read that the restaurant has bad service. If you expect fine dining, then maybe. It is not fine dining, The restaurant is in a lodge with perfectly good service. Once construction is over, this place will be spectacular. My only criticism - the trail maps/markers are terrible (need to be updated and improved), the game room should NOT have so many broken games (kids love video games). And you need encourage more walking, less driving in the park. And make sure that their are pedestrian paths to get to all activities. I saw lots of people walking on the side roads inside the park and that isn't safe since drivers are going way too fast for those internal park roads.…
