This is a fishing town. It has hard working people working on boats fishing and then selling. There isn’t anything glamorous about this town. Just hard working folks. The Inn was fantastic. Our room was super clean and very nice. We enjoyed walking around looking at the sites. We had burgers and drinks at the Knotty Pine Tavern. The owner and his wife run the local bar. We sat at the bar. If you sit at a stable you have to walk to the bar to order food or drinks. Just the 2 of them running the place. Back to the Inn. We had an actual bedroom that had a little fireplace heater as it was cooler in the evening. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space. Newer vinyl wood flooring. The shower and tub were great. We had a huge window looking towards the ocean. Easy city to walk around. Smells strongly of fish. Local camping was popular. We had a fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. The shower has a heat lamp incase you are cold but it also has a small window if you want fresh air. I highly recommend this inn. I would stay again in a heartbeat.…
Hotel charged 30% when I made the reservation and then charged the remaining 70% of the fee 4 days prior to the reservation (Wed). I asked them to wait until the Friday before our Sunday reservation to charge me and they agreed and told me they “voided” the charge they made on Wed. The charge never dropped off my account. One day before the reservation (Sat), they charged my card again without my consent. My bank said the transaction was “finalized” and there was no record of any refund or void from the merchant for the charge on Wed. Upon arrival (Sunday), the hotel wanted the full fee – AGAIN, because the charge from Saturday was “pending”! I explained the situation, showed them my mobile bank statement with the full fee pending in my bank account. I called my bank, waited on hold an hour, and had the bank rep explain the situation to the front desk – that the fee was finalized on Sat. and would “hard post” to the merchant’s bank on the next business day (Monday). Since the 30% deposit I paid when I made the reservation only covered 70% of the first night’s fee, the front desk made me pay an additional 30% for the first night, even though the entire payment for both nights would post to their account the next day (they said I had an outstanding balance because they refused to understand they never refunded me the money in the first place). So I basically had to over-pay more than the agreed-upon fee for both nights just so they wouldn’t kick us out of our room. It was a shake down. They did not even check their bank account to see if my payment had already posted to their account – they were only looking at their own notes in the computer which were wrong. So they basically required extra money to stay the first night. Now they will have to refund the extra money I paid which will make it unavailable to me for another 5 days until it posts back to my account. We ended up leaving after the first night anyway bc we only got 4 hours of sleep and could not manage another night like that. There were disgusting, large stains on the each of the sheets (thankfully we brought sleeping bags and our own pillows), the beds were so hard and bare to the springs that my back problems were triggered and I was in pain an hour after going to bed. My neck hurt all day the next day. The queen bed was like an old cotton or wool futon after years of compression. The sleeper sofa mattress was 3 inches thick and full of springs. The hotel is VERY noisy – you can hear every movement from every adjoining room – lots of banging around and stomping noises and you can hear everyone talking through the walls. You can literally feel the reverberations from people walking around. The fake wood floors look good but hotels use carpet because it reduces noise. This “Inn” was extremely noisy. You can see the ocean from the 3rd floor window but only if you’re ok leaving the curtain open so everyone walking past your room on the walkway outside can see in your room. If you want natural light you have to leave the curtain open to let everyone see inside your room. The Inn is 3 stories high and we were on the third floor, but somehow we still heard people stomping around on the roof at night. The view to the west and east are of RV parks.…
Overall the location of this property is wonderful. You don't need a car for anything withing the marina area of Westport. A short walk (located across the street from public parking) to the fishing charter boats. This property is dog friendly and a minute walk to the beach. The cottage worked well with our dog. However, there isn't much room for a crate in the cottage, so we had to temporarily move some furniture to make it fit. We stayed as a couple, but friends joined us on the last night for a fishing trip the next morning. The bed configuration worked well for this. Be aware, the bed is very uncomfortable. Would we stay here again? Probably. A few things could make this much better: update mattresses, change your check out time to early afternoon to accommodate the return of the fishing boats, light bulbs burnt out everywhere, poop bags for dogs, but no trash bins, more parking for the cottages (especially around the corners). Overall a great location and loved the cottage. …
The room itself was fine but the walls and floor are so paper thin it never quiets down!!!!!!! The beds are so old and soft just not a good stay!!! It was clean, had coffee pot, fridge and microwave. The door wont open fully due to the bed being in way.
In a time crunch to find a place to stay, we settled on the 3 bedroom suite here, despite it being way too large for our family. As is probably evident in the pictures on their website, this is not really a hotel room, it's basically an apartment with separate bedrooms, a full kitchen, etc. It's generally clean and in good condition, though no one will mistake it for being 'brand new' (for example, plugs would fall out of electrical jacks, etc.). Our only real complaint is it's location along Nyhus Street. A lot of people with very loud cars and trucks drive past and park nearby in the wee hours (presumably fishermen). That's fine and their work is appreciated, just don't expect quiet if the boats are going out.
This was a great pick of accommodations in Westport! My 3 adult sons and I stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin for our fishing trip.. It was a great time! The cabin was clean, comfortable and plenty of room. A queen bed and 4 bunk beds fit us well. A really nice little kitchen, 2 large wall mounted TVs & 2 electric fireplaces. Although there was no air conditioning, there was one large ceiling fan. We just opened the window and smelled the cool refreshing ocean breeze. A fire ring outside was a nice feature to relax by in the evenings, and the local grocery store sold the wood. Close to everything, it was and easy 4 minute (or so walk) to the piers, shops and charter. A short easy walk to the lighthouse and jetty made for a good location. We are already planning another fishing trip next year and we will definitely stay in one of these cabins again!!…
We stayed in Cabin 12 and at first glance it was very nice! Well not so much! We couldn't turn on more than one light and one very small heater without the breaker blower! The front desk agent didn't seen to care except for coming over 2-3 times to reset breaker. We payed a lot to stay in the cabin overnight, (about 180.00)and literally froze in there all night! Only one light, froze all night and couldn't run tv, because breaker kept blowing. There were no more rooms available there or I would have told them to get us another room. I did ask for a refund so we could stay somewhere else, but they refused. In the morning,I went to talk with front desk and asked for a partial refund, but again they refused! What an awful place to stay with rooms like that and the customer service was lousy!…
My friend and I stayed here one night. As another reviewer stated, no elevators, so dragging suitcases up stairs wasn’t easy. We noted several things wrong with the hotel staff and also via email to the Operations Manager of Frank Hotels. There was one working light in the room, between the beds, lamp on the table didn’t work with the wall switch. The Manager told me sheets were 1000 count, well, ours were so pilled they were like sandpaper. The worst was the hairdryer, which had one working speed...low! Manager said that was all that was needed to be called a “working” hairdryer. Have you ever tried drying your hair on LOW! What a joke, she also told me I should pack my own next time! Well, there won’t be a next time at the Westport Inn! I hope they get things corrected, as will lose customers!…
First, be advised that this is a 3 story property with no elevator. In addition to the hassle of lugging heavy luggage up stairs, the light that was supposed to illuminate the steps to the 2nd floor was burned out making the steps difficult to see. I reported this to the front desk and was told it would be taken care of promptly. It was not. The floors and ceiling are paper thin. Beginning at 3.30 am and continuing until 4.20 am there was a rather loud conversation next door. At 5.20 am there was a noisy departure. Then at 5.45 am activity started in the room above us. For the next 15 minutes we heard every step (and there were many). When their toilet flushed it sounded like it was in our room. If a good night's sleep is important to you, I would not recommend staying here.
Staff was very nice and always helpful. We stayed in Jacuzzi cottage-Loved it! Will defiantly be back this winter if not sooner. We ended up driving 10 minutes to GrayPoint-and drove on beach and relaxed for afternoon-
