I did not think my stay was worth what we paid. From reading other reviews it seems this place used to get much better reviews in the past. I'm going to start with what did not impress me. Early in our stay I was laying on the bed and my husband threw a pair of underwear up at me. These were not mine! He didn't realize that until I yelped when they landed at my feet. Hello! Gross! I included a photo. Also included in photos, you will see bugs on the floor. I sat in a chair to have a snack and use my breast pump. I looked down at the floor and about gagged. The floor was littered with dead bugs. The photos dont capture it will. There were many between the carpet and wall. I couldn't get a shot that showed clearly what you saw with the naked eye. Definitely lost my appetite and didn't enjoy pumping with that in view. The suite was very cute and could have come closer to meeting my expectations sans the bugs. There was also a lot of visible wear and tear like stains on the carpet, plastic hooks unused on the walls (tacky), and scuf marks on the walls. I'm pointing that out because this is a $300 stay. Breakfast was underwhelming. The fruit and cream was tasty. We ordered avocado toast and the blt. The blt was not toasted which I found odd but, ok. The English muffin was barely toasted. The avocado toast was absolutely flavorless. I ate it all because I needed to eat. The potatoes were Luke warm at best. I ordered sausage and was given bacon. While eating this meal I was so relieved I had canceled our dinner reservations from the night before. If I had paid $100 per person for food that tasted like breakfast I would have cried! Not impressed at all. What went well... The bath in the room was great. I used it twice. The wake up service pastry was delicious! I guess that set a standard for the rest of the breakfast.. The service staff were nice. The view is lovely. I'm sure it's amazing when it's all green. Overall, we weren't blown away due to the parts that were unsatisfactory. I kept thinking of Gordon Ramsay's hotel makeover show and what he might say about the bad parts. I think we would agree with my opinions.…
We had a poor experience at the Cameo Height Restaurant. We had gone to the restaurant twice in pre-Covid times and had enjoyed really good dining. The $89 prix fixe menu is overpriced for average quality food doled out in small servings. (In addition -- pet peeve warning! -- we were told we had to choose our desserts at the beginning of the meal, cafeteria style. How do you know what you will feel like eating at the end of the meal?) To accompany the meal we could only order two types of wine by the glass -- a cabernet franc and a chardonnay. Woe to those who want a choice. It seems irresponsible to push people to purchase bottles when the restaurant is so isolated that you have to drive a distance (from Walla Walla, say, or the Tri Cities) to get to it. The IPA was served in a frozen glass but the beer itself was too warm. As for the food, the bread was very good. For the first appetizer, a dollop of smoked salmon in a thick slice of cucumber was an underwhelming presentation and it had no distinctive taste. The teacup of cauliflower and cheddar soup was okay but pretty basic pairing for a high-class menu. The roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer was good, but not innovative since most restaurants offer it these days. The ahi tuna for main course was not a poor cut -- it was overcooked with a large piece of gristle/tendon in it. The tuna was accompanied by over-roasted broccoli, some leaves of red cabbage and white rice, none of which exceeded home cooking standards. The duck main course was good. The pre-ordered desserts, a dry flan and a jalapeno cheesecake were respectively tasteless and a horrible pairing when they finally arrived. We ordered the flan because it was described as being served "with fruit" but this consisted of a garnish of two blueberries and two raspberries. After a taste of each, I could not eat either dessert but my husband was still hungry after this supposed multi-course meal and ate the strange cheesecake but not the flan. Finally, our waitress was slow and inattentive throughout the meal. In addition, when the inedible (to me) desserts arrived, she challenged my husband when he reminded her that this was a birthday occasion. He had mentioned this when making the reservation. Instead of apologizing for the oversight, the waitress told us that she had seen the note about this, but since some people often did not want to draw attention to their birthdays she hadn't said anything. Astounding! She made no attempt to correct the error or notice that the desserts were a resounding failure. It's a far cry from high end restaurants we have been to where special occasions are marked by the chef in various ways, on one occasion that I shall never forget by a handwritten note. Do not go here for fine dining and service, and certainly not if you want to celebrate a special occasion. …
sadly I watched a video of this property which the previous owners had done so my expectations were high especially as I choose this pricey accommodation due to the following day was my husbands very special birthday --on arrival at our correct timing no one was on thee front desk to greet us--we called out hello several times but no one appeared so I ventured down a corridor & found someone ---this gentleman then went to an office right by the front door --& then a man appeared who I never thought was the Innkeeper due to lack of a dress code --- we gave our name & his reply was 'keys in the door 'pointing up the stairs behind him ----so this was not a good start --(-bedroom was like previous owners photos )we were informed later on in the evening that the Innkeeper had not had a hair cut for 8 months ( something no guests ever wishes to hear but when he said this it was like he was bragging )---the high light though was the breakfast chef Chris he was a delight even gave me hints on how he cooked such a perfect bacon omelette & the young lady server made sure I had plenty of english breakfast tea --- …
Me and my husband celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here and it was absolutely one of our favorite getaways ever. Every single part of our stay was really really special and magical. The food was beyond amazing. I’m still full lol. The chef is really really talented. We got a couples massage and also decided to try their seven course dinner meal. If you are going, you definitely need to do the couples massage and also the dinner. We watched a movie downstairs in their movie room and they basically had everything we needed. Our room was the German themed room and it was really really neat and interesting! The Jacuzzi tub was awesome! Every morning at 8 o’clock they deliver you coffee and danishes. Then you go to breakfast at nine! And the wine is absolutely spectacular in the evening. If you were wanting to reconnect with your significant other… Don’t hesitate to take a weekend away here. We can’t wait to go back in the spring or summer. It’s definitely a hidden gem! 🍷🫶🏻💖…
Excellent experience for my wife and I staying at Cameo Heights. Meticulous detail in terms of room comfort and quality, service from both the lodging staff as well as the Vine restaurant. Received much needed rest and pampering. It was fun to watch the snow fall outside the windows with the warmth of the fireplace in our room. The owner Larry, personally connected with us to ensure our stay was top notch. There is a movie room, ping pong, pool, jacuzzi, numerous games, snacks, and things to do on property.
This is our favorite place to go for a few days away. Beautiful location, excellent amenities, staff is the best - any place else we go is always compared to Cameo Heights. We will continue to return and make most vacation plans with a stop here.
I recently recalled with very fond memories of an unexpected stay at the Cameo Heights a dozen years ago in June 2010. My boyfriend and I were on a cross county bicycle tour the summer after graduating from University. This was before either of us had a smart phone, so we relied on paper maps and general directions to guide us. The heat of eastern Washington hit us unexpectedly and we ran out of drinking water along Route 12. We turned onto Oasis Rd not knowing what we would find but hoping that a business or private residence would help us fill our water bottles. We definitely did not expect to come across a beautiful mansion. We were sweaty, filthy, disoriented and disheveled. We were greeted so kindly and invited in for water and a cool place to sit. The owners had other guests but were absolutely accommodating to us unexpected weary travelers. We inquired about the possibility of staying the night and pricing. Clearly we weren't in a position to pay their going rate, but instead of pricing us out, they let us offer what we could and they treated us like absolute royalty. Everything was absolutely perfect. From the plush room to the amazing dinner, coffee and pastries served at our door in the morning, every detail- truly amazing. I will never forget their kindness, hospitality or our very luxurious and refreshing stay. We hopped on our bicycles the next day, ready to keep pedaling across the country.…
Lovely B&B. Generous, thoughtful and surprising services from an eager-to-please staff. We stayed in the Italian suite and our friends in the Spanish suite. Both were tastefully decorated, great room amenities, comfortable bed and heat/air.
We decide to celebrate our 15th Anniversary at Cameo Heights Mansion, I ordered Happy Anniversary suite package for $238 to make our Anniversary a little bit more memorable and special, and let me tell you, I was embarrassed when we arrived! It was cheap and did not worth nearly $238 dollars. I wish I brought my own decor from home! Lesson learned for us. So if you are reading this do NOT add anything extra or you will be just as disappointed like we were. Otherwise, the food and room itself was good!
My family and I attended a small wedding at Cameo Heights. Pros: Cameo Heights is absolutely gorgeous (besides the long driveway leading up to the mansion— it’s not taken care of and so It did not leave a good first impression for a 5-star luxury resort). Our friends’ wedding was gorgeous with a great view. We didn’t see any rooms, but their theater room is huge and pool area looks very relaxing and nice (we weren’t allowed to swim). Their grounds are well-kept. While waiting for it to start, we were offered a nice selection of hors d'oeuvres which were very tasty. Cons: Our experience and what My 2-stars are based upon: As we had arrived, we were greeted by their wedding coordinator (she was very nice and professional), as well as who we now know was Stacy, the new owner. Stacy was dressed very unprofessional for a wedding (and for a high-end resort owner); she was wearing jean shorts and a causal shirt. After pictures, there were only a few of us and Stacy came downstairs, and at first was just awkwardly watching us. Then, suddenly she started (almost literally) shoving us out! We were all quite confused as we didn’t know if there was more, or what we were supposed to be doing. Finally as one of the parents were gathering all their kids’ wedding clothes, Stacy, very rudely, yelled, “EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET OUT NOW! THIS PARTY IS OVER!” The bride and bridemaids had gone upstairs and the groom was looking for his sons’ bag for us to take for the week. Finally everyone else had been shoved outside but I was still just standing there waiting for the groom to bring the bag, and so I tried to be nice and make some friendly conversation, and also asked if there was anything I could do to help? She ignored anything but finally yelled at me too and said “NO! JUST GET OUT! I SAID THIS PARTY IS OVER!” I tried to explain again that everyone else is outside already and I can’t leave without the bag, so she then said, “JUST GET OUT! ! I’LL BRING THE BAG!” (She shoved us out the back door and wouldn’t even let us go out the front door). I then tried telling her that one of the little girls still down here is the bridesmaids daughter and her mom is upstairs. She then yelled at me, “YES, I KNOW!” And grabbed the girls’ arm to take her back inside! It would have been semi-understandable had there been another party or something after us, but nope. She simply just wanted us gone, claiming we were “too loud” (yet, clearly I was just standing there [quietly] by myself after everyone else had left). Overall: Needless to say, this review is because of how the owner treated us at the end (as well as her unprofessional appearance). I am very sad to of been given this experience because I was actually looking forward to booking a room for my husbands birthday. But unfortunately I will no longer be doing that. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my friend paid a lot of money for her guests to be treated this way (apparently the wedding party was also treated in this same manner), so I just want those who are looking to book events at Cameo to be aware. I am also sad to say that apparently this is not out of the norm. Apparently a lot of staff has recently quit since the new owners have taken over because she is like this to everyone. I truly hope that she changes because Cameo is a beautiful resort.…
