This is a lakeside gem with housekeeping units as well as full hookup campsites. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and all with a lake view. The campsites are situated in a park-like setting, in amongst grass and trees. There are eight campsites lakeside that are out in the open but have a beautiful view and immediate access to the lake. We have a small store with some simple groceries, soda, ice cream, ice, beer and wine, and fishing tackle. Boats are available for rent. A basic 12 ft aluminum row boat with or without motor, as well as pedal boats, kayaks and stand up paddle boards. The resort has a heated pool, play area, horseshoes, volleyball and other equipment available to use at no charge. A dock lakeside provides a good spot to fish, leave your boat or swim. We have been host to small family gatherings, weddings, group events, etc. There truly is something for everyone.

First of all, my in-laws made a reservation for a specific lot weeks ago and upon arrival, with two unhappy screaming children in the car, we were advised that they had given away our lot to another person. I won't even list the reason why because it was so bunk. To top it off, the neighbours we had booked their lot ONE YEAR in advance with a confirmation three months ago and they also had their lot "given away." Is the lake nice here? - yes but we will never come here again or recommend it because there are plenty of other beautiful lakes to visit. In addition, they only empty out the garbage here on Monday and Friday which, during a busy summer season, is not sufficient. We have had to deal with overflowing garbage receptacles which have attracted a ton of flies. We will certainly not return, nor will our neighbours.We are very sorry when the experience at Spectacle Lake Resort is not satisfactory. We try very hard to accommodate everyone and at times it becomes necessary to rearrange campsites or motel rooms to better accommodate all. We did not "give away" a reservation. These folks would have been met with an alternate site or room. - nautwerks64 contributionsGreat fishing getawayThe owners are wonderful people. Bryce and Teri treat you like you are family. The cabins are perfect for a fishing getaway. Just want to emphasize that these accomidations are NOT fancy by any stretch of the imagination but they are nice, clean, rustic cabins. They have a full compliment of utensils and cooking implements, a gas range/oven, and a fridge and freezer combo. There is a nice common area between the cabins and the lakefront along with fire pits, picnic table and barbeque's. There is a nice doc to either tie up to or fish off of. The main office is also a small general store though if you cannot find what you want, Tonasket is only a 15 minute drive to a larger selection. The campsites and RV spots are also great! This is a nice quiet area and if you enjoy hiking, biking, fishing hunting or just kicking back and relaxing then this place is awesome. The rooms do not have tv's or room phones though I think they were talking about putting in wireless access for customers but what this places lacks in modern amenities it has lots of character and is great foir just getting away.Date of stay: May 2008Written October 6, 2008

Quite disappointing. Service: manager (male) was indifferent to us. Granted he is probably not an outgoing person, but when we as guests smiled and greeted him first, a reluctant “Good morning” reply without a smile, is not a proper hotelier’s response. Hardware: The cabins are worn. The plastic hamper in my room was split on several sides. Better not to have it, as it is not a motel or hotel requirement. Not smart. The nights are cold in Tonasket. The very thin polyester blanket was not enough to keep warm. Even the same thin second blanket was not enough. We booked two rooms. I brought my own duvet, so I gave both of the blankets in my room to my buddy who stayed next door. Come on. Most guests want more comfort, even if charged more.

Family has been going there for over 40 years. Lots of great memories there. 3rd generation coming back now almost every summer. Quiet lake up in the hills above Tonasket, WA. Rustic but clean Built back in the 1950s and hasn't changed much. Some cabins have AC. Great camping areas with covered picnic seating. Cabins right on the water. Meet new friends every year. Good trout fishing early in the season. Just sit back and relax, with cell service with most carriers, if needed. Wi-Fi available.

NEVER NEVER will we stay here again. NO SLEEP, NO ROOM. After 30 years of camping, last weekend was the worst we have experienced. A group of over 30 people partying till 12.45am, after phoning owners at 11.30pm the noise and language continued. No room between units or tents. People walking inches away from our unit. Children were better behave than adults. BE WARNED if you want a quite weekend don't stay here.

This resort has a special place in my family's hearts. It is not fancy, but it is clean, comfortable, and in a beautiful location. We've come here for a few years with our extended family. We have lots of kids when we all get together and they love playing in the lake, fishing, boating, using the pool, and sleeping over in each other's cabins. One year our kids were also lucky enough to go on a vacation to disneyland. When asked about their favorite vacation that year they said Spectacle Lake! Now, as a side note. If you are an adult thinking this is a "resort" experience, I would advise you to think more along the lines of very comfortable camping. The cabins are older, but very functional. The geese sometimes make a bit of a mess. Overall though, it is a great place to make lasting memories.…

My husband and I have been going to Spectacle Lake resort for the last 5 years. We come down from BC specifically to stay here because you can almost always get a spot, even when it's jam packed back here at home during the summer. We meet annually with a group of friends we have made over the years who have collectively been going to Spectacle for 25+ years. This spot is lovely. It's vintage and despite what others have said about it, it's damn clean. It's a campsite for Pete's sake....with a functioning indoor bathroom, a shower house, trailers to be rented, motels rooms that look onto the lake, great fishing, two fully covered cook sheds and a pool. And two of the nicest people you could ever meet running it by themselves. The lake has amazing fishing and when you sit there at night, you can see stars in the sky and it's peaceful and quiet. It's everything that "getting away from it all" means. Personally, I would choose Spectacle Lake over most other places - its exactly what a family run/motivated resort should be....the giggles I hear from the kids in the pool, the smell of fish caught in the lake frying in pans and the fact that it is full every time we go tell me it's the place to go. My family has been going to Spectacle Lake Resort for over 10 years. It is truly a great resort for a relaxing get away type of vacation. It's a place where it actually feels like time slows down - much needed in today's world. Each year we look forward to spending summer days at the lake resort during which we swim, float, go boating and fishing (and catching!), playing card games, reading and napping. During our week there, we spend time and share amazing meals with wonderful friends who we actually met during our first visit to the resort over 10 years ago and whose friendship we treasure as they feel much like family now. The motel/cabin rooms are just the right size and since it is a resort built in the 1950s (with some updates), it is refreshing to step back into time when things were simpler. The owners have always been welcoming and sincerely want to make your stay enjoyable. The support staff (outside/grounds and inside/rooms) are all friendly as well and a pleasure to talk to. This is the perfect place for families to spend time together outside as there is much to do (beach, playground, swimming pool, boats to rent, paddleboards, etc). It's also a great place to "disconnect" from the fast pace of the world. It's a special place and we greatly appreciate being able to vacation there each year.…

A very quiet and pleasant retreat located on a small lake in a valley west of Tonasket. Clean rooms, nice pool, friendly staff, and ample open space to walk and hike and swim. Sort of retro ambiance. Great views, access to town is 20 minutes.

We had a campsite right on the lake that accommodated our 31’ travel trailer. The lake was warm and clear, the grounds well kept, and the hosts very friendly. The pool is a decent size. The wifi was spotty and slow. We would definitely go back!

This is a type of place that is rustic and needs to be fixed up. Our room in the motel did not have air conditioning and was very hot when it reached 99 degrees outside, the second day was cooler. The beds where usable in the rustic sense. I would recommend this place for a family gathering but need a boat to get on the lake. They do have boat rentals there, Nearest restaurant is in Tonaska Wa.

We strive to offer the best experience possible. We are also maintaining a resort built in the 1950's and this can be a challenge physically and financially. We have 8 of our 16 units air conditioned. The remaining 8 are supplied with fans to help on our hotter days. Our rooms are rustic but well maintained and we monitor bed quality regularly and replace worn mattresses when necessary. We rarely get a mattress complaint but do pay close attention when we do. Shore/dock fishing can be good right up through the end of June. This will be dependent on water temperature, of course, because the trout love the cooler water and go deeper as it warms up. Hopefully, this guest enjoyed his stay despite the heat !
