We messed up on dates and ended up having to book here at the last minute. Our fault so we paid up the $600 charge for one night. I know we’re crazy. It included free continental breakfast which ended at 10am even on the weekend. So we missed that and paid for breakfast. At reception they’d obviously heard that complaint before so it was greeted with a shrug. A week after we left another charge appeared on our credit card -$4 for a bottle of water we assumed was free. Surely to goodness some idiot paying over $700 for one night bed and breakfast should get one bottle of water. Apparently not.

We had reserved a wheelchair accessible room. On arrival at 7p.m. and inspecting the room we found that it did not meet the standards of accessibility required by ADA. Simply put, there was insufficient space between the corner of the bed and the wall for me to gain access in to the room. In addition, due to the bed being over 30” in height, it would have been impossible for me to transfer onto the bed. After inspecting several rooms, they finally showed us a room with a bed at the correct height, but this room was unavailable due to maintenance. As a result, with no accessible room available we had to go to another hotel. They have refunded our money and were apologetic.

We stayed for one night for a concert at the Tacoma Dome. Conveniently located, clean, friendly staff, comfortable beds! My only real complaint was that you had to pay an extra fee ($16) for parking your car there. Who travels to Tacoma and doesn't need a car? Overall it was a good stay. We would stay again.

We made the Murano our base of operations when we were in Tacoma for a wedding, and chose it because of it's location close to the venue, 1625 Historic Tacoma Place. It's a pretty hotel with artwork on each floor from different artists. The public spaces are open and airy. We enjoyed lunch twice at the resturant (have the Croque Madam! Yum! where the service was flawless) and the breakfast on the Club level was good on day one, but, sadly, not availablke on our morning of check-out: we were told the employee who was to work that area had not shown up. It was disappointing as we had a long drive and a tour reservation ahead -- we were counting on that convience (and had paid more for it because of our schedule). No attempt at reconciling it was made by the manager who was standing behind the desk when we checked out and obviously -by his expression- heard us mention it to the clerk. Having worked in upscale hospitality myself, I expected a minimum of an apology and perhaps an offer to get us a cup of coffee for the road...it would have been a graciuos gesture that would have gotten them an excellent rating. Stuff happens with employees - being an example that you care about what happens to your guests might make those employees more dedicated as well.

Thoughtful attentive staff. Impressive glass art work by recognized artists throughout the lobby and on each of the twenty-five floors. Near the Tacoma Glass Museum and some hidden gems for food and drink.
