Lovely historic hotel in the heart of downtown Spokane. Updated inside with creative, unique art and welcoming public spaces. Our room had a very comfortable king bed and lots of space in bathroom and bedroom. We paid for the hotel parking which was close, reasonable and worth it. Very close to restaurants and a bakery/ coffee shop for easy quick breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did not bring our dog but they accept them and do not look the worse for it.

As the oldest hotel in Spokane, one might assume that the Montvale is a little under scale. However it has an uplift of some kind. The entry and upstairs lobby are beautiful. The vintage decor faithfully represents the theater District in which the hotel is located, without being over-the-top. You could invite your friends who weren't staying there but who came to the theater with you, for a cup of tea or a BYO in the excellent lobby. The rooms are well-appointed; bathrooms are large, and all the necessities are provided while also being conscious about saving energy or water. The coffee and tea kiosk just down the hall has excellent teas and good coffee, and sometimes local baked treats. The floor level of the building of the hotel has two good restaurants adjoining, and in the basement is an excellent cellar bar and restaurant. Being so close to the Fox and other theaters makes it particularly valuable, but as well it is within a couple of blocks of the heart of downtown. Many many more restaurants most local, as well as many other larger hotels. I strongly recommend the montvale, and many of Spokane's interesting places to eat and hang out. I hope the current virus situation does not negatively impact the the lovely vibe that Spokane has, and that the Montvale so wonderfully reflects.

Had a delightful time at the Montvale. Staff were gracious and welcoming, room was very comfortable, bathroom was spotless, WiFI worked well and location was perfect. Parking around the corner costs $10/night and there are many restaurants and breweries within close walking distance. Advantageous breakfast discounts. Well worth staying.

Smoked a couple cigarettes outside and instead of littering on the street, I put my cigarette butts in our trash. They charged us 200 dollars for this. If you smoke I don't recommend staying here. I feel like somebody just stole money from me. Feels pretty lame. Other than that we had a nice stay here.

Hi Ryan, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We apologize for any confusion there might have been about our smoking policies. Smoking in this hotel is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to cigarettes, marijuana, electronic cigarettes/vape pens, hookah, incense, etc. Any substance with a strong odor must be properly contained. Any lingering odor from these substances is considered damage to the room and will result in a smoking/damage fee. Due to the overwhelming smell, we were unable to rent the room the following night. Please know this is not a decision that was made lightly. You are welcome to contact us with any questions you may have at Reservations@montvalespokane.com. We wish you all the best, Montvale Management

One night stay. Quick, friendly, and easy check in. Arrived a touch early and had no issues checking in early. Older downtown hotel that has character. Comfortable and clean room. Complimentary muffins, coffee, and tea in the mornings on the 2nd floor in the seating area. Parking was a mere $10.00/night and was right behind the hotel in a gated area. Easy and safe walking to multiple restaurants and breweries. The only problem we had is that as it is an older hotel, the floors creak. The occupants in the room above us decided 5am was the time to wake up and walk around the room all morning. So a full night's rest we did not get. Overall a nice stay, maybe request a room on the 3rd floor if possible.

The Montvale is a good location and value if you just want to park your car in their $10 per day gated lot and walk around downtown.

Perks:
Close to the riverfront for exercise.
Next door to 1st Ave Coffee - which is the best coffee (IMO) in Spokane
Gilded Unicorn downstairs has a speakeasy side room with lovely cocktails, mocktails, excellent food and service.
A very short walk to Bing Crosby Theatre for live music concerts.
My room was massive and the bed comfortable.
the windows double-paned (I think) to control street noise. Only noise I heard was the occasional motorcycle - but it is downtown!

Ok, I haven't stayed anywhere else in Spokane, so I can't say for sure; but the Montvale is wonderful. There are a good variety of pictures on the site that show how unique and charming the hotel itself is. It is clean and offers all the modern amenities you would want (including some additional ones like coffee drinks in the parlor!). The staff were friendly and helpful recommending all sorts of things around town, and there is a convenient, gated parking lot located right behind the hotel itself.
The location is great as you are within walking distance from downtown, Riverfront Park, and a variety of restaurants and breweries (the Gilded Unicorn is the basement of the hotel and is wonderful!).
We had a great stay here, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Spokane.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel last night and wish we wouldn’t have. While I understand that it’s an old (120yrs) but nice building, they have not done anything to ensure a restful stay. We were on the 2nd floor and whoever was staying above us must have been a vampire because we could hear ever single step they made ALL night long. When I addressed this with the employee working the front desk, while checking out, all he could offer was some advice to book an upper floor or get earplugs and/or a fan (on them). Earplugs…really?? No apologies nor any comp for our inconvenience. There’s plenty of other choices to stay in Spokane and I, for one, will not chose this hotel again.

We were looking for a special overnight stay in uptown Spokane, and had called the fancy, well known name first, but they weren’t really welcoming. We then called the Montvale, and we felt welcomed, valued, from the get-go, and it only got better from there. Mandy checked us in and REALLY made us feel like royalty. This property may not get the attention of the four Ds, but the rooms, the layouts, the adjoining bars/restaurants, and more than anything else, the customer service, make it an out of this world. Short version: clean, beautiful, aesthetic, fun, welcoming, Covid aware. Check, check, check, and beyond.

We booked a night in the presidential suite, was a beautiful room, though WAY TOO MUCH perfume smell. At first glance we were both happy with a room amenities parking and everything, we went out for dinner and got back around 10:30. We were through the door maybe 10 minutes and got a call from the front desk about a noise complaint, which was annoying because the door doesn’t latch well on room 307 so I closed it fairly forcefully on my third attempt before it finally latched. After the call from the front desk we said at a speaking, not shouting tone, “F that, I didn’t want to try to close the door three times anymore than they wanted me to” in less than 2 minutes from the call, Andrew from the front desk was up at our door, knocking aggressively, arms crossed behind his back, and not identifying him self as staff. I demanded to know who it was prior to opening our door, at which point he said he was hotel staff. He told us the next room could hear us talking and didn’t appreciate our use of language. I was outraged that the hotel is so lacking privacy that we could be heard talking, or only here our voice, but be able to understand the words we were saying. At that point I said I didn’t really wanted to stay somewhere I cannot even speak freely. He quickly offered a refund if we would immediately “leave peacefully”. Because apparently my kind are either criminals or savages. So if you are a stuck up white person who is in bed asleep by 8:30 this place is for you, if you are a lesser part of society they don’t want you to stay within their paper thin walls.

Richard, Please be assured that Ruby Hospitality does not discriminate against race, gender, religion, language, political affiliation, sexual orientation, health status, etc. We have strict quiet hours from 10pm-9am, as we are a very small historic hotel. For the sake of other guests, it is the duty of the front desk to address noise complaints promptly and professionally. If guests refuse to cooperate or show any signs of aggression, they are removed from the building for the safety of hotel staff as well as other guests. We wish you all the best, Montvale Management

Yes. They have two lots and give you a pass for your stay duration. I believe it also costs $10 but that is pretty inexpensive considering a lot cost.

I can't say for certain, but I doubt it. There's a place right across from the hospital though, basically within walking distance or a short taxi ride away. Try the The Madison Inn by Riversage - they have a medical rate as well.

The Montvale Hotel will phone the casino for you and make an appointment for you to be picked up. It is based on the availability of the shuttle. I hope this helps!
