The Historic Davenport, Autograph Collection hotel captivates guests with its historical charm and festive atmosphere, particularly during holiday seasons when live music elevates the experience. While the central location is a hit among travelers for its convenience, it comes with the occasional noise disturbance. Reviews show that the staff usually delivers friendly service, though there are reports of occasional delays. The rooms are generally clean and elegant, with some offering impressive views, but a few guests have flagged maintenance and cleanliness issues. Amenities like the renovated bathrooms are often praised, but some visitors miss having in-room conveniences like mini-fridges. Opinions on value are split, with some guests considering the costs high relative to the amenities provided.

I had the most lovely wonderful Christmas experience at the Historic Davenport. It was charming and festive with beautiful decorated trees all over . The staff were polite and professional . Our room was delightfully furnished, even had a warm bathrobe and amazing lotions and shampoos by my most favorite L'Occitanne. I also appreciate that the elevators require a room key to get up to the rooms. Making me feel safe and secure,

Our family of three spent two nights in a standard room at the Historic Davenport and overall had a good stay.

Centrally located in Spokane’s compact downtown, it was just a short 10 minute drive from the airport. Parking was located adjacent to the hotel and was shared with their sister hotel, the Davenport Tower. While parking was included in our AAA rate, for those paying, the current price is $22 a night.

Check in was quick and friendly with the agent going over adjustments due to COVID. In general, most services were available, except for daily housekeeping.

Our 10th floor room was compact, but in good condition, with a pack-and-play for our toddler. The bed was comfortable, internet fast, and the bathroom clean. L’Occitane products were available to use.

While we didn’t have breakfast on-site, we did eat at the Palm Court Grill on our final night. Service was friendly, the lobby seating grand, and the food good. We appreciated that our server proactively placed the order for our toddler as soon as we ordered our drinks.

The only reason we didn’t give the hotel five stars was due to housekeeping. We didn’t mind not having daily service, but were dismayed that the room itself had some trash under the dresser and another persons keycard on the window sill. Moreover, being located outside of the housekeeping door on the floor, we found it frustrating to hear staff shouting loudly in the hallway to one another as our daughter was taking her nap.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is just a few blocks from the train tracks. You can unfortunately hear the trains as they roll through, but to be fair, any hotel downtown is likely to have the same issue.

All told, given the options in Spokane, the Historic Davenport is likely one of your best options.

My wife and I stayed at the Davenport one night in a very nice corner room. They used to have an airport shuttle but was eliminated. There was no microwave, there was a coffee maker. The shampoo was anchored to the shower stall along with the lotion and body gel. The soap was a dispenser on the sink. Lots of big and small towels. The bathroom had a shower and a tub. They had subscribed to Dish Network TV and at the time only had one of the three major networks covered. The channel selection was smaller than most hotels. There was only one vending machine for sodas in the building. Three dollars a bottle and only worked on certain selections. We were with a large group and the hotel was paid to provide a nice breakfast. It was extremely nice. The only restaurant was in the atrium. There was another short service eatery in their sister hotel across the street, but you could only read the menu if you had a cell phone. All of that said the room was good for sleep and it was spacious and clean. The bathroom was large and clean. Lots of space for extra clothes. Our group used a lot of the second floor. The second floor is setup for use by large groups. They have several small to very large rooms available for meeting and activities.

The historic Davenport Hotel is an amazing hotel in that it brings back the times of when service was expected as a normal item to their customers. I can see where the owners are still mindful of those days gone by. I hope that they can survive in these days of rush and hurry and dollar focus.

We stayed 3 nights end of August in a very large corner room on the ninth floor. I believe the rooms saw their last upgrade about 20 years ago, gilded faucets and dark counters. Everything was just worn, but serviceable. It felt and looked very clean.

Given the current world conditions we appreciate everyone working during these challenging times. With that said, the overall feel from the staff was luke warm. From the check in to restaurants. Even got an eye roll from the valet desk asking if I could leave my car in an empty area for about 30 minutes.

Positive:

Clean
Charming property with a history
Great location to walk around
Very comfortable bed (not pillows) but bed
Room was very large, separate living area with wet bar, refrigerator and coffee service, large bathroom with separate tub and huge walk in shower, separate vanity
with dual sinks.

Cons:

Not updated
Parking fee
Staff not very enthusiastic
pillows

Covid 19
No room-service
No house keeping services
Mask everywhere inside the property
No valet or Bellman service

Dear Stampmypassort, Thank you very much for your valuable feedback. Our sincerest apologies you felt as though our staff was not enthusiastic when interacting with them. We strive to go above and beyond for each and every one of our guests, and it seems as though in this instance we failed. I will follow up with our front desk team to ensure this does not happen again in the future. I also would like to apologize for the restrictions on certain amenities due to COVID. Hopefully we will be able to offer all of our amenities in the near future. We would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us during these uncertain times and for your feedback. We've been frequent visitors of the Davenport Hotels over the past fifteen years. It's always been a stellar location every single time. We've hosted many family celebrations there: hoopfest, rehearsal dinners, graduations, birthdays. We came this weekend for a college visit and a concert. The front desk staff was very accommodating and friendly. I totally get that COVID has changed so many aspects of the service industry. It was disappointing to come back after a full day to find that our room had not been serviced. I called housekeeping and the irritated woman on the phone asked me when I had checked in. After I informed her that I had checked in yesterday, she told me that rooms were not serviced until the guest had stayed for THREE days. In other words, don't expect the usual fresh towels, trash emptied, tidied bed linens, vacuum....ie, what you pay for when staying at a premium hotel.

I've stayed in hotels these past several months and have not encountered this lack of service anywhere. In addition, our room service was delivered via paper bag. I just wish the front desk informed us of this "new normal" so we could make informed decisions about how we spend our hard earned money. It's very disappointing to see the Davenport use the COVID excuse for delivery of minimal effort. However, I will say that every single employee was extremely friendly and helpful. It's just so sad to see the corporate Marriott stamp of blah falling over this beautiful Inland Empire gem.

Beautifully maintained old downtown hotel, spotless clean in all corner, full service real deal hotel stay.

Check in was easy treated to an upgrade corner suite, tall ceiling in the room felt like royalty during entire stay.

Clean pool opens early work out room. Excellent spa on site treated myself to relaxing massage after day of travel. No need to leave for meals several restaurants and bars in the building with fantastic food.

Could be one of the nicest hotels in the autograph collection!

Easy walk to mall during day, be careful walking around at night, homeless is huge problem. Also a little quirky on bottled water you get exactly 2 a day and they are 3.00 after that.

While you are there explore the facility it is stunning.

I've stayed at this property countless times in the past 15 years and it's sad to see the service go downhill. Informed at check-in that housekeeping service is not offered due to staffing issues even though the website says it's available upon request. The clerk told me I could "call for towels".
Once in your room it's impossible to get anyone on the phone...not the front desk, restaurants or valet. I had to go across the street for take out after I gave up on room service. It took the valet 35 minutes to retrieve my car. When I finally was able to request some fresh towels, it took 12 hours for them to arrive.
If you intend to shower, eat a meal or access your vehicle, this is not the property for you.

We stayed just one night travelling from Priest Lake and flying home from Spokane, but it was a memorable stay. It is a beautiful, old, historic hotel. Our only disappointment was many of the rooms on the self-guided walking tour were not open due to Covid-19. We did the walk anyway and enjoyed the many old annotated photographs on the walls from the hotel's early century glory days. Our room on the 11th floor was a deluxe king. It was spacious with comfortable arm chairs, footstool, desk, side table, plenty of tech charging ports, a comfy bed and good blackout drapes. The bathroom was large with both a tub and gigantic shower and luxurious L'Occitaine bath products. I was also happy with the closet space and bench for suitcases, as well as the plushy robes and wall safe. Will most definitely recommend to friends and will stay again should we be in Spokane. BTW, the staff was wonderful.....friendly, helpful and accommodating. Be advised, though, because of Covid precautions there are no bell or valet parking services and some of the restaurants are closed. It was a very quiet atmosphere.

Love the 19th Century charm and grace coupled with the 21st century conveniences. The room rate was excellent, and the front desk staff ( Thank you Skye!) handled my mistake with tge booking with speed & grace. 14th floor King room was spotless, with plush towels & crisp clean linens. The shower was roomy, gleaming & hot and the L' Occitaine toiletries took it to spa - level perfection. My husband and I are on a 1 week drive around Washington. Seeing places & things on our "we should go there some day" list, and The Historic Davenport eared Spokane the highest marks and a 2 night stay!

No valet — at all. I realize COVID is the reason, however upon booking it stated valet service. On arrival found out no valet and parking is across the street where you cannot be seen from anyone in the hotel, no attendant, no security nothing, side doors are locked. I really don’t understand how COVID prevents valet as thousands of car dealerships are driving cars each day and no clusters??

The hotel is itself is great, minimal service in the restaurant all vending machines are hidden in the basement, no newspaper at your door.

Zero housekeeping during your stay which was explained at check-in. Microwave available but only paper cups in room that are not microwaveable.

Most everyone at front desk very engaged and helpful, always one in the group that isn’t.

Let’s fix the valet or open up the on-site parking spaces.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you very much for your valuable feedback. Hopefully we will be able to have valet parking available again in the near future. This is something our upper management team decided to restrict to prevent associates from moving from vehicle to vehicle and the possibility of being exposed and transferring it to other guests. We have opened our side doors from 6am to 10pm for the convenience of our guests. We have also updated our housekeeping policy and you are able to request service through the front desk during your stay. However, it does need to be schedule before 2PM for same day service and you do need to be out of your room at the time of service. Kind Regards, Front Office Management
