The Steam Plant Hotel garners appreciation for its prime downtown location, easily accessible attractions, and the secure parking it offers. While the rooms receive compliments for their cleanliness and modern amenities, some guests have experienced transient odors and noise disturbances. The hotel's atmosphere is regularly celebrated for its lively decor and comfort, especially the walk-in showers. Although a basic breakfast and parking fees have been critiqued, many find the hotel offers good value. Service quality is generally high, but guests suggest there is room for improvement.

My first impression was that the rooms were perfectly clean! The bed was made to perfection, the bathroom spotless. Your cleaning staff does a wonderful job!
The front desk employee was very friendly and despite being tired from a long shift, kept a great attitude. was very accommodating and double checked which floor I'd like to stay on, and warned me about the train line right next to the hotel. (I don't mind the sound of trains, but some people do, so that was kind of him)
The bed was normal for a hotel bed, not too soft, not too hard, perfectly good for sleeping. Pillows were comfortable too.
A/C unit did it's job very well, of noisily. I think it woke me up more than the train did.
The free breakfast was fine, nothing special but nothing too chintzy. Nice yogurt, good milk, normal cereal, etc.
Overall, I'd be happy to stay here again if I ever pas through Spokane.

Brian on front desk when checking in was great about answering questions. Dakota when checking out was personable. This is 3 story property with elevator. It does seem a bit dated, perhaps recently remodeled shower, only problem is way door is, hard to turn on water before stepping in. Had dispensers for body wash, shampoo and conditioner, except shampoo one was missing. Breakfast in morning had adequate selection, liked having to use key to access breakfast room. It is right next to a major railway thoroughfare, hotel does offer earplugs in the rooms. Didn’t use but looks like bikes available for use. Parking is additional $5 for limited up top or underground. There are eating places and breweries close by, walked while still light at night and felt comfortable. No judgment but there is a homeless population that you encounter when out around hotel.

The staff was very friendly, but the hotel is located right next to the train tracks, and it was nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep. The hotel provided ear plugs—a laughable solution given the volume of the trains. I stayed at the Steam Plant for five days and not once was my room cleaned, nor its amenities replenished (which, truth-be-told, wasn't the end of the world, because it was easy enough to get coffee from the lobby each morning, but still: not great). Truly the only great part of my stay was that it was so close to great restaurants and event venues; it was very easy to walk anywhere I needed to go.

You made it extremely difficult for my disabled husband to bring his service dog into the hotel and then tried to charge us a pet fee, which is illegal! The beds were not queens as advertised but fulls, and my husband and I could not share the bed. Water pressure in the shower was so low and the amenities were pathetic. Also, you advertise at $88/night, yet somehow we ended up paying $216 for two nights! And we had to pay to park at our own hotel! Not coming back.

While the staff is polite and friendly, housekeeping services were not provided during our 2 night stay. Surfaces were sticky in the room and one bed had the wrong size fitted sheet so it was a mess. If you read on your booking site that they have a game room and arcade, know that they don't. We booked thinking our teens would enjoy that only to learn upon arrival that they don't have it. Also, the hotel itself is more like a motel and has no amenities beyond a continental breakfast and paid parking. They do provide complimentary earplugs as the hotel is next to the train tracks.

First off this hotel is really a motel...which is sometimes ok but in our case meant people talking and stomping around at all hours of the night, we could hear everything through the paper thin walls. The icing on the cake though is the train screaming right outside that will keep you up despite ear plugs and a white noise app. The place was clean but I have no idea how it gets such good stars -if you value your sleep at all do not stay here. The bathroom was nice but there was hardly enough water pressure to take a shower. I felt like a piece of laundry in a high efficiency washing machine. Again the real problem is the noise tough, I thought it was a bad sign they have complimentary ear plugs, like they KNOW you’re going to need them. Lesson learned!

Agrizzlygray, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at our hotel. We appreciate your feedback. We understand the location next to the train is not for everyone, and we offer complimentary earplugs and fans to help limit the disturbance to our light sleepers. The comfort of our guests is most important to us. We are sorry to hear Ruby2 did not meet your expectations. Thank you again for your honesty and all the best to you and yours. Ruby2 Staff

We chose this hotel because of it's location to Riverfront Park. The hotel is a unique looking property. Underground and above ground parking was available for a $5 charge. Check in was easy and staff was courteous. Rooms were clean, although small and beds were comfortable. The only room issue we had was not enough electrical outlets. There are train tracks that run right by the hotel and ear plugs are provided, but we had no problem with the noise. The real issue was breakfast. Everything was a sweet. As a diabetic, there was nothing offered that I could eat. That being said, we would still stay here again if in the area.

Do not stay here. I arrived and upon entering the room there was the smell of musty smoke. There were stains on the bed sheets and stains on the carpet. The room had not been cleaned. I would recommend spending a little more and staying at a place that cares for it's customers and it's own property.

We really enjoy the design of the exterior and the simplicity and aesthetics of the rooms. The hotel is a quick taxi ride from the Amtrak station and has 24-hour staffing at the reception. The bed was quite comfortable and we slept well. Light sleepers may be bothered by the nearby trains, but ear plugs are provided in the room. We highly recommend the Steam Plant Hotel!

Room looked good in the pictures online but overall I would not recommend. Our room had interior doors to adjoining rooms that were poorly fitted and inadequate to dampen sound of other guests. Carpet felt sticky under foot. A/C was horribly loud and was right next to the bed. Did not allow for much sleep. Also, be aware that they also charged $5 per night of parking and $15 to check out one hour later than the 11:00am checkout time.

If you are alone and it is late at night I would take a taxi. If you are not alone walk as I do with my girlfriends late at night and it is always mellow on the streets. At least that has been our experience in Spokane
