I had wanted to visit Mount St. Helens for some time. Finding nearby lodging is a bit of a challenge, especially during the shoulder season when some properties close for the season. I selected The Shepherd’s Inn for its proximity and the amenities described on its web site. Ellen and Richard Berdan have owned and operated their lovely B&B for 28 years. They welcome guests into their home as if we were family or old friends. Rooms are nicely appointed and, as with much of the inn, feature sheep in their decor. I selected the Meadow Room for its semi-private deck. It was quite comfortable and spacious. Breakfasts were a highlight of my visit: a baked pancake filled with a delicious fruit-nut mixture one morning and the signature huckleberry crepes the next. Both were accompanied by a scrumptious egg dish and breakfast meat. In the evening, Ellen treated me to three varieties of Washington apples with caramel sauce. Ellen and Richard were most helpful with suggestions for exploring the Mt. St. Helens area and an attraction en route to my next destination: the Northwest Carriage Museum in Raymond. …
My husband and I stayed here two nights and loved every minute. Richard and Ellen are friendly and wonderful hosts. The breakfast was delicious both mornings. Our first meal featured amazing huckleberry crepes, sausage cooked in apple juice, fruit, croissants, and coffee. The second morning we had veggie omelettes, fruit, toast, ham, and coffee. You won't be disappointed. I am diabetic, and Richard worked with me to serve diabetic-friendly breakfasts, including Splenda-sweetened crepes. I had to pass on other items but my husband throughly enjoyed them! The location was ideal for visiting Mount St. Helen and Mount Ranier. The B&B is in a secluded, quiet area. You may spot a deer or two. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed for a good night's rest. I highly recommend this Inn. …
The Shepard's Inn is conveniently located between Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens. It was the perfect stopping off point. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was sooooo good! Must try the huckleberry crepes and Ellen's homemade jams. It was a wonderfully quiet, peaceful location off the beaten path. Ellen and Richard made us feel at home. They are a wealth of information and very interesting conversationalists. Thank you so much for inviting us into your lovely home.
The Shepherd's Inn is located right between Mt Rainier and Mt St Helens, which was perfect because we wanted to visit both mountains. The owners are a lovely couple and they made us feel like being at home. They were happy to assist with maps and information about the region. Everything was clean and well taken care of. We had the best warm breakfast we could imagine! The B&B really lives up to its name, everything is decorated with sheep and we loved it!
The Shepherd's Inn is a lovely ranch style home with three sleeping rooms, a beautiful living room and a cozy breakfast area. It is settled in a quiet wooded area off the main road. We have stayed in dozens of B&B's throughout the U.S. and this place has to be one of the nicest. The hosts were great just to sit and chat in the living room with cookies and tea before beddy by ! The breakfast was delicious too.
