We enjoyed the Lighthouse Suite! We come back nearly every year. Our hosts are so genuinely warm and friendly!! Thank you Jim and Gail! My favorite spot is the porch and the rocker. We love the sound of the water and the buoy bell. The seagulls also, all are part of the experience at the B & B! The breakfasts... More

If ocean front perfection sounds to you like a gourmet breakfast on the porch of a perfectly detailed Cape Cod type historic B+B with the best beach in town 100" away, and with hummingbirds over your head - then this is your place! - - just walk off the porch and sit in an Adirondack chair with a 180' view... This was our third visit to this charming B and B and everything was perfect as usual. Jim and Gail are wonderful hosts, warm and friendly with great insights into? everything going on in Port Townsend. The location is convenient for walking everywhere while at the same time offering the ambiance of life at the seashore. In the morning you... More

Stayed 2 days mid-week. Everything was comfy and clean. The owners Jim & Gail are really lovely people. Made my friend and I feel at home the moment we arrived and fed us well. We stayed in the Lighthouse suite upstairs that looks out onto the ocean....lovely! I could have listened to the waves crashing all night but I fell... More

Went to Port Townsend to visit our daughter. Happened to choose to stay here...what a blessing. Wonderful location. Stayed in the Lighthouse room. Very Romy with a tremendous view. But what makes a b&b is the breakfast. Gail and Jim prepared and served a wonderful meal. Two courses. She even got me to eat foods I don't normally eat (zucchini,... More

A very nice B&B. The location can't be beat! Walking distance to shops/restaurants. Open your window to the sound of the waves in the morning, then enjoy a delicious breakfast. My son & I stayed in the 2 room suite ,which was perfect. The owners very welcoming & full of suggestions for places to eat.

The Commanders Beach House is a wonderful BnB, with perfect views, hosts who enjoy meeting you and who provide all comforts of home plus a yummy breakfast. Right next to the beach, there is no better place to soak up the view of water, seals, herons, sailboats, ferries and listen to the lovely sound of the channel bell. The rooms... More

We have made many tripos to the delightful Victorian seaport town of Port Townsend, and have stayed at a wide variety of inns, B&Bs, and motels there over the years. This time, to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary, we stayed two nights at The Commander's Beach House, located at the far north end of the historic district of Port Twonsend,... More

This is a little gem tucked into the north end of town. The house is well kept and the rooms well appointed. I found the proprietors to be very welcoming and enjoyed everything about my stay. Morning coffee on the back porch watching the boats go by. The back yard is great place to sit and enjoy the scenery and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commander's Beach House is the only bed and breakfast that is located right on the water in downtown Port Townsend. You can walk on the beach to Fort Worden or easily stroll three blocks along the water front to all of the downtown shops and restaurants. Three of our rooms face the water and have private baths. Our fourth room faces the garden and has a shared bath located inside of the room. You can enjoy views of Admiralty Inlet, Mt. Baker, Whidbey Island, all of the boats and ships that go into Seattle, as well as vintage wooden schooners and yawls. Eagles, herons, otters and seals are frequently seen by our guests. A full sit down gourmet breakfast is served at individual tables or on our veranda, weather permitting. Come fall asleep lulled by the sounds of the sea and "relax and solve nothing"! ... more   less
