The Commander's Beach House is the only bed and breakfast that is located right on the water in downtown Port Townsend. You can walk on the beach to Fort Worden or easily stroll three blocks along the water front to all of the downtown shops and restaurants. Three of our rooms face the water and have private baths. Our fourth room faces the garden and has a shared bath located inside of the room. You can enjoy views of Admiralty Inlet, Mt. Baker, Whidbey Island, all of the boats and ships that go into Seattle, as well as vintage wooden schooners and yawls. Eagles, herons, otters and seals are frequently seen by our guests. A full sit down gourmet breakfast is served at individual tables or on our veranda, weather permitting. Come fall asleep lulled by the sounds of the sea and "relax and solve nothing"!

We spent three nights at the Commander's Beach House in mid-August 2022. It was our sixth stay here and our first since Natalie and Dave took over as hosts from Gail and Jim. The CBH is as wonderful as ever and remains one of our favorite getaway places from our home in Seattle. The B&B has an ideal beachfront location on Hudson Point, near an attractive marina and within easy walking distance of Port Townsend's restaurants and historic main streets. All the rooms are clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated with marine-related themes and colors; and the Island View Room and Lighthouse Suite offer superb views of Admiralty Inlet, the nearby islands, and Mount Baker and the Cascades. Comfy chairs on the verandah and lawn are available to make the most of good weather. Natalie and Dave serve excellent gourmet breakfasts (normally at 9am) and were a real pleasure to talk with throughout our stay, always happy to help if needed and to go out of their way to make their guests' stay as enjoyable as possible. Thanks again for everything, Natalie and Dave, and we hope to see you again very soon!

We enjoyed our stay in the Lighthouse Suite at Commander’s Beach House — we had a lovely view of Mt. Baker on the clear days. Bed was comfortable; house was quiet. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! Very convenient location to walk to downtown.

The best experience you could ever have in Port Townsend is right here at the Commander's Beach House. All the rooms are exquisite, however, I stayed in the lighthouse suite. This suite is equipped with a king size bed, a sitting area and bathroom. They really paid attention to detail in every part of the house, but the lighthouse suite has a beautiful, intricate sea horse dresser that adds the perfect touch to the room. Oh, and the bed was super comfy, you just drift to sleep as soon as you lay down. Such a beautiful and unique room, the views also cannot be beat. From hearing the waves crash through the night to an amazing homemade breakfast while feeling the ocean breeze on your face, a stay here is highly recommended. Natalie and David are literally the hosts with the most. They make sure every guest has a wonderful, unique stay. They are knowledgeable about things to do around town, as far as sightseeing and great recommendations on places to eat near by. The house is very conveniently located to shopping, dining and the beach. I highly recommend visiting the Commander's Beach House, you will feel right at home, but with fantastic views of the beach. Don't forget to walk the beach and find some sea glass to take home.

So happy to have stayed at the Beach House for a birthday weekend, this was our first visit to Port Townsend. The lighthouse Suite was comfortable and very nautical themed. The view from the windows was lovely: beach, mountains, and nature. The bathroom is small, but functional. What we enjoyed most was the hospitality from Natalie and Dave, the warm welcome, birthday wishes, and customer service. We played cards by the beach, and watched the seals, bald eagles, herons, ferries, and even a submarine in the sound. Very relaxing, peaceful and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. The rooms also do not lock from the outside, so when you leave the room for the day, it remains unlocked, but the main house is locked up. Note: the house is old, so sound travels quickly. Beautiful weekend!

We stumbled upon this B&B after much research on accommodations in Port Townsend for a cute get-away, and it was our luckiest find yet! We arrived late (around 10pm) the night of our arrival having driven from Seattle earlier that day. To our surprise, Jim stayed up for our arrival. Not only were we greeted by the most gracious host, but he took the time to show us around the place, even at that hour. That night, we sat out on the porch after making cups of tea in the Sitting Room, huddled under B&B provided throw blankets, and looked out into the ocean listening to the waves, what a respite after the long drive. We will never forget those moments.

The room itself was very clean and the price more than reasonable. We had an adjoining bathroom and it was also spotless. Since the B&B has only a few rooms, it was very quiet during sleep hours and we got a great night's rest with no noise disturbances at all. The next morning, we were treated to a delicious breakfast that Gail made. It really felt like staying over at a family member's vacation house. Breakfast consisted of multiple petite courses, starting with a delicious yogurt parfait, and the homemade quiche was to die for. Yum!

Upon leaving, Jim learned that my fiance was a healthcare professional who was just starting out his difficult medical residency program in Seattle. Jim disappeared for a few minutes only to re-appear with a silver dollar coin in his hand and told my fiance, "Rub this for good luck when things get tough." We were incredibly moved by the gesture, and still have the good luck token on our nightstand to this day! This example is exactly what you get with Jim and Gail. They are the best hosts, honest people who make you feel like part of their beach house family. Nothing about this place is commercial, only true, real hospitality that is SO hard to find these days.

We recommend the Commander's Beach House to everyone we know, but also selfishly want there to always be a room available because it really is a rare gem. Thank you Jim and Gail!!!

My husband and I had fabulous time hanging in Port Townsend while staying at The Commander's Beach House. I can't brag enough about this B&B. We were so impressed with the beachfront location in the historical district, a comfortable well appointed home, the bed was comfy , the breakfasts were culinary surprises, the owners were hands on but not intrusive. This is a well run establishment. 😘🙏

You want rest and relaxation come here to the Commanders Beach House This place is literally a breath of fresh air over looking the shipping lanes in the Admiralty’s inlet activity and the ferries going to Coupeville and back.
Your On the water with amazing views of the sunrises, the gourmet breakfast served with a creative twist out on the deck, the owners Natalie and Dave are super welcoming and accommodating. This is a must visit when coming to Port Townsend.

This is a lovely B & B right on the beach. Michelle and her husband do a beautiful job maintaining this property and making you feel at home. The rooms are extremely clean and decorated with nautical features and many items from local artists. Breakfast was a delight each morning. The location is fantastic, since the beach is right outside your door (we even walked to Fort Worden along the beach). Downtown is just a couple of blocks away, which is great considering how difficult it is to park after 11 am. The bed was incredibly comfortable in the Lighthouse Suite where we stayed. We definitely plan to return.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in the Schooner room and from the moment we arrived everything was exceptional. From the home made breakfast provided to the cleanliness of the room, our stay was more than what we could have hoped for. Natalie(?) was very accommodating, even providing breakfast for me after service had stopped. We felt like we were the only people staying there with how attentive she was. We enjoyed every detail of our stay, including the comfy robes provided! We will definitely be staying here again and appreciate their service.

My husband and had a lovely time. We stayed in the Lighthouse suite, which had an amazing view of Mount Baker. The sounds of the waves, sailboats, beach walks, added to the most amazing experience. Dave and Natalie were wonderful hosts. If your lucky, Dave makes the best eggs Benedict ever. A short walk into town you will find excellent food and world class music. I highly recommend this place.

I don't believe so. I think all of the guest rooms are on the second floor. And there is no lift of any kind available, to my knowledge.
