Did not get out of the car, we were looking for a nice drive. Beautiful location felt like driving through a time porthole. Would love to come back and explore. Looks clean and well maintained. Camp grounds looked like fun too. There was a tap house by the front gate that looked inviting but we had children with us.

I am writing specifically about the accommodations at Fort Worden. I spent two miserable nights in one of their "luxury bungalows" that had filthy rugs and upholstery, disgusting kitchen facilities, rotting windowsills and was plastered with acoustical tile that looks suspiciously toxic. I paid $250 a night to stay in this nightmare, and was accused of trying to get a... More

We have been staying in Fort Warden for the last 19 years. My sister was married there as it’s such a special place for our family. We travel with another family thus making us a large group to accommodate. Fort Warden has always accommodated us and we have booked houses suitable as house families have grown. The Fort is old... We stayed here for a family gathering. It was wonderful having a place big enough to accommodate all of us. The houses are definitely in need of some updates but, overall they were fine. We did have a huge problem by not being able to reach the after hours maintenance person. NOT okay!!! The kitchen had plenty of dishes and... More

Walking through the old bunkers you get an eerie feeling. If you close your eyes you can almost imagine the noise of goings on around you. The yelling of the officers, the trucks rumbling down the road, maybe a few guys playing cards in their down time near one of the buildings. The underground rooms are pitch black so bring... More

Went to the visitor center in town and was informed if you park near the main buildings, parking is free. From there we walked down the beach to the lighthouse, which is fenced off. Near camping spot 50, there is a trail that goes up to the bunkers. It is a bit strenuous but worth the effort. As you walk... More

The dog and I had fun exploring this park. We went out and seen the lighthouse and then hiked up to the old fort and went through all the old cement structures. It is a hike up there though as they do not let you drive but it is a wide paved road. Neat old historic buildings.

Alexander's Castle, built in 1883, is an excellent choice for accommodations at Fort Worden. The roomy downstairs has a dining room, sitting room, small kitchen where meals can be cooked in-house and a bathroom with a claw-foot tub. The upstairs (in the tower) has a large king bed with luxurious linens, windows with views of Admiralty Inlet , as well... More

The officers quarters here are very old and musty but if you just want a spot to sleep and enjoy the Jazz Festival, this place has great value as each house can accommodate up to seven people. You do need a car to get around as it is not close to downtown but has great views of the ocean.
