This place is great for visiting downtown Port Townsend. We walked down to the shops by the downtown marina from our lovely room. Margaret is a great hostess and let us share the great view from the main house back deck. A wonderful place to view the water before turning in. The room was artfully appointed and clean. We loved the decor in the room and the wonderful gardens. John and Janet

Takaki House is a lovely gem. The gardens are gorgeous, and the room was clean and comfortable. (Bonus points for good coffee & fresh half & half in the fridge!) This is a very special place to stay. We hope to return!

I happened upon the Takaki House as I was looking for a place to stay for the great Woman in Film put on by the Port Townsend film Fest( PTFF). It was perfect for what I wanted. Great bed, little kitchenette and eating area. I made coffee and had cereal every morning. Nice little bathroom. The weekend was rainy and cold so I didn't enjoy the garden other than to come and go. However it is beautiful to look at. Buds just coming out. Squirrel and hummingbirds were enjoying it too. It was an easy walk, with fabulous view, to the theatre and shops. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a little slice of heaven!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Margaret's clay work is amazing! We can't wait to come back. We were lucky to have great weather for the weekend and Port Townsend always offers amazing places to eat and shop. Highly recommend Takaki House!

The bed and breakfasts we've stayed at have had enjoyable similarities. The rooms are comfortable, cosy, often themed in some way. There may be a common parlor with games and a small library of books and videos. Coffee, tea, and snacks may be provided as well. The owners typically love their homes and are fun, informative, and engaging as they talk about their place, its history, and things to do in the surrounding area. We have yet to encounter a place we would not return to. The Takaki house Garden Room is, for me, a step up. The garden and room are places to unplug. There are no movies or books. What there is is a delightful, and here I speak as a non-artist, eclectic yet harmonious decor. Even the kitchenette in the corner is art, with its bright colors, angular backsplash and curvey countertop. With the windows open the room is a breezy, very pleasant space. Outside, the garden is quiet, cozy, and full of large and small whimsical surprises wherever one turns. Among the ivy, bamboo, shrubs, and grasses I found busts, statuary, terra cotta, dragons, fish, and a driftwood knot nest holding stone and glass eggs. Inside and outside I felt like I was in an unstructured zen garden. Restful and pleasing. I'd be happy to return to any of the B&Bs we've stayed at, but I feel this most strongly with the Garden Room at Takaki house. It's a place I'd return to simply to spend a couple of days alone in a lazily meditative state. Cons - none.
